No, I don't think that.

this is why the straw boater bloke had a problem. he had wads of reddies but they just wouldn't accept them. So he got the hump and chucked a semi poured frothy larger over some poor student who had just come here from some war torn country and this was his first experience working behind a bar where he was hoping to try and integrate himself in British culture and make a little money that he could send back to his parents who are saving up to come and join him here.

Except the programme, which can only be paid for in cash, other in the shop, as far as I know.0 -

The staff should be properly paid because the prices people pay are very high.
I have heard capitalists say that a market finds its own level, if that is true then something has to happen. Exploiting the workforce in order to squeeze a marginal profit whilst alienating customers seems to be a poor version of capitalism…unless you have a monopoly or a captive market.I doubt any government will materially change that rate.In this case I think really the issue is training / familiarity and that can only be down to the third party outsourced provider.Supply and demand will ultimately apply and mean custom is limited but practically I think it’s just another example of how poor a choice food and drink is inside football grounds and indeed any comparable venue. I make you right in your observation that chips from the local chip shop are better value.
Anyone who falls for the Peroni baloney deserves to pay £7.40 a pint...
We don't/barely train them, don't retain them and they won't be passing on their experience as it's generally different people each match behind the bars.
Presumably when they have more experience of bar work they will be paid more by G&G and won't be at The Valley.
If the scenario is as you say, then we are wasting out time even discussing it.0 -

I automatically know because of my age and education that if you hand over £1 for something costing 80p the change is 20p.
Indeed I also know in old money that if you hand over £1 for something costing 7s11d you get 12s1d change.
Most of my generation can do that kind of thing in their head. Now people can’t calculate the change from £1 for an 80p purchase without a machine.1 -
We will be in The Fans Bar again tomorrow with our cocktails.
£6 each or 2 for £8.50
or if we win after the match - 2 for £6!13 -

I kind of remember many moons ago I had been travelling and working abroad doing various jobs that didn’t require me to use my brain when it came to simple arithmetic (other than foreign exchange). I returned to the UK and worked in a pub where you had to add up the price of the drinks as you went along (and playing darts). I then started work in an office whereby I had to use a calculator (only recently introduced into the office which shows how long ago I am talking about). I continued to work in the pub for a little while longer but then found it increasingly difficult to mentally add up and then became more and more reliant on a calculator. I quit the pub.
I also find the same with the use of a pen as nowadays I’m always using typing into my laptop, IPad or IPhone. My handwriting now looks as though I’ve written out a prescription! And lets not get on to remembering telephone numbers like we use to do.How many people here know their family and friends phone number? 🥸

This would be achieved by G&G/us no longer employing the cheapest level agency staff, but perhaps "employing" the next level up.
I can't recall if this was said under TS or GFP, but either way it doesn't appear to have happened/made much of a difference.1 -
