Morgan played a great ball in the first half, but he probably plays three or four not so great ones before a good one. He had a couple of tame efforts at goal, and passed on one, summing up his lack of goal scoring/shooting ability. He put in a shift but wasn't as dominant as you would want from him. He rarely wins a 50:50 tackle. These are the issues we have seen over a prolonged period of time. He has to sort them all out.4

Our fans are fucking priceless
Albie has played nearly 100 games for us and hasn't improved since his 1st one. I would hardly say that's ripping the shit out of him. Especially compared to some of the abuse other players get.0 -

He has games where his workrate has been a benefit and others where it results him being out of position or arriving late into the areas you expect an attacking midfielder.
If anything I'd say he tries to do a bit more than he really should. He needs to know where a CAM should be playing throughout different scenarios. In attack, in defence, when to pull players out of position, how deep to drop when required etc.1 -
With 700 posts and 45,000 views I wonder if Albie's future lies in social media?
He certainly draws attention and opinion.3 -

He certainly draws attention and opinion.I really thought he would come good this season, but I think if we can either sell or loan him in Jan it would be beneficial as it will free up another space in the squad.4 -

But next season he does and we already have JFC, Gilbey, Clare and Dobson contracted. He needs to do a lot in the next 6 months to get a new deal.0 -
I don't think he's ever going to be a CAM. He may just make it as inside right, but his goal and assists stats will have to jump hugely.
I can see him playing a Cullen role. Play a bit deeper, stay central, keep it simple, his energy is excellent at recovering, go into offensive space in the right phases, and making sure you don't plant or fall over like Watson when you're 1v2. He can play a pass, and by being that bit deeper if he can break play the passes are more obvious, easier and defined - not the worldy/inch perfect that Shinnie could do in the final third, and ge can't.
But I'm not sure he has the football brain of Cullen. Also Cullen had Bielik and Pratley as super reliable foils to cover him or pass to him. So I suppose where I see his strengths, may not be practical for JJ and could turn into a disaster if Albie's confidence is shot. A loan to somewhere like Colchester could be crucial for him: Conference is wrong now, he has to prove himself in L2 football.
I like Albie's assets, but he's only going to play higher up if he develops a centrally deeper lying conservative game. Could see Dobson and Morgan sitting deep, with 3 of our attacking midfielders freer in front. Another issue here is that atm, for most matches we should play Stockley and Washington together if fit: That means no starting role for Morgan as he is not a cm in a flat 4, nor offensively effective at rm in a flat 4: I think he can work 4231 but that isn't best for us atm.2 - Sponsored links:

to succeed. In my view, he’s getting a tougher ride than some other
players of far greater experience. I am
not denying that he’s been poor but he’s had good games in the past and can be good again.
Let him leave or go on loan but at the moment, he is taking up a place in the squad that could be occupied by someone who could improve us.
Offer something to the team or leave. Simple as that.2 -

At this point the number of games he has played is the more important factor than his age.2 -
Tuesday really was an opportunity to take hold of the game especially as the 'senior' player in that side.
He did a few nice passes and some good challenges but overall his performance was average to poor.
It seems he needs a good player alongside him in midfield otherwise you barely get anything good out of him. Forster casky did get more out of Morgan. Him playing with Henry (who was awful) you get performance like that.
The other worry is that outside our first team the squad don't look all that. no one played well on Tuesday.0 -

I've seen people on here excusing Dobson's early performances this season, because he was playing with Morgan and Clare, rather than Gilbey and Lee. Well if that's the case, Morgan had Dempsey and Henry alongside him, which is an even lower level of teammate.0 -
Dobson made some mistakes, but personally I thought he was a good signing and could see the player we are seeing now. And I have been pretty much saying this from day one.0
-
If I were Morgan I’d go into Sparrows lane and train on my own tomorrow. I know Jackson’s given them the day off, but little statements of intent can never hurt1

Can understand promoting some competition for places, but keep bringing back the same players who don't deliver is surely part of the problem, isn't it?2 -
Let's bring Watson back in for Gilbey and go full circle to the all dominating and conquering midfield trio.
Dobson - Watson - Morgan0 -

bloke needs moving out soon as. Him and Gunter should of retired years back but a pay check keeps them going.0 -

I think Albie's best position is actually as a right or left midfielder in a flat, narrow 4-4-2 like Curbs used to play. We sometimes even stuck Claus out on the right of midfield in the Premier League days when we wanted to be compact but make sure we still had some passing quality in there. Albie is a great passer at times and can get around the pitch but too often his positioning and reading of the game is too erratic to actually play in central midfield. He gets lost in the middle. He'd fit nicely in a midfield that had two industrious centre mids and a proper winger on the left, with him providing a bit of width to the midfield two and tucking in when the team needs to defend. The added bonus there is while he'd offer extra protection defensively, he wouldn't be quite as essential to the defensive effort. Claus only won one tackle in his life and he scored from it, but he still helped our shape. Bowyer realised this about Albie after lockdown and played him on the left with McGeady right in a flatter 4, but it dipped a bit because McGeady was rubbish and we were lacking up front. Then we returned to the diamond where Albie got lost again. The problem Albie has is that no-one plays that way anymore so I don't see him having a place with us unfortunately
