Coverage drives me mad at times. Why on earth were we watching a chat in the studio whilst the omnium was going on and then only watching the last few laps of each race?
  • So far kite surfing and kayak cross are the two of the new events that make me wish they'd existed when I was a teenager. Of course it helps that the competitors make the sports look easier than they actually are - I have no idea how the kite-surfers stay upright.

I take it the Italian gave up cos he knew he’d be getting relegated for the earlier move on the German?

Not the best last 20 mins or so for our cyclists.

Absolute stonking ride from Carlin then though.

Brutal race between the 2 riders. Should relegate both and reinstate Turnbull   :D

No news yet, not that I've heard anyway.

They really don't want Hayter breaking away in this points race. Pricks.

Sinden through to Semis in the Taekwondo after kicking his opponent in the head, which I was screaming at the telly for him to do. 😀
Loses in the semi. In the QF he scored points at will, but he couldn't get anywhere near the Jordanian
Sinden pulls out of the bronze medal fight with an injury which had hampered him in the semi final. That explains why he was so much more cautious than in the QF.

Brilliant run by Tebogo of Botswana in the 200m to win Gold in 19.46. USA Bednarek Silver 19.62 with the COVID, Lyles with the Bronze 19.70.

Noah Lyles runs with COVID, that's an interesting decision. Could be good for GB in the relay as none of our sprinters were there tonight to catch it from him ...

KJT throws her best shot ever beating her seasons best. Her best event 200m coming up now. Her main rival came second. (This is on Eurosport) which has gone to the men’s javelin and the women’s long jump in between races. bbc are prob still showing a VT about KJT

So Noah Lyles had a face mask while waiting in the room with the other competitors before while knowing he had COVID but afterwards he hugged the Silver Medalist Kenny Bednarek before he sat down and was wheeled off. Bizarre, considering he did his normal showman entrance into the arena.

The BBC coverage has been fine tonight, showing the races, and field events between them
  • Americans are weird.

"World Champion of What" trending after Noah Lyles said NBA players shouldn't be called World Champions given they're only champions of America and don't play anyone else.

    Firstly, he was right.

Secondly, erm... World Champion of the 100m?

Thirdly, he's your athlete, enjoy him getting medals!!

    Odd.

Kat JT has had a really good 1st day in 4 events, achieving a PB in the Shot Put. May need the same in the Javelin to get to the Gold.

US have dominated the track events

Since the demise and dominance of the Jamaicans in the men and Women's Sprinting it was good to see Tebogo of Botswana win the 200m Men's and Julien Alfred from St Lucia win the women's 100M.
  • Sydney McLaughlin is unreal.

Has broken the 400m hurdles world record 6 times, first woman to run under 52 seconds, then under 51. Retains her Olympic title and hasn't lost over the distance since 2019!!

Similar to Kerr last night, in both races the Americans were brilliant, rather than the Brits throwing it away.
2 so called favourites for Gold.

Along with the bikes, the rowers, the clay shooter & the equestrian there have been Gold medals there for the taking & for one reason or another its slipped from our grasp.

How much better the medal table would look with 4 or 5 more Golds.

(because we all know Gold is everything...😉)
Do you have to moan about fucking everything? Jesus, you must be so draining to live with.
Why do you think I was moaning ? I was merely stating a fact. Lots of other posters have commented on all sorts of things & none are told that they are "fucking moaning".

I think this says more about you than me.
Are you moaning at him moaning about your alleged moaning?

    Fine margins though, wasn't it?
Could of easily gone a lot worse or another day 2 strides better.
The woman, (Rutter), in the shooting was a tad unlucky she did hit the skeet but the judges disagreed and her opponent obviously didn't see it.
The BMX girl got her tactics wrong for the final after being clearly the best.
Winning means nothing if too easy.
The BMX woman had been consistently second best. The Aussie had also won all her heats and semifinals, and was slightly faster.

How was she consistently second best? She won every single race she was in apart from the final
