Shouldn't we be happy that they're only (apparently) going for signings of players who would improve us? Whatever your feelings on Bonne? All our other signings seem like they're of that constructive quality (once McGrandles and Egbo get up to speed).

Would you rather we'd signed anyone - literally anyone - just so we could say we made a deadline day signing?

In a few weeks, none of you will remember this, Aneke will be fit, and NURSE! NURSE!

So who is going to be tasked to scan the lists of free agent forwards? Any volunteers?

    Someone is talking bollox.

I cannot believe that could happen on such a forthright and upstanding forum such as this

(… but it is going to be fun finding out who was right and wrong!)
Unless of course they are BOTH wrong and we sign absolutely nobody....
I ain't going to say I tol - who am I kidding, NAILED IT.

I guess this makes me officially an ITK now...

Did DJ end up going, I can’t renember.
  • Well that didn’t go to plan. Just passed on what I was told from a usually impeccable source, not convinced even the recruitment team have much of a clue.
Can you tell us who the players were at this point?
Defender was a loan from champ side, wasn’t given name.

    Forward was Scully from Lincoln.
Clear what happened with Scully then, Championship interest came in and we didnt stand a chance
Yep indeed, and shows the complexity of how the transfer market works even though those who literally have no idea like to make out how simple it is.

Either way though, that’s why you have a ‘list’ of targets and I can’t believe it was just Scully and Bonne on it.

    What a load of tosh!

Very poor, badly lacking a goal scorer which means we aren’t getting out of this awful league anytime soon (we’ll not upwards anyway!)

No signing. Player passed their medical but no deal.
    It doesn't actually say that
It could have been many reasons

    Yes it does...

We thought we were there and the player had passed his medical at our training ground on Thursday evening, but unfortunately there were complications beyond our control late in the day, which went down to the last minute, and we haven’t been able to sign the player.
The player had passed his medical !!

He did NOT fail his medical

My grasp of English is quite good

The player did NOT fail his medical ffs !!
lol!... You need to go away and calm the fuck down fella
No I just don't need calling out for the club to fail to sign anybody but move on two first team squad players and two junior players yet have a CEO / Owner telling us we were pushing for two, maybe more players.

It is what it is BUT we are going nowhere in Division 3.  Stand back and actually understand that.

Charlton are a mid table, division three team.

    I want better.  Sorry.
We all went better you idiot - A good number of us though dont feel the need to act like spoilt children who havent got the toys they wanted come Christmas Day - We're grown adults, many of us have children ourselves, I'd be embarrassed if I started acting in a manner that I wouldnt ever expect from my four year old
Ah, that word " idiot" bandied about again !

    Tut tut.

Be interesting if it was an admin error, we probably had Keohane filling the gap left by Chris Parkes
    I did wonder about that.

Not a good start for Dangermouse.

If you listened carefully to Sandgaard at the very start of the window the signs were there. He mentioned things nearly always going down to deadline day.But that is bullshit.
If he had the means and will to buy a quality striker he would've done it. But he didn't.
This bullshit story he's put out tonight was written at the end of June.
  • Although disappointed at no signings today.I think we have had a reasonable transfer window and are in a better place than last year. Also very impressed with the academy players let’s see what happens up to January
  • It's a disappointing end to the window but the squad in my opinion is still better at the end of the transfer window than at the beginning.

    Last season's final game:

    Harness

    Pearce
    Famewo
    Inniss

    Matthews
    Gilbey
    Dobson
    Morgan
    Blackett-Taylor

    Washington
    Stockley

Just glad I never have to watch some of those players in our shirt ever again.

I'm contemplating putting the champagne on ice for when we sign a rip roaring goal scoring striker this week.
Alternatively, should it be a modified chastity belt type contraption to protect me from the more likely kick in the balls?
Unfortunately, it is the more likely kick in the balls.
At least I didn't fall for the bullshit this time.

Apparently we are already mid table.  Thank god I won't need to watch any games, and even more beneficially read the comments of the self harming wankers that infest every sodding thread on the forum.

I don't buy that we were in for Scully at all. It's been obvious for some time we weren't paying a fee for someone. Woefully short at CB in particular and we're screwed if Stockley gets injured (debatable whether he's good enough anyway).

People can have a dig at other fans for "crying" or reacting like it's the end of the world, but if anyone thinks this squad is capable of promotion then they're off their heads.

Shame we didn't show some real intent and bring someone in to work with Stockley like May, Bonne someone who can run in behind and be a threat or at least occupy another centre half. Aneke simply is not built for football as much as I love him when he is on the pitch and charging through defenders

With Inniss, Lavelle, O'connor I think we all know we will get caught short there in a month tops if we haven't already with Inniss needing micro management and none of them fully convincing me they can pass but I am happy to be proven wrong and there aren't a glut of ball playing centre halves at this level going for shirt buttons.

Really surprised we haven't brought at least a centre forward in, it isn't fair on the young players as we will inevitably end up relying on them when the predictable 6 week injuries start in a couple of months

Aneke has already had two injuries. Innis has to be managed, how are we any better off? We’re relying solely on our children in key positions in a difficult league. The window is only acceptable because of Ben Garner. He’s now pushing a rock up a hill because our non-footballing SMT who work full time can’t identify how desperately we need reinforcements. No coincident Pompey, Ipswich, Sheffield, Derby all somehow manage to land their targets.
