Was that bat or pad first? Looked bat in real time but to me looked pad was in front of bat on slow mo.
Not sure it would've got overturned anyway. Impact looked Umpire's Call at best to me.

We're gonna see Root bowling before tea arent we!

And his quicker ball off 3 paces is only 4mph slower than Robinson's stock ball off a full run up. Don't tell the Aussies that though!

    England looking very flat today.
After winning the toss on what looks like a bowler friendly wicket I was expecting much better.

Exactly this.  Momentum is a big thing in sport.  Australia on a high from winning the first test & England deflated!!!!

198-3, with Smith set, Aus still well on top.

KP was saying we were too friendly with the Aussies.I like the way Ian Ward reminded him about how friendly he was with the Saffas

Robinson has just bowled England's 10th no ball of the day.
    Totally unacceptable.

25 extras so far. Imagine if we could play with a 12th batsman and guarantee that he would average that every innings.

If you could design a face that looks like it deserves a real hard punch it would be Steve Smith.

We've bowled 33 no balls in two and a half innings this series. It has already cost us one wicket and that's without the extra runs.

How many times in history has Extras raised his bat for the Century? Looking good for the half.

As anyone with half a brain would know, Bazball reality check when facing a decent team.

This isn't even that though. This is poor selection, complacency, poor preparation. There are fit and firing county bowlers who'd have done a much better job than this lot today

Which elements of Bazball have let England down today?

Travis Head has made a nice 60 off 55 balls. That wouldn't look out of place in this Bazball era...

Travis Head scoring runs like this when he looked like he could barely bat for Sussex is slightly maddening 😂

Today has taken me back to the Ashes between 1989 and 2001, with an ineffective England attack being ground down by the Australians

6pm on the 1st day of the 2nd Test & the Ashes have gone.

If you cant get the opposition out below 300 in great bowling conditions then you have problems.

Aussies will get 450+ and we will be struggling for a draw. Even the anticipated rain looks like it might be staying away tomorrow.

I didn't realise we were playing today until I tuned it. All I have seen since is 4's and runs off every ball.  We fucked this test series on that fucking stupid declaration in the 1st Test.
Sadly, apart form that, the true facts are that without Anderson and Broad at their young best (who could bowl for long periods) and lack of any decent spinners we won't beat the Aussies.

    We're going tomorrow, but I'm almost wishing I wasn't.
It's likely going to be painful viewing.

We haven't lost an ashes home test series since 2001, until now.

In spite of your praise for it, we needlessly lost the first test chasing a win at all costs. A 5 test series is a marathon not a sprint. We are poor at Lord's in the ashes so no surprise.I

Haha neither would his dismissal. Gone for 77, charging Root and gets stumped.
