there's no football related romance in lowering the EFL bar to accommodate small clubs, all it does is make the gap between the divisions even greater and brings a closed shop PL1 and PL2 with no relegation from it even closer.2 -

The point is, I know there are loads of pubs in Bromley, but theres nothing within a 15-20 minute walk of the ground. And the "quick way" from the station involves walking down a long narrow alleyway behind the school.
It's all a bit out of the way and genteel for hundreds of northerners to be turning up en masse looking for a pint/row.
with only a 5k capacity and a first year in the EFL, worrying about ‘hundreds’ of away fans probably isn’t going to be much of a concern0 -

Talking of pubs, the Downham Tavern was lively yesterday with celebrations led by former poster Nolly. Last i heard he had bought several bottles of champagne for the whole bar to enjoy. He's probably still there.3

Whoever made the comments about away fans causing trouble in Bromley is a clown. Hayes Lane is 15 mins from Bromley South, there are plenty of L1 grounds with further afield pubs
I'd rather be an away fan drinking in Bromley than Charlton. I doubt anyone would agree otherwise, maybe the clown.

Don't get the love in for Bromley here. They're an extension of Palace as far as I'm concerned. Don't see anywhere as much 'love' on here for Welling, Dartford or Ebbsfleet.

Personally, I've been to a few of their games and I have no idea if any attendees also have other allegiances. Normal people there watching a game of football.3 -

As a ‘Bromley boy’ it’s quite interesting reading the spectrum of responses to their recent success on here.
I’m Bromley born and bred and started going to watch Bromley in my teens when games didn’t clash with Charlton. At that time, they were a couple of steps down in non-League and far enough from Charlton for it to be a totally different kettle of fish.
Through going to Bromley, it also set me on my way in my career, getting my first bylines covering them for the News Shopper. As a by-product to that, I got to know a lot of the brilliant people behind the scenes who have helped build it over the last 15+ years so have a strong affinity to them. They’ve always been my ‘second team’ and so was there to support them yesterday.
I’ve also got plenty of Bromley-based friends and acquaintances who support Charlton and have a soft-spot for Bromley. Anecdotally, the ‘Bromley are Palace/Millwall’ claim is a bit of a moot point because of that as it doesn’t ring true for me.
Really, Bromley is a hotbed for all three clubs, but I guess it depends on who you know and what circles you move in for that to be true in your eyes or not.

Back in the 70s Bromley had quite a few hard bastards that supported them who happened to be Arsenal fans.
I could name them as some of them were very well known on the hooligan scene.
When Bromley played Swindon away in the FA CUP in the late 70s we took a couple of coaches from Cherries wine bar ( now the spoons opposite Bromley South Station ).
Bromley has always had a mixture of fans from league clubs and still has , no fucking way is it a Palace club.
I hardly ever go now as I'm a Charlton season ticket holder and still do plenty of away games but I know a lot of people who do go and they ain't fucking Palace.8 - Sponsored links:

Like them, I was cheering for Bromley yesterday and genuinely pleased that they have made it into League Two. However, how long will it take for us to change our tune?
