Charlton Only - January 2022 Transfer Rumours (Deadline Day p.97)

Marcus Brown is a very good player at this level, we’ve been linked with him before. He has come back from a serious injury so will hopefully be stronger than ever or knowing our luck half the player he was.0

wollop - step aside Oxford, we'e on our way to the Prem !!!5
-
The Charlton medical staff must be licking their lips... "New victims...ahahah ha ha!"5
-
My expected take on approach - We are more than likely playing for nothing now till August. We are shuffling things around to keep things fresh and try and give us a bit of a pick up, maybe with one eye on signings for next season, but mainly to not overcommit budget wise now to give us more budget opportunity in the summer.8

bound to now be a few more exits6

I see these loan signings as trials to compete for a full time move in time for next season which is surely way more sensible than temporary signings which move on in May and thus leave another gap that needs filling in the summer transfer window.
They may or may not work out, but I think that this is a sensible approach for a January window given that we clearly need yet another rebuild in the summer if we are to become a serious competitor for promotion next season.
Hopefully a few more incoming and some of the deadwood moved on will hope us get closer to this goal.8 -

Welcome Marcus Browne!
I wish Marcus Browne well but worry we persist with this signing of previously seriously injured players. It has not worked for us for many years and I doubt a highly expensive "tens" machine will make the difference.0 -
Who exactly were people expecting us to sign? we need to be realistic, two new signings and not on deadline day. Whats not to like? I will wait and see how they fit in regardless of previous fitness, although i think Purrington is decent at this level but if we want to upgrade a pacey left back is perfect just think of Da Silva & Aflie Doughty, if we can get someone on the right who can do similar perfect.1

Covered_End_Lad said:DOUCHER said:Purrington has been progressively more anonymous over Jacksons reign and now he's stopped popping upo with goals he doesn't offer a great deal and well, Souare i just don't see it so i can see the logic in this whereas DJ, Leko and CBT have a job share on the right - an attacking CDM in and possibly another stiker and offloading Kirk and we should be stronger than before the changes surely.
It's what we used to call a midfielder.

So does having Castillo come in put a pin in the Lavinier move? I always thought going after a right wing back rather than a left wing back was an odd move.
Yes we don't have the perfect player there but we do have plenty of options who are more than capable - DJ, Leko, CBT, Matthews, Gunter. Can't say the same with confidence about the gap Castillo is filling here.1 -

If there's a transfer window open, and you can do a bit of business that improves the team, you should always take that opportunity.Jacko needs this because he needs to show he can make his ideas work and deliver strong results in the second half of the season to secure his contract extension. I see it as only positive that Sandgaard is doing what he can to back Jacko and give him some tools to play the way he wants to. No excuses for Jacko if he doesn't deliver then. The signings so far do have one eye on next season, it would seem, but they also have potential to make a significant contribution this season. Whatever the miserablists in our fan base say, the play-offs are unlikely but not impossible from here and I very much doubt Jacko has given up on them completely. One thing the club has under TS and Jacko is a streak of ambition and optimism, they will strive for the play-offs this season until it mathematically can't be done. And I think that's right. Success and winning is mindset, a culture. We have not had it at our club for a long time so reinstating it is not an instant fix, but those who lead the club have to live it every day and set that standard and expectation, but also practice what they preach. That's why bringing in loans, even if they are only for this season, are of value as long as they help us win more matches.10

There seems to be an assumption that Marcus Browne has joined us. However, I can’t see any confirmation of that. Counting chickens and all that.3

Chris Miller isn't even aware on Clubs outside the Prem, so how he's got some sort of inside knowledge on players movements is anyone's guess0

Red Valiant wins the award for the first person to put a name to the rumour and Doucher wins the award for knowing who it was but keeping quiet 🏅🎖️3 -

He saw the Lavinier rumour yesterday and claimed that he'd "heard a whisper" and now it's not him, he's had another go.4 - Sponsored links:

It had better not be Nile John, everyone knows you cannot trust a person with a first name for a surname!0

I had a dream last night that Ronnie Schwartz came off the bench and scored a winning goal. Does it mean anything?2
