Considering we are such a small island on this planet, its amazing how many people worldwide loved our queenie and royal family. Seeing them photos from all around the globe doesn't surprise me one bit though.1

The queue for the lying-in-state of King George VI was enormous. 305,806 people filed past in three days. With travel to London so much more accessible these days, it's easy to see how those numbers could be surpassed for Her Majesty.
This part of the queue is the other side of the River, five-abreast, and doubled-back.
Hot drinks were provided as a necessity to people queuing.

Indeed, airports across Europe are suffering a severe labour shortage. Fortunately for you @Chippycafc, London and Dublin (if that's where you are flying too) are in a much stronger position than some of the European airports I've travelled into recently (Schipol, for example, is a mess...)Chizz said:

Dublin has just been crippled by Aer Lingus IT crashing. It was pretty bad already with staff shortages affecting luggage. My advice is check with your airline, if you can just stick to cabin baggage & have a plan b if you’ve got forward travel arrangements.SporadicAddick said:

That discussion is for another day and for now we remember a woman who was a traditionalist and was fast tracked to the Job because of her Uncle Edward and the early death of George VI; two brothers who couldn't cope with the pressures of the Job whereas Queen Elizabeth gave it 100% from 25 years old to two days before her death at 96 when she met the present incumbent of PM.
Remarkable Longevity for a woman who was a Stayer not a sprinter and crossing the Melling road for the second time was possibly her finest decade towards the finishing post.

A minute's silence will be held on Sunday to "mourn and reflect on the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II", Downing Street says.
A one-minute silence will take place at 20:00 BST on Sunday 18 September - the night before the Queen's funeral.
The prime minister's official spokesman says the silence can be marked "privately at home on your own or with friends and neighbours, out on your doorstep or street with neighbours, or at any locally arranged community events and vigils".
"We encourage local community groups, clubs and other organisations to mark this moment of reflection. And if you are overseas, people are encouraged to mark the silence at their local time."
The spokesman says the silence will be a "shared national moment of reflection".

This is quite some itinerary, especially for someone in his seventies, having already faced a difficult and busy few days, and with many more to come...
- 10:00 - The King will attend a Motion of Condolence at the Houses of Parliament in London before travelling to Edinburgh
- 13:00 - The King takes part in the Ceremony of the Keys at the Palace of Holyroodhouse
- 14:25 - The Queen's coffin will be taken along the Royal Mile to St Giles' Cathedral
- 15:00 - Service at St Giles' Cathedral celebrating the life of the Queen and her connection to Scotland
- 16:00 - The Queen will lie at rest at St Giles' Cathedral for 24 hours, allowing members of the public to pay their respects
- 17:30 - A motion of condolence, attended by the King, will be heard in the chamber of the Scottish Parliament. The King will respond.
- 17:30 - Mourners will start filing past the Queen's coffin at St Giles' Cathedral
- 19: 20 - The King and the Queen's children will post a vigil around the coffin at St Giles' Cathedral

I enjoyed the history aspect of the coverage over the last few days and found it fascinating to see how difficult a job Queen Elizabeth had when Governments and PM's change and disasters occur and how different she was in the home videos when she wasn't at work.
I believe she only gave permission for the videos to be shown after her Death.
Chizz is not Patronising 🤔
He is well read and has an ology and likes to help the less fortunate.
