Summer 2022 transfer rumours (Gilbey loan confirmed p513, a signing falls through last minute p541)

Oh well, life goes on innit, and on to the next match9
-
All jokes aside, that is poor. To not have backups to fall back on.0
-
That’s inexcusable tbh. We’ve had 3 months to sign a striker after letting a perfectly good one go for free.
I assume either QPR pulled of the deal because they needed to get a striker in themselves or Bonne changed his mind. Either way, leaving it until the evening of deadline day and failing is a complete embarrassment. Sandgaard has once again over promised and horribly under delivered.6 -
Didn’t want Bonne but fucking hell you couldn’t make it up. Whatever the merits or otherwise of Washington and Davison we are now a Stockley injury off being right royally fucked. And this when it looks like two signings could have actually made this a successful season. Sandgaard better get used to the idea of losing a lot more money.13

No one wanted him anyway so why people complaining about the deal fallen through ….4

If Aneke can pass a medical don’t see why Bonne can’t.0 -

Two players out
NONE in
Amazing
We will NOT get out of this division with this ownership strucuture
Goodnight all6 -
Shambles very very poor. Feel for Garner really not enough squad depth and barely any goal threat up front with stockley not suiting the style and 300k sicknote always injured.1

QPR fan reckons it’s because they didn’t get a striker in.For me, Bonne is insignificant. It’s the fact we’ve let it tick down to the final seconds when it’s been clear since the first game Stockley wasn’t gonna work in Garners system. That on top of the failure to get in another defender that we’ve seemingly been after for weeks is what makes this so damning.23

It could have been many reasons
We thought we were there and the player had passed his medical at our training ground on Thursday evening, but unfortunately there were complications beyond our control late in the day, which went down to the last minute, and we haven’t been able to sign the player.
He did NOT fail his medical
My grasp of English is quite good
The player did NOT fail his medical ffs !!2 -

Why does it have to be so binary. We can want players to come bolster the squad as clearly needed without being overly keen on Bonne. It was never about mere bodies coming in it was about adding quality to help us compete for promotion as we're clearly lacking and now relying on frees that no other club has deemed worth signing/ retaining in the window.
Might get another CBT and be laughing or might not.
Charlton fans only want Charlton to do well and find it so bizarre the snarky comments and scorn at fellow Charlton fans being disappointed/ frustrated at lack of adding to a potentially decent base squad.

We still finish ahead of where we did last season. Maybe Bonne gets a release and we can grab him on a free, who knows.1 -

Following the closure of the 2022 summer transfer window, the club would like to update supporters.
The Addicks signed seven players during the window and were working very hard to add at least one more player on transfer deadline day.
Charlton Owner and CEO Thomas Sandgaard said: “It has been a busy few days and we were very confident of bringing in another striker before the deadline. The whole recruitment team - myself, Steve [Gallen], Martin [Sandgaard] and Ben [Garner] - have been working tirelessly to get this last deal completed.
“We thought we were there and the player had passed his medical at our training ground on Thursday evening, but unfortunately there were complications beyond our control late in the day, which went down to the last minute, and we haven’t been able to sign the player.
“With players departing the club on loan, that frees up some space in the squad and we’ll now have a further look at options in the free agent market.
“Despite not getting a striker in, we have a very good squad in place and an excellent manager, as our early-season performances have shown. The whole group are focused on the coming months and doing the best they can for the club.”
You can all mock me all you like......but I wasn't wrong.
Mid table obscurity once again.7 -
I'm more pissed off we haven't signed a CB.5

The 'free agent market'?
Like instead of shopping in Lidl, it's shopping at the food bank.
Or going down Lewisham 'market' after the stall holders pack up, and gathering a few cabbage leaves from the pavement.
As far as I am concerned it remains a must win at Bolton.
I suppose the remaining players have less competition for their place in the team, that might be a good thing.3 -

Well that didn’t go to plan. Just passed on what I was told from a usually impeccable source, not convinced even the recruitment team have much of a clue.26

Let's just hope Miles stays fit. I back him to do well if called on and we may as well use him as I doubt he'll be playing for us next year.0

We are now officially fucked. . . 95% done direct from the man who does the transfers. . . Still doesn’t happen . . . Fear the mood turns now so early in the season if we don’t win on Saturday.

Not sure what else there is to say. At least under Roland we got Josh Parker.
To get absolutely no-one in in two key areas that desperately needed it is bordering on criminal.4 -
122 days until January... Start the countdown3

If Aneke can pass a medical don’t see why Bonne can’t.Tried to make it sound convincing didn't he.But surely we can all see through this mans bluster now?Had no intention of signing anybody. Hasn't payed a penny in transfer fees all summer.Don't know what his 'out' is, but reckon the wheels are well in motion7 -
Bonne was about to sign but had his head turned by the Welling media team unfortunately9
-
Bonne was our main striker target all summer? Yeah right
I thought we weren’t leaving it all to the last minute this time Thomas?3 -

Does feel a bit stupid to have left signing a striker to the last day, and what about the CB position that desperately needs filling?
No meltdown from me, but I am disappointed that we're seemingly so close to having a proper crack at promotion and for whatever reason we're not giving it full commitment. Yes results have been good so far, but we all know that we're going to have injuries to key players and we simply don't have the depth to deal with that currently.
