He doesn't fit into the formation or style of football Jones is playing.

We've definitely missed him though in the sense that we've missed his goal and assist contributions that has led us to lean on May even more

Conspicuous by how we haven't missed him at all. All mentions have disappeared. No 'if only CBT were here'. It's fine, you were all wrong, even Garrymanilow, but I can see why you were wrong, he had goal contribution stats on his side. Everything else, though
Him leaving was one of the biggest reasons we got even worse under Appelton and offered zero attacking threat in games.

Not like Louth to miss the point, completely ignore the facts and the long losing run so as to try to troll the board.

The long losing run that CBT played most of?

I mean sure, if we hadn't signed Small we'd miss him. I know which player contributes more though

I agree with Leuth, it’s not what he did do, it’s what he didn’t do that cost us. Not hindsight, I said this at the time too.

0.85 xG and he stood on the ball & fell over.

Hasn’t fully got the Charlton out of his system it seems.

I believe that he might be quantum entangled with Chuks
  • He was always a poor finisher, though that is more than poor.

If he was a good finisher he would be playing above L1 given his pace etc.

If he was in a Charlton shirt, he would have tapped it in to the empty net.

some players seem to click at some clubs and fail elsewhere (Kirk for example) and I think CBT falls into that category. I have a feeling that he will be out on loan somewhere by January
  • We might be on a promotion bonus for him , plus I’d rather Derby went up than Bolton but would like both of them up with Pompey , I’d see any of them as more likely to be a threat to promotion next season than the rest of the guff up there
I think Wrexham will be up there.

I don’t. I read an article earlier that they owe the Hollywood actors £10m and due to ffp, they won’t be able to compete wage wise with the top clubs
  • No involvement for Derby against Blackburn this evening, not even on the bench.

Wasnt involved in their last Pre-Season friendly either

    Hurt? Or not fancied?

I wondered that, but he was involved in some capacity in their other pre-season games, although did notice that prior to their recent win against Real Valladolid, they lost three on the trot, vs. Barnsley (4-3) - Shrewsbury (2-1) - Chesterfield (4-0)

So can only presume that Corey didnt overly impress.

No problem this thread being bumped up while he’s injured or not pulling up any trees
but if he starts doing well I will question why the Corey Blackett Taylor thread is getting resurrected about a former player playing in a higher division that is not relevant to us and wonder why the poster can’t move on now he’s gone

Things not going well at Derby from the looks of it

Blessing in disguise him going. Was never going to fit the way Jones wanted to play.

Wonder if his agent is still moaning about Charlton on X. That was a weird episode.

    CBT = Constantly Broken Taylor

I saw this on X last night

They are not at all happy about him and feel well and truly ripped off :-)
  • I may have this wrong, but didn't he struggle with a couple of clubs before us?  If so, it's a lesson for players that, if it clicks somewhere, you might be better staying.

There's plenty of analogies in the 'real world' of work.  But then we don't usually have the risk of a career ending injury and a 5-year insurance payout at current salary.  I think that's what swings it in the end.

Sounds like it’s more about injuries than ability, which he’s not proven either way for them yet?
  • I hope this is a strong lesson for Thierry Small

Thierry Small has enough on his plate keeping his place in the side over Josh Edwards here, never mind an upcoming move to a higher ranked club.
