Do you know who else referees? The referee tonight, and he gave a penalty. I bet he’s a better ref than you.newyorkaddick said:
I referee.....VaR is re-refereeing the game instead of intervening in clear and obvious errors. Show me the law that says you can't put your studs up.Dazzler21 said:
Assume you've never played the game? I've only played Sunday league level and even there a studs up challenge is dangerous and falls under the definition of reckless.newyorkaddick said:
Studs up isn't mentioned in the laws....was it careless or reckless? Obviously notDazzler21 said:
A studs up challenge is dangerous play and is a foul and a booking. The 'obvious error' was thinking it was a clean clash of feet rather than a studs up one.newyorkaddick said:Literally the worst use or VAR I have ever seen, absolutely ridiculous
Only after he was told to go and look at the monitor by VAR.2 -
i think we have been brilliant. The dutch have been really poor - they have played a bit like how we played in the previous games imo2
-
Couldn't give a toss if it was or wasn't a penalty. That's for '93, Koeman...7
-
Excellent half from us, would bring on Shaw and Toney at the restart though,

Cmon England, do it for Graham Taylor!

Would like to see Shaw on the left for Trippier1

Just looked it up, neither was he…newyorkaddick said:

The scores 1-1 and the Dutch are well capable of scoring again despite the fact we are bossing the midfield.Manic_mania said:i think we have been brilliant. The dutch have been really poor - they have played a bit like how we played in the previous games imo0 -
Wonder if he had a set back in training or something.Elthamaddick said:Would like to see Shaw on the left for Trippier
Madness we took him if we knew he wouldn't be fit for even the semi final.1 -
If Luke Shaw can give us 45 minutes we win this tie. They've shut down the middle. They are playing really tight on Saka. There is so much space down that left side.Foden has been great. It's scary how confident Mainoo looks.
Would like to see a bit more from Rice and Jude but otherwise very good.6 -

Playing Kane at the moment is like playing without a main striker he needs to decide if he is a striker or midfielder2
-
Shaw's minutes have to be managed. Out for ages, he can't suddenly play full 90s and 120s.2
-
Probably got the prospect of Extra-Time on our minds... If he comes on in the 60th minute, he'll play for an hour (max).SELR_addicks said:

Box Park, for an England match, looks like one of the seven circles of hell.13

Gary Neville complete twat.1
-
To offer a neutral view. Spanish TV called it as a penalty immediately and never wavered - once it went to VAR they said it was going to be given.
You lot need to be a bit more one-eyed!7 -
Clearly the best 45mins in the tournament so far.
So poor from Rice to give them the goal.
Penalty is farcical, but about time England got a dodgy decision in a big game.
I am concerned that the Dutch will mix it up at Half Time and Southgate won't react. It's also a worry that we keep getting caught man for man on the break. Someone else has got to drop in and give us that extra cover1 -
In fairness we didn’t need tonight to know that.Hartleypete said:Gary Neville complete twat.3 -
It would give England so much balance on the left.Elthamaddick said:Would like to see Shaw on the left for Trippier
Trippier works so hard but everyone and their Auntie knows he has no left foot. He tried to cross one ball with his left and it went to the keeper.
Think on your feet Gareth and get Shaw on at least by 60 minutes.0 -
Looks like Shaw for Trippier which makes sense.0

Yeah? That's what I meant - they HAVE been poor. But have a goal in them despite the midfield being bossed by the opposition. A bit like us in the last few games??soapboxsam said:

Doesnt that goal for Kane take him level in the race for the Golden Boot?0
-
Can we please sort this out in 90 minutes please.2
-
Finally we have turned up, and played like we can - expansive, creative, attacking - flair players given licence0
-
Hmm not sure if I like it to be honest, feels too earlyphilcafc said:Looks like Shaw for Trippier which makes sense.
Then again we're not losing one of our three stoppages to make subs by making it at HT... Worst case scenario we can swap him for Eze with our sixth sub in ET0 -
I know that was said in jest, but in reality its karma for Lampard's "goal" against the Germans in 2010. That incident was the catalyst for VAR being introduced.CAFCTrev said:Thats revenge for Koeman in 93!

“But they’re never given!” is what I’ve seen a lot online already…ken_shabby said:To offer a neutral view. Spanish TV called it as a penalty immediately and never wavered - once it went to VAR they said it was going to be given.

The above argument has some weight. But it should be treated as the foul that it is - anywhere on the pitch it’s an easy free kick and yellow card.
It’s rarely given because the punishment of a penalty feels harsh because it didn’t prevent the attacker getting a shot off. It’s the same as these modern handball rules - a penalty feels too harsh a punishment for whatever benefit the attacker missed out on.1 -
Prolly just easier and quicker to say what Trev saidgolfaddick said:
