If he starts with Leaburn and Stockley they have to play 90 minutes every week.
It's a symptom not the actual problem.1 -

He takes Clare off at ht. Why not move Chin to his right side and bring on clayden? Instead he brings on lavelle and moves Ness to right back.
One thing is for sure. Ness is not a right back.
If he'd made the obvious change he could have then brought lavelle on later on and replaced a clearly tiring Thomas.
He's not covering himself in glory at the moment that's for sure.
I've been saying it for some time now - coaching badges aren't worth a light.3 -

But sometimes there are views that I just can't agree with and this is one of those times. I thought McGrandles was absolutely hopeless last night - not really involved, didnt tackle and just looked completely out of his depth even playing against Colchester reserves!
How he is anywhere near the first team when Forster-Caskey is frozen out apart from cup games just proves what an absolute basket case of a club we are.6 -

It all starts at the top.15 -
Having just seen the highlights my 2 takeaways from it are -
1) Good save for the penalty & a bit unlucky that it then hits the post & comes out and their first goal hits the bar & post and goes in. When you are down on your luck those things happen.
2) They had a big powerful unit that ran with the, muscled the defender off the ball and then scored. Out of our forwards only Aneke can do that.7 -

Has Garner ever been asked directly why he's not playing? Have the panel on Charlton TV ever discussed this? If not, they should do.

Football is a simple game....score more than the opposition and win games.....this tippy tappy "Im playing stylish soccerball like the elite" shit is just boring...its reminding me of the mind numbing football I see in the A league, its painful. Mix it up for fucks sake.6 -
If we had won it would have been ‘the perfect tonic’ to give the squad a lift. The tonic is off at the minute and we need that to change bloody quickly. Squad underperforming again. Not saying that are promotion contending, but they are failing to deliver!0

Fair.
Just didn't seem to notice him personally, but do think he's still some way off proper match fitness.0 -

It's a symptom not the actual problem.I always thought he was adamant this would be his preferred style regardless though. A bit like Jackson and his fixation on 3-5-20 -

Our senior CBs all look a bloody clone of one another this season.Pearce said he had an excellent game, and didn’t put a foot wrong, but that was before Terrell failed to stop Akinde getting the winner. So either he should have been subbed after 80 mins as he was knackered, or they’ve brought in a very fit player with a massive weakness (lack of pace).Very much hope it’s the former.
And I agree with the comments above, it’s all quite dull and pedestrian. I’d like to see us mixing it up more so we’re less predictable; for example by occasionally launching some long balls into the box and fighting for the second ball. Getting more players into the box is key.
Another bugbear is our inability to launch a long throw into the box, an excellent tactic in L1. All of those players should be able to do that, but none of the seem to be able to. It’s a pretty simple technique.Anyone else notice that CBT didn’t once try his trick of pushing the ball past a defender and skinning him for pace? He should have had a field day against L2 defenders. It’s been one of the only rays of light this season, so it’s worrying that even that is fading.4 -

It all starts at the top.
Surely they want to progress their careers, and they won’t do that by playing in an underperforming Charlton team that doesn’t put in a shift. Scouts will be watching our matches, and the players will presumably all want to catch their eye, as the way the club is at the moment some, at least, won’t want to hang around with us any longer than they have to.1 -

Seeing as we have Stevenage in the next round of the League Cup and they just won their 11th home game in a row I think that cup run will be ending soon too.0 -

The term shit is thrown about willy nllly but I feel sums up quite succinctly the state of our club, both on and off the pitch.
Shit

Isn't this the group stage though, where the first 2 teams go through once they have all played? I know we lost, but we are still second. Next up is Brighton, let's hope the next run out is more positive than this one.

Oh to have Bowyer back got best out of players managed to bring in better loan players and played a system to suit the players.I’m sick of 433 hope we don’t play it gain we ain’t got the players to play it so don’t play it
i don’t care if we’re more open with 442 we need 2 players up front. We were more open second half against Oxford but we won the second half 1-0 when first half we lost. 1-0 but had more control apparently because we had more in midfield. We can’t play 3 at back we’ve seen that fail twice and the 433 we look more in control yes but we always have a mistake and concede then don’t look like scoring more than 1.Mortimer said it at half time fed up with all this possession football not going anywhere now days.5 -
Just watched the highlights and the only thing of note was that Morgan's goal celebration was so muted and miserable he looks like he's scored an own goal.3

Our problem is that none of our midfield can do this consistently.
I accept that is league 1 players that is often the case, else they wouldn't be league 1 players but that's why it's so important to get the right players in. Not necessarily better, but better fits.
This is a collection of half decent, at worst, players that you can't perm a half decent team from. No matter which way you shake it up.
Adkins said that last summer, it's still true.2 -
Hopefully Garner learned what little that game offered up
Clare is a better right of 3 central defenders than Lavelle or Inniss, if he's considering that shape, but a less good right back than Egbo or Sessegnon.
Morgan is a less bad option on the bench than Payne or McGrandles
Neither Payne or McGrandles are anywhere near the first team. Payne was awful Saturday & Tuesday. McGrandles has previously been awful and passed up the opportunity to stake a claim last night.
JFC is streets ahead of either, his continued omission from matchday squads is perverse. If that's for non footballing reasons as rumoured, then all concerned are woeful charlatans discrediting the club and the game.
Playing with no experienced strikers at all in the squad is a blatant public admission that you're totally disinterested in the result.6 -
I was actually quite enjoying watching us play, particularly in the first half and was impressed with our movement and accurate passing but the same old same old problem upon reaching the final third, the final ball let us down time after time.
For 85 minutes I never expected them to equalise yet alone get a winner….it was daylight robbery and yet somehow unerringly inevitable. 😒5
