Great news. Had a horrible feeling that he was going to go elsewhere.

He will 100% have had interest from elsewhere. This is a great signing and hopefully a sign of things to come.
  • We have a golden generation of young players and for once the club are getting them on pro contracts. Let us hope they will continue to develop and that the talent will not be wasted

That's great news. There's nothing that gets people more excited than a young striker signing a contract.

Three year contract like Leaburn a year ago shows they rate him highly. Will be very interesting to see how he progresses next season. Leaburn stepped up more than expected, while Kanu’s progress into the first team has been much slower.

Great to have another promising striker signed up. We’ve brought a lot of academy players through over the last decade or so but strikers has tended to be the weakest position in terms of making a genuine impact in the first team.

I think the difference between Leaburn and Kanu is that Leaburn is built like a centre back, big strong & can hold the ball up.

Kanu has also rarely been used to do much more than chase down defenders and run at tiring defences.

I think Kanu needs a loan out to the league below for the first half the season - much like KG.

Saw his interview yesterday and liked his attitude, constantly mentioned how he is looking to improve rather than set goals but make his debut sometime. Hopefully if he keeps scoring at the same rate, he could force his way into the plans within the next season or 2.

No, he’s one of the last few we’re waiting to hear about.

They seem to be like busses atm, waited years for one after Watson, Walsh and Leaburn senior (can't think of anymore) then Lookman, Burstow and Leaburn come along with hopefully a few others to follow.
  • With Kanu now becoming a regular in the 1st team squad is Casey now the main man at 21 level? Can’t think of any other striker who plays in the 21s

Ladapo and Viggars who were already there, plus Okechukwu turning pro alongside Casey. Wouldn’t be surprised to see either of the older two spend time on loan.

    Very happy Charlton Irish 💚
  • I think I am right in saying that only leaves Laqueretabua, Kone and Kedwell of the 2nd yr scholars not announced as signing pro...

Wouldn't mind having him around the squad for the FA Cup and EFL Trophy games , looks like a natural finisher , the rest of his game will naturally develop with time.

    Harry Kane esque celebration

some great strikes there though, left peg, right peg and head - first touch looked solid

Cameraman was filming that on a phone by the looks of it
  • Only five?  Slacker.
  • Five goals last night. Hattrick last Thursday for u18s. He’s going to tear Gillingham apart single handed on Saturday 🙂
  • On a serious note and a question for those that closely follow our younger players, how good is he ? Should we be getting excited?

Five goals in a draw.  I bet he was Mr Popular on the bus home.

Very natural finisher, may struggle with the physical aspects of men's football at this stage, not particularly strong or quick but technically very able. Certainly one to watch as he grows into his body more, some time in the gym and he could be a very good player.

Rylah is the one who I think may burst into the first team fold next, unbelievably quick and quite skilful - reminds me of blackett-taylor in that he can beat anyone but often makes the wrong choice. That will come with experience.
