117-4 off 17 and 64 needed off 42 balls. Off the field yet again and we are in front on DLS

Bazley finishes with superb figures of 5-0-20-2

Yorkshire needed to be on 119 at the point that rain stopped play which shows how big that last wicket was

At the same stage we were 51-4 so Yorkshire are only 63 ahead at this stage for the loss of the same number of wickets but, as I say, are 2 runs behind on DLS. Always liked DLS.

By Sandwich - he’s their overseas player
  • Phew!!

Thought DLS  was going to be our bete noir again !

Well done to Joey and Ben for putting us in such a good position at the halfway point. Let's hope it wasn't a one off.

Let's make this our season saving comp again !

Essex meanwhile have also signed an Aussie for this competition, who had been playing for Upminster.

If this 50 over format had existed a few years ago, maybe we would have signed Marnus Labuschagne to play in it when he was at Sandwich!

He is the captain of the 50 over team but has a side injury keeping him out so I think he was helping out with the coaching. I also suspect that he was at the Hertfordshire game because his nephew was playing in that game.
  • Just seen the england u19s squad for their up and coming games, not a single kent player in there…. Is the talent coming through just drying up? Doesn’t seem to be any noise of the next DBD, northeast etc

There are three 17 year olds coming through at the moment but very little that is older than that - Jadyn Denly (Joe's nephew - left arm spinning all rounder), Ekansh Singh (top 4 bat) and Barney Ford (left arm quick.

We will have had six overseas players this season which must be a record for us - Linde, Richardson, Agar, Singh, Bazley and Lister this season

It's the modern way, with players dipping in and out for a few games, depending on other commitments or what format is being played. Hard to really care about any of them when compared to the "old days" when they'd come over for the whole summer, for several seasons.

Durham have scored 427-9 against Sussex in 50 overs. No Sussex bowler went at less than 7.75 an over. They were 326-1 off less than 36 overs so are probably disappointed that they only added another 101 runs in the final 14 overs or so.

You're forgetting about the great signing that was Linde in that respect! Sadly it's because we are fishing in the murky waters of the "not so good overseas pool" that, hopefully, we won't make the same mistake again of giving someone untested over here a two year contract. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing Big Wes back next season especially as he is one of the few we've had in recent years who has been decent in both red and white ball.

Lister is another overseas that we appear to have recruited while playing club cricket here - he's playing for Horsham this season in the Sussex League

No Robinson, as he's been picked by the Northern Superchargers, making it even more of a farce that he couldn't get in our Blast side.

Not a bad way of doing it, as they'll be settled in this country and proven in the conditions.

Indeed it begs the question as to how many overseas players are actually over here in the summer, when you consider all the leagues. The Lancashire League is famous for this, but clearly there are decent overseas players all over the country.

So, we play Leicestershire today. We have won the toss and elected to bowl. One change and a welcome back to Nathan Gilchrist - his first game in the First Team since the 20th April's CC game against Essex when he returned figures in the match of 25-2-139-0. Let's hope that he has a much better day today.

The live stream doesn't appear to be working.
  • Only just logged on & very disappointed that there's no live stream.

Anyone know if there has been any explanation from the commentators ?

    Prophetic words on the site:

"The live stream will be coming from The County Ground, Beckenham, where work has been taking place this past week to ensure a steady live stream with sound. Should there be any technical issues, they will be worked on as soon as they arise by the Club’s staff on-site."

Not a great start from us - Leics are 55-0 off 6. I'm not seeing what is going on but I fear that there is something wrong with Gilchrist this season. He's bowled 3 overs so far for 36 including a wide and two no balls.

  • Hurrah ! Video issue appears to have been fixed ....

Now we need a couple of wickets !
