And also another player who's played at Oxford under Robinson, though a season before Clare and LeeI’ve always wanted to see a 3-4-3 (similar to what Chelsea play) and utilise all the wingers we have on the books - but it looks like we’re sticking with the 3-5-2.
What would Jackson play if he had a blank piece of paper and his own squad?

I wish Marcus Browne well but worry we persist with this signing of previously seriously injured players. It has not worked for us for many years and I doubt a highly expensive "tens" machine will make the difference.3 -

What would Jackson play if he had a blank piece of paper and his own squad? At the moment we’ve got a few square pegs in round holes, which we’ve already started addressing in this window. If Jackson had another vision for how he wants his team to play, I believe we’d have seen it at least once during this bad patch of form.2 -
Think Browne is coming in as comp for Lee who needs it desperately. We will sign Lee on a perm deal I expect.
As I said last night, I will happily give people a chance whatever there injury record etc. All I ask is that there give there all when they pull on the shirt.2 -
There’s a part of me that doesn’t really understand the rationale of signing players on loan if we have no chance of getting them on a permanent/extended loan next season (not sure if that’s the case with Castillo or Browne). This season is gone, and our finite funds should be spent only on players who will be part of our plans next year.11

We’ve definitely been after him in the past. Scored goals at Oxford in this division. Thought he was a winger but seems he can play centrally too - expect he’ll be competition for Lee and Gilbey.
He’s the type of player we could sign permanently in the summer so hopefully it works out.8 -

We have got some square pegs in round holes but we also cover up a lot of players weaknesses in this system. Players that have to play because the only option is worse.
I am extremely pleased of the change of direction and the seeming willingness to wrip up the summer's business. At best it shows Jackson is in charge, at worst it shows "they" know they fucked it up and aren't too stubborn to change it.0 -
Browne wore the number 10 shirt for Oxford and looks quite direct and pacy. Some of his finishes fo Oxford are decent (espeially one against Wycombe) but that was a while ago now.
Hopefully he's "hungry and angry" as Curbs used to say and hopefully the ACL rehab is all good now0 -

If you sign players like Souare and Arter (CBT as well?) how do you get them match fit without them playing at all. Then you can't play them because they aren't match fit. Watson hasn't played for anyone for months. Morgan, Davison and Kirk?
A big squad does have its disadvantages.0 -

It’s just a shame most of our significant investment has been in a positions (wingers) we no longer rely on.0 -

A good player pre injury, hopefully we can get the best out of him.0

Re: Se9 addick’s point, I do get it, but maybe Jackson does have one eye on making sure we avoid relegation by getting in what he perceives are better than what we have, even short term. Jackson may have come to the conclusion he doesn’t think a lot of the players are good enough
We also have to factor in the difficulty of getting quality in Jan. Look at our 2 permanent signings in Jan last year. Funds were spent on players we thought would be part of our plans this year. Schwartz was a complete bomb, but you could argue DJ was on paper a potentially good signing, but, if I’m honest, he’s hardly pulling up trees
I’ll be honest, I don’t think for the budgets we’ve got, the players available, our recruitment team have got much chance of bringing in players they are confident can make a difference next season.
Personally, depending on how poorly we finish this season, you’ve also got to factor in the hangover and lack of excitement taking X amount of those players into next season. If we finish where we currently sit, I’m not going to get excited at the prospect of seeing Lee, Gilbey, DJ & Leko etc next season, no way. Harder ask of course to go out and bring in 11/12 new faces and bed them in, but bloody hell do I think we need it
Finally, whoever we bring in, loan or permanent, none of them are going to excite us really. There are some of you that are the more positive among us and know more about the types of players we’re going after and can comment and say you rate him, but for me, we’re a very mediocre, mid to lower table league one outfit. I expect the players we get associated with and can sign aren’t that great either. It’s just where we are.0 -
Purrington has been progressively more anonymous over Jacksons reign and now he's stopped popping upo with goals he doesn't offer a great deal and well, Souare i just don't see it so i can see the logic in this whereas DJ, Leko and CBT have a job share on the right - an attacking CM in and possibly another stiker and offloading Kirk and we should be stronger than before the changes surely.1

The knack is to sign players who just need a few games to get back to sharpness, as opposed to those (sadly like Rhys Williams) who will never get back to an acceptable level0 -
Reckon Browne is more a signing for next year. Good to get him in early though.7

Not quite sure what the expectation is when we’re in a lost season at the bottom half of League One.0
