If we're only going to play 352, then we might as well let Kirk go, as he doesn't fit the system0 -
Young players have helped drag us out of this league before such as Cullen + Bielik.
Most of our 'better' loan players have been young, hungry players looking to make an impact:
See Cullen, Bielik, Purrington, Coquelin, Dasilva, Mavididi (before the injury), Gallagher.9 -

You can't play Pearce in a 2, for the reasons Brownie said on Saturday better than I ever could. I think Clare Lavelle Famewo Purrington would make a pretty good back 4 though. But again you don't have proper cover for 3 of them.1 -

Who doesn’t count as proper cover for that back four? Gunter, Matthews and Souare?
We’re probably agreeing our recruitment wasn’t good enough by we at least filled all positions in a 433/4231 with two or more players per position.0 -

He is on record as saying we have one of the biggest, talented, and depth of squads in the league and I believe he now expects the management team to utilise them.
We all know this is incorrect because of the dross we have in the squad but TS sees it differently1 -

Tbh I think we would be his last resort with him being Millwall.4 -

Happy New Year x1 -
TS hasn’t even spent all of the KAG sell on free yet. Not expecting anything of note this window.0

Marquis Is shite. Don’t want us to go anywhere near him10

If you shop wisely at Aldi’s you can get much better stuff than at Waitrose.7

lots of good comments on here .. I agree with the idea that we will not get either promoted or relegated, so there is no urgent need for any short term (must strengthen now) thinking by our management group .. yes we could do with (i m o) at least 3 newbies and we don't know who will be gone in the summer .. to summarise, any new signings should be viewed as long term investments rather than short term stop gaps .. I'd love to see three or four newcomers this month, as long as they come in on longish term contracts1

I have low expectations for this window based on assumed budget and availability but this season is dead so a couple of signings to bed in for next season would be great. I'll stick by Dempsey @ Gills
I saw Mandron is being linked for a move, he did really well for Crewe last season and is a big mobile unit but has completely fallen off this season and the Gills striker Olivier would be a good swap in for Stockley.
If Marquis wanted to move back to South East London and was prepared to be part of a squad I would be happy to take him.0 -
What are our short term, medium term and long term objectives?
In the short term we need a few old heads to help us maintain a safe midtable position and assist in a promotion push next year. So I wouldn't be negative about a player in their late 20's / early 30's who would sign for 18 months or two and a half years. They would be for getting us out of L1. Not all of Powell's signings were regulars in the Championship. The likes of Danny Hollands and Matt Taylor were excellent L1 performers but were phased out at a higher level. Gary Doherty, Jason Euell, Paul Hayes and Andy Hughes added depth to the squad. Noone would say that they were bad signings.
The medium term are these 'projects'. I suggest we look at the best of L1 in the early to mid 20's. These players may have the potential to play higher. Dale Stephens and Rhoys Wiggins would be the examples here.
Long term I think it is the Academy which will be our salvation. After Brexit Brentford's model of utilising European leagues will be impossible to replicate. Category 1 status is vital. In the last half of the season I would like to see more youngsters either blooded or sent on loan.2 -
This is a pretty simple window imho. Not exactly fussed who we bring in, if anyone, on short term. For me the goal is survival, and once that's basically assured, play the kids and experiment a bit.
I think we obviously need a forward to complement Washington and Stockley: don't mind if a permanent move happens now or in the summer, but a loan at the least would be prudent.
A central midfield option that gives us either flexibility to play a 4-2-3-1/whatever pushes Lee forward is also on my list. A natural right-back, too, with Matthews injured and Gunter seemingly not in favour. (Or just a general defensive cover.)
I don't want to see a splash of signings given it's January; I do want to see investment in youth, whether that is our own or nabbing other prospects where we can.2 -

For me, the only people we should be bringing in this window are players who we want to be here next year. No point in a short term loan just for this season.16
