    not sure I agree with that, I think the squad was very well balanced for a 433/4231. Obviously talking quantity wise, rather than quality.

    Think we are pretty balanced depth wise. 

    Only area where we are short is striker and another natural centre back maybe a another attacking mid someone who can dictate the tempo.

    Most squads aim for 2 players per position based on a 4-4-2 then add a extra centre back & centre mid which I agree with because that gives you options to go with 3 in the middle and cover injuries/suspensions.

    Of course based on current 3-1-4-2 system we are overloaded with wide options having to convert a couple of players to play centre back and play deeper in a wide-midfield/wing-back role.

    Gunter, Purrington, Matthews & Souare

    5 Centre Backs
    Famewo, Pearce, Lavelle, Iniss 

    5 Centre Mids

    DJ, Leko, Kirk & CBT

    As the OP i can say that it was intended to be a Charlton specific thread, but organically it's expanded, and you know, the internet has it's own will.

    Bailey is a good player but has been injured most of the season.

    Young is only on a 1 year deal and is 37 this summer, so i guess the plan will be to rotate Digne and Targett. Besides if you can sign a French international full back for 25m then why not?

    In terms of we have x right backs and y midfielders it is.  Once you actually get into the what's and who's it quickly falls apart.

    5 right footed wide players, for example.  There are dozens of other examples.

    Wonder if we will go back in for Tucker and Oliver at Gillingham .. both targets in the summer only to be quoted over a million for each … now with Gillingham where they are in the league and a tax bill that now due reckon we could get both for 700,000 now …

    I think our transfers will be dependant on the next 2 results. A lot of our targets will also be targets for clubs in the play offs/above us. Also TS might not want to spend any money if we’re not in a position to be promoted. Potentially winning the next 2 games could change that. 

    However, as Jacko said a month ago everything with COVID means owners won’t risk spending loads and getting loans will be harder as Prem clubs won’t loan fringe players. 

    I’d be surprised if we sign more than 2 players.

    No Dean Henderson on the Manchester United bench tonight.
    Told he is not injured but isn't being risked.
    The obvious conclusion is that a loan move is being lined up.

    It'll be interesting where he goes

    Was it because he was the top goalscorer in the starting 11 so somebody naturally thought he must be the striker.

    Like what? Although completely agree about all the wide players being right-footed. 

    The defence was very well balanced, 2 for each position, including 2 left and 2 right footers at CB. CM pretty decent, lacked cover for Lee but Morgan was clearly fancied more than he should have been. Same with Davison up top.

    True enough, just think it would be better spent on a CB and/or a CM. Either way, decent enough business and squad is starting to look top 10 material.

    Brentford would be my guess, maybe Newcastle.

    We did late in the last window but like Tucker they were asking over a million
