Had a great run this morning, took 35 secs off my post Covid PB. Despite Avery Hill being much busier due to Danson being cancelled.
Have been off this week for half term and been out and about every day. Amazing how much stronger my legs felt simply by not sitting down at a computer every day.
That's fantastic - it's amazing what just being active every day can do to you, my PB came while I was travelling and had been doing about 20,000 steps a day for five weeks!
I did Bushy on Saturday, with just the 1,600-odd other people. My second time there - the first time was during the Rugby World Cup in Australia and "only" 800 people were there. Had never been by public transport before - walking through so close to the deer was quite an experience.
It's actually a good course, it's a bit crazy with so many people but they've got it down to a fine art. I was pleased to have gone back.
Back to Kettering today. 57 times there. Sticking to local runs unless on holiday in future. Staved off exceeding 30 mins for the first time ever for another week at least, with a minute and a half to spare too 😉
Charlton was the destination of choice for my other half to complete her 400th parkrun yesterday. Very proud of her. It was pacer week and the poor bloke I chose to try and keep up with had to put up with me practically holding his hand whilst breathing very heavily in his ear. He did an excellent job as I ran a PB for the event. Super friendly as always and as Arnie would say, "I'll be back"
Did a slight detour yesterday on my training run to scout hilly fields, as they do a junior park run there. Only ran the east side of the course, having taken on vicars hill to get there but think I’ll be keeping my boy at Norman park!

I've volunteered a lot at Hilly Fields juniors - it's great, lots of very fast kids there, despite the hill!
Hornfair Park juniors is doing well, seems to have settled down at about 25-30 kids a week.
I ran the Porto Marathon the Sunday before last. Quite a fun way to see the city but ended up being quite a tough morning. Assume the marathon was set in November to avoid the heat but ended up being 24 degrees which was too hot for me, very cobbly streets and despite not having loads of elevation gain, there were a few uphill sections that were killer on tired legs. The heat seemed to catch a few out as I've never seen so many walking the end of a marathon. I just about managed to dig in and finish without stopping to walk and kept my time under 4 hours which I'm happy with. Looking forward to keeping the fitness levels topped up and see what I can do going forward, eyeing up Edinburgh now

Great effort. Cobbles streets and heat are my two worse nightmares. I am doing battersea in a couple of weeks which is ten laps of the park. Billed as the uk’s flattest marathon but it’s going to be a war of attrition mentally running round in circles!

Cool, I'm doing that too. The 10 laps will help with storing and collecting any supplies, plus anyone coming to watch. Hopefully the weather is the same as the last couple of Saturdays.

271 of us at Avery Hill and a nice atmosphere as always. Son got a 25 milestone shout out and then went on to do a big PB, and niece similarly took a chunk off her PB. Good morning all round
Wimbledon Common this morning - tricky trail course, still muddy in a couple of parts despite the lack of rain, although I probably should have left the trail shoes at home.
One of the best run directors I've ever seen, she must have personally cheered most of the 500-odd runners over the line.

As an honorary Plum myself, thats a great, testing run that we used to run often as a training run. And its in memory of the late and very great Ray Marshall, who we all miss very much which is a bonus.
Shorne Woods is cancelled tomorrow. I understand why the organisers made the decision but in my opinion it is an incorrect decision due to dodgy weather apps.
Northampton race course. Conditions much better than expected. I managed to lose my watch, well, by that I mean it had trouble tracking me, no idea why, but the readings were mostly gobbledegook. 28.31 taking it easy.
