    Fucking he’ll bite why don’t you!!😂
looking a joking and backbiting apart he has been doing better, had the shirt, let’s see what happens. I don’t dislike him it’s just a footballing opinion.👍
If you ask for consistency, that’s 4 good games in a row ( I don’t include the pizza game as a proper match).  I reckon if Fraser had played like Albie did yesterday, everyone would have been salivating .  Yes, not everything comes off and yes he should have scored but he is working hard, he tries to move the ball progressively and his set pieces are excellent.

Glad he’s having a good run of it and finally fulfilling some of his promise. I’d just about given up on him coming good.

He’s been a big piece in our last three wins and felt we missed him when he was subbed - not something I’ve ever said before so whatever he’s doing with Jacko, Euell and Skiverton is working and long may it continue.

I will hazard a guess that the all action play of Dobson (crunching tackles) and Gilbey (endless running and harrying) are the perfect foil for him to play to his strengths (technical ability and creativity) while not having to unduly worry about maintaining defensive responsibilities.

That has been his Achilles heel in previous seasons. Maybe we stumbled upon the system that gets the best out of him.
  • His best point has been some of his set delivery’s but there are also corners that go straight off the pitch
He tries super hard and there are green shoots of recovery although I’m not seeing what others are but in all honesty I’m a football snob who won’t be tugging any of this worst footballing period in our history’s players off too much .

The corners that go straight off the pitch is a product of him always trying to make them dangerous , rather than just aimlessly chipping them into the box, which we’ve had all season .

I agree - he’s no Claus Jensen , but we are in division 3.
  • In terms of set pieces, its just nice seeing the first man being beaten

Imagine Albie's assist rate will go down soon as a result - Especially once the opposition realise that we can finally beat the first man again, and will have to take the whole corner routine a bit more seriously from us again

We've missed out on a large number of potential goals with Lee's set pieces. Jacko knows it.
Not excusing Lee but it does help that you can just put it in the general direction of Inniss, even more so than Stockley.

Interesting you see his strengths as that, I've always thought he'd be best as the Gilbey type. I seem to remember us all saying that a big problem was his fitness and how he couldn't last 90 mins. One of my questions was why he always looked so much better when coming off the bench than starting.

I still don't seem him as the creative type e.g. Lee when he's on form. Personally if he is here next season I'd like to see the modified being made up of Fraser/Lee (or another) for the more advanced creative role. Gilbey/Morgan for the driving forward role and Dobson/potentially Clare for the holding role.

Morgan’s a better passer than he is getting in the box and making forward runs off the ball. It’s difficult to imagine him scoring double figures over a season, while Gilbey has the potential to in a better team and with a bit more composure.

There's a misconception that Gilbey is more of a finisher/goal threat than he actually is.

His career stats have seen him score 25 goals in 242 starts. That's a ratio of a goal approximately every 10 games.

    What exactly is super hard

  • Nobody divides opinion on here more than Albie. For me he is a nice kid and yes he has done ok the last few games but he isnt good enough for a team that has ambition of getting promoted. The key to answering the Albie lovers is that they should ask themselves if they have ever been concerned that another club will come in for him ? The answer is no, infact if I remember correctly we have tried a few times to get him a loan but no takers. That speaks volumes imo. The market doesnt lie very often ( see Burstow) a young english player with potential would have constant rumours about a move if he was any good
  • PWR the last 100 comments, but there was a moment late 2nd half where albie produced an outrageous bit of skill to skip past a defender in the area, then promptly miscontrolled it befire he could shoot and the ball ran out of play. This sums him up to a certain extent. We know he can do it, but it's a bit hit and miss sometimes. Having said that  his corners have been excellent recently and a real improvement on Lee's. Overall I think he's been pretty good the last couple of games and deserves a run or at least to be involved in every squad.

Uh oh, your gonna get a few lols for this post, your right though. I really wish there was just a disagree tab, rather than being sarcastically loled, I have no problem people telling me they think I’m talking bollox!!😂
  • His stats in the last few games speak for themself.

Yes I agree mate but what about the previous 92 ?

They don’t count, also shock horror, a pro footballer is able to take a dead ball kick, maybe he’d be good at American football!!, although they do contest kicks. He has improved but the overhype in his improvement is embarrassing. So easily pleased fans on here.

Agree with you but just looking at his latest return into the first team fold.

He's offered more than Lee has of late. That's a fact. But usually begins to tail off, so lets see how things move forward.

TBF @paulfox Jacko has trusted him with every set piece when Albie has been on the pitch. Gilbey couldn't get the ball off the ground and beyond the 1st man with the couple he took! I dont think anyone is saying he's the new messiah, just that the lad has come in from the cold and done well. Yeah, we all want upgrades in every position  but we're in div 1, so need to work with what we currently have. COYA

    That’s why I said potential.

Fair point, I know it’s like I’m always digging him out, he has done better as I keep saying , although that keeps getting overlooked.
  • The constant calling of Charlton fans being embarrassing for some thing or another is becoming a joke on here at the moment (not just calling you out on this, it’s several people over various threads).

Also, there’s no overhype that I’ve read, merely people posting positive comments about Morgan’s recent games. No one has said he is the answer to getting promoted or anything like that, just that he’s put in some decent performances recently.
If this thread had started only 4 games ago, it would certainly be a different type of discussion being had, however it hasn’t and he is being judged accordingly. When I say overhype I am implying that people tend to suggest he is doing better than he actually is because of the need to support him as a caveat to people like myself that don’t think he’s particularly very good. Various posters who don’t really rate him have given him credit where it’s due to be fair, but seems to be overlooked. The embarrassing comment is very throw away agreed, but I also think everyone gets the the point when it’s used, and maybe taken too literal.
  • I am sure everyone on here has read Keith Peacock's autobiography.  The chapter on Gavin is extremely interesting and relevant.

Albie is 22 now I have no idea what type of midfielder he is.  One of his main strengths is his range of passing which is nullified by playing higher up the pitch.
  • I agree. The 10 role didn't suit him and clearly looks better now, playing deeper

  • If he can sort his tackling AND his positioning when out of possession, he would be two thirds of the way there... The remaining part, is his finishing. I don't think he'll ever be completely composed up top.

I think this fundamentally his main issue - no one else knows either, including him perhaps. He doesn't really seem to fit neatly into any of the "traditional" midfield roles but currently the combination he's part of is working.

Not sure I agree about his passing. He can sometimes play good incisive balls but equally he can misplace a 10 yarder.

All this time and we still can't agree about his best position or even best attributes, says a lot.
