    It strikes me that this should be very straightforward. Djokovic either has or has not the entry status as set out in the current Australian Covid entry regulations. Perhaps he has been misled by the Aussie tennis governing body or perhaps he has misled or been economical with the facts. Either way it’s surely black and white.

    There is also the Victoria vs National govt. issue and possible confusion there.

    But the stuff emerging from what his lawyers have released, is doing him no favours at all. In fact he has done Morrison a big favour. There are elections this year…

    You can understand how the tennis authorities would want the World No1 to play in the tournament. They will to that end try to find a way in that is not open to others. If that is not the case, Novak's legal team only have to find people allowed in with the same conditions. We all know rules are bent in these situations but public opinion has forced Australia to adopt a hard position. A victory for public opinion I suspect.

    "Judge Anthony Kelly has ruled that Djokovic's visa cancellation order is "quashed" immediately. This means his visa is now valid and he can enter Australia.

    The court has ruled that Novak Djokovic will be released, after the judge found unreasonableness in how the border official made his decision cancelling the visa."


    Two things now happen here:

    1. The Aussie PM looks like a complete clown.

    2. Djokovic is still going to get absolutely crucified by the Aussie crowds in his matches.

    Minister for Immigration, Alex Hawke, still has an option to cancel his visa and bar Djokovic from entering the country for three years.

    Was never about the vaccine though was it

    He'd already been allowed to play given he wasnt vaccinated

    This was about having the correct paperwork to be able to enter Australia

    Although guess the anti-vax brigade wont see it that way

    I'm as anti anti-vaxxers as they come but the Australian federal and state government are a complete embarrassment. Funny to watch from afar though.

    I'm more intrigued whether he'll get in hot water over being out and about on the days after he claims he tested positive, than whether he stays/plays in Australia at this point.

    I don't think he gives a s*** about anyone apart from himself - as a piece of PR it has been a disaster.

    That would need to be brought about by the Serb authorities and he basically owns Serbia, going by the recent reports

    He didn’t test positive in December though did he? He just said that so he could claim natural immunity.
