Rightly so I think, I’d settle for competing in this shitty league first.Scoham said:
Many won’t be happy until they see consistent results and performances on the pitch, regardless of any signings made. That means winning promotion from this league and then competing in the Championship (not saying that’s right or wrong).Redrobo said:When the window opened we were looking to bring in two and possibly three players.
Burstow has displaced Davison and we have added Chucks. We have bought in a left wing back who is out of contract in the summer so if he does well we may be able to make permanent. The extra one is an exciting youngster who looks destined for the Spurs 1st team in the near future.
Overall a good January window.
Now we after a fourth and yet some are saying it is another disaster. If we do manage to get one of the two suggested targets on a permanent it will change a good window to a fantastic window IMO.
We are edging towards having a squad of players that are actually our players which is good.2 -
Stockley, Chucks, Washington and Burstow isn’t bad at this level, and I think we did well to sign a CF in a January window. If it had been another CF with a similar record as Chucks coming in from the Championship we would have been much happier because there is an excitement in seeing new players, where as we know all about Chucks.Southbank said:

If anyone is happy with 15th in the 3rd division I would be more suprised. But its OK we could move up to the heady heights of 14th if we win tonight.Redrobo said:

I’m surprised we’ve done nothing to address the RWB slot for me I’d have sent Leko packing and been all over Villa for Kane Kessler or Spurs for the lad we were linked with.
we good really do with an upgrade in that position given DJ still can’t play for 90mins2 -
Starting the rebuild now for the summer, sensible if you can get a player you want and integrated now that you do that business. Fraser isn't a panic buy, it's a good long term buy13

Has Browne moved yet?1

I think you could make a convincing argument to sign a player in any position bar keeper. We were never going to get everything we needed/wanted.Maccn05 said:I’m surprised we’ve done nothing to address the RWB slot for me I’d have sent Leko packing and been all over Villa for Kane Kessler or Spurs for the lad we were linked with.

A couple of permanent additions for next season is good, two less we need in the summer. Its all irrelevant if we get relegated.3 -
DJ can.play 90 mins but he's NOT a RWBMaccn05 said:I’m surprised we’ve done nothing to address the RWB slot for me I’d have sent Leko packing and been all over Villa for Kane Kessler or Spurs for the lad we were linked with.

He's a winger
Wide mifielder
Right of a front 3
But NOT a wing back!

Hope it doesn’t go to the players heads if we move up to 14th, the excitement will be palpable!🤣, I’m not certain I won’t bust a blood vessel.Cafc43v3r said:

Little bit in this on Fraser. Apparently the bid exceeds what Ipswich paid in the summer...
ipswich paid 750k for him and they making a profit by selling him to charlton … according to Ipswich fansLargeAddick said:
Sorry no names but I’m assuming, if true, that it’s Sammie Szbolics As has already been mentioned. Late to the party as usual….. not easy with a 4 hour diff not reading through 10 pages of crap before postingRonnieMoore said:

The fee for Fraser is the (relatively) easy bit. Ipswich are paying their players so much it’s warped the market, so you’d assume he’d have to take a pay cut to come here.4
-
Not sure about that. He always seems to start well but gets progressively more knackered/less effective as half time approaches.supaclive said:

Personally I thought the left side was the real concern. Purrington is fine, but if he didn’t play we were ripped apart down that side.Maccn05 said:I’m surprised we’ve done nothing to address the RWB slot for me I’d have sent Leko packing and been all over Villa for Kane Kessler or Spurs for the lad we were linked with.

Would be great if that could happen...like DJ and Kirk, they weren't "failures" at their previous clubs before coming here were they, thing is until they arrive we really don't know if they will fit in..Lincsaddick said:

It isn’t bad, but as a collective I can’t see them getting us promoted. We must replace Washington with somebody much better.Redrobo said:

were both wingers in L2 playing against weaker defences than in L1 .. DJ a failure ? .. I do not agree with your one eyed analysiseastterrace6168 said:

.. so you're happy that we pay a lot of money for Fraser in the hope 'that he'll fit in' .. I'd rather our scouting staff and those deciding which players to buy would have more insight and a good idea of any player's suitability before signing him .. Fraser's signing (is it definite) smacks to me of a bit of a panic shot in the dark .. as ever, we will see 5 -
Kirk and DJ were both playing in league 1 when we bought them4

The problem we have is that the squad was pretty much full. We had to try and clear some players out before we could bring anyone in permanently.Cafc43v3r said:

As it stands, if money/squad size wasn't an issue we'd probably be looking at RWB, another striker, cover for Dobson and potentially another CB given Inniss' fitness concerns even on top of what we have done/are apparently still working on.
But as it is, we have to prioritise and be more selective. Not to say we didn't make this a problem fir ourselves in summer but a mid season window is always a tricky time and place for an "instant fix" signing.1 -
Fraser seems a strange signing - every midfielder we get in seems to underperform.

Will put my neck on the line and say if we sign Fraser he will be a significant upgrade on Lee.
Would hope we play him alongside Gilbey and Dobson. That midfield trio would have a bit of everything and if they can gel you would think they should be the best midfield in the league next season.6 -
If we had just wanted to replace Lee, Nile John would have been our only signing in the position. There's another issueCovered_End_Lad said:Will put my neck on the line and say if we sign Fraser he will be a significant upgrade on Lee.

Of course it won't happen but I would be very happy with Fraser, another striker and a specialist RWB.1

We have been after Fraser for ages, under 3 different managers, which begs the question of who "we" are in this scenario.Lincsaddick said:

Not that it's an issue in this case but is a wider problem.0
