Plus a 13 day pre season training camp in South Africa0

Nightwatchman Quinn cleaned up by Woakes
38-20 -
To be fair the ball that bowled Quinn would have got a lot of top batsmen out0
-
DBD out, caught in the slips, trying to work a ball to leg and getting a leading edge.
In terms of technique, this arose from DBD taking an off stump guard presumably because he wants to know exactly where his off stump is. That means he cannot on drive the ball because his front leg is blocking him off. He would have hit that through mid wicket had the ball not straightened but against this bowling, in these conditions, he really should be looking to play down the ground which he will struggle to do with that guard to that ball.
41-30 -
Denly's misery goes on. Out for a duck and 19 runs now in his 5 innings this season. Chest on to a ball as a result of his back leg coming through to a ball that moves away from him and is caught in the 4th slip/gully area
44-4

Leaning out to a beaut of a ball from Hasan Ali that leaves him and he is caught at first slip
51-5
Compton 29* (60)0 -
Good toss to win and elect to bowl.1

27-1 in the second knock too. All over by lunch probably.
As bad if not worse than 6-0 at Ipswich.
(1) Our bowling attack isn't comparable to theirs
(2) Conditions on the first day were probably marginally more seamer friendly than on the third day
(3) A number of our batsmen played irresponsible shots or ones that demonstrated a lack in technique
Warks have a seriously good attack. Two internationals in Woakes and Hasan Ali, plus Rushworth now who was really unlucky not to be capped.0 -

Compton has now faced 107 balls in the match. That is the most, by a country mile, for us and third highest in the game after centurions Yates and Hain. There is a reason for that. The simplicity of his game and the ability to recognise what represents a ball to leave, to defend or to score off.0

Cox very lucky not to be run out going for a second run. The throw only needed to be into the keeper's gloves over the stumps and he would have been gone. Why did he feel that we needed that extra run?0

82-5 at lunch
Compton 41* (101)
Cox 17* (38)0 -
Phew, we made it to lunch1

Cox gets one from Woakes that lifts off a length and that he doesn't get fully behind and he is caught at slip for 29 (44)
94-61 -
Billings, somewhat bizarrely, chops on trying not to play the ball for 4 (7)
99-71 -
Compton reaches yet another 500

Evison hits an excellent 50 too
190-7
Partnership of 91 & 105 behind still

We certainly owe a huge vote of thanks to Joey & Ben for their runs which will make this inevitable defeat look somewhat "better".0

48 runs behind. New ball is now due with another 20 overs left of play
247-8
Evison 89* (130)
McKerr 11* (56)

If Hogan is required to bat a few overs, will he cover up properly and so endanger his proud never-lbw record?0

Agent McKerr doing the business for us albeit with the bat0 -
259-8 with 12 overs remaining and it's getting darker too0

If Kent escape with a draw here it will be most unfair on Warks. They have been by far the better & more dominant team.
They had one innings & declared with half the team not having a bat & with a run rate of almost 4.5 runs an over.
On the other hand Kent have had 2 innings & nearly used all 22 batsmen......with an overall run rate of just over 3 per over.
There really should be more than just win or draw in cricket (inc ties of course).0
