Peter Varney asking for big crowd for Brighton match (Potential Buyers?)

   The Brighton fans out sing Charlton all match & it is largely a great embarrassment to Charlton.

Edit - obviously I don't mean a potential owner is so thick they would buy us solely because of this.
I mean if they have done plenty of research and are keen, but have nagging doubts whether the support has been totally lost or can return very quickly, from let's be honest the @6,000 or so of us that turn up every game.

I think it's more to show "give them a reason and they will come" as opposed to a big crowd will make them buy it.  Anyone could see that that is not the normal crowd.

I thought he was losing money every month. I didn't realize he was making money and pocketing it? Anyone who looks at a one off play final game on which to base their judgement is deluded. That's probably what TS did and why he got involved with us.

The quickest way to get TS out is to reduce revenue, wait for him to run out of money and get desperate to leave. 

But he can’t just “leave”, he has to sell to someone else if the club is to continue in existence. Forcing Sandgaard’s hand is more likely to lead to a Southall than a sheikh. 

Will drop the asking fee considerably. If owners are sniffing around and TS is asking for too much, a month or two of zero revenue will open his eyes.

We're asking them to spend millions to buy and fund the club. The facts are important of course but I'd imagine for some owners there's an emotional aspect too - probably not for Roland but there clearly was for Sandgaard. A game like that could be a chance to experience what a packed Valley is like and feel rather than just see the potential the club has.

It might be a big factor if you've narrowed down your search to two or three clubs.

I think you’re entirely missing the point. I doubt anybody wants a prospective owner who is ‘fooled’ by a fake crowd. But if they see a decent crowd it could be the final persuasion as to the potential, not necessarily in the short term in League 1 but the longer term. 

The best way to make this backfire on the owners to have this be a massive protest

Bloody hell, this is hard work.
It is to demonstrate that right now, Charlton are still a "biggish" club and can still attract @15,000 home fans in L1, in a cup game. Even though we are 17th and in one of the lowest positions for 100 years.
It is an up to date "show" that we still have good potential if there is a decent game to watch.
To experience a good Valley atmosphere.

It may be desperate, but the fans are an asset as long as they are not disrepected and completely pissed off. We are desperate for something to get behind and if attending the Brighton game sheds even a glimmer of a possibility of a change, we owe it to ourselves to give it a shot.

If I was the prospective buyer and there was 14000 home fans I'd want to know why they didn't bother for the Stockport home game

If I was Peter Varney sitting next to him I would explain that the owner is a complete, incompetent basket case and that a new owner would quickly get a strong grateful fanbase behind him, pointing to the 2019 play offs as an example of what is possible.

The prospective owners due diligence, because they are a credible individual who has a competent team advising them, will tell them what they need to know. Mad if people think anyone sensible is going to be influenced into buying a football club due to the attendance at a one off cup game against top league opposition when they will have all of the data on our regular attendances easily available to them. Still, I suppose it’s nice for people to feel liken they can do something positive to help their club.

This is a daft conversation, but if Peter Varney is calling for Charlton supporters to turn up for the possible good of Charlton's future, then I'll back him whether you think it's mad or not.
