Whether you agree with them or not, it would have been better for the club if we had sold out of them.5 -

I wonder how much these "famous" scarves cost, how many were sold and how many were left. Ie how much money did the club actually make from them, and was it worth it?

On "Where's the Money Gone" podcast....Methven gives some insights into the financial returns and issues around leveraging Wrexham's visit to the valley - including referencing half and half scarfs and Mark Goldbridge. Very interesting. I am at work so haven't the time to give a summary - kindly go f yourself4

A welcoming place for all visitors including away teams. Nonsense that does us absolutely no favours and probably helps the oppo.
I am pleased for Wrexham having watching the doc and think good for them as a working class town as the club has really given them as sense of identity and pride....but when it comes to matchday fuck them.
Rolling out the carpet as if it's a long lost relative, jesus wept.0 -

Speaks an awful lot in public for a bloke who has achieved sweet FA at the club. Says a lot that his biggest achievement at Charlton is flogging some scarves. Total div.11

Listen to the fucking podcast and THEN you can snipe if you want.
but clearly a lot of research and effort went in to the whole day and various initiatives were tried. And the fact remains we generated a ton of additional food & drink sales and merchandise as well as an extra 10,000 ticket sales.Like it or loathe it but Wrexham being a shit-ton of interest so we tapped into it and made some money out of it.
perhaps we should applaud the club for trying to be ahead of the curve.44 -

I've just watched the podcast with Charlie Methven podcast, and he seems to talk about how lower league teams are trying to increase their revenue, looking for a global market, trying to tap into individual games, because of their high profile, like Wrexham and Birmingham, and to me he made a lot of sense. When the amount of money spent on the transfer market is becoming more controlled by your revenue, a percentage of that, then any extra money raised will be paramount. It seems obvious, but he spoke about a lot of lower league teams rely on their fanbase or owners to fund the majority of the income. I know on here he is seen as a bit of a prick, but to me he spoke a lot of economic sense.10

Would I make half and half scarves at my club? No
Swings and roundabouts but ultimately he’s £1400 up on me…
Except he’s not the next time he pays Allan Campbells poxy wages0 -

I'll give him the praise he thinks he deserves if and when we gain promotion to the championship.
All the while we remain a mid table league one side playing crap football I shall continue to think Andy Scott and Charlie Methven are a couple of chancers

For all the good work they done promoting the game, the main talking point from everyone is about half an half scarves.
For me, its a no no and I most definitely do not like seeing another teams badge in our shop.4 -

Patting himself on the back for a very small initiative for a single game is all well and good. But where’s the long term strategy? The half/half scarf thing was a Del Boy / market stall opportunity that may have raised a few hundred quid, but this is a big football club with (hopefully) some ambition ? I can’t believe we have now become a club that are trying to feed off scraps from Wrexham.6

Better believe it. All of league 1 is living off the wipes Deadpool has finished cleaning his arse with. Fact.0

Surely we've reached the full time whistle on this thread...the match finished a month ago...🤦♂️8
