Perfect morning for Parkrun this morning, sun out but a bit of freshness. Managed to equal my best time in the last 4 years. Really chuffed with that, Covid first wave undoubtedly impacted my lung capacity and I’m still over 3 mins off what I was running before, but it’s a nice feeling being really pleased with your run.

Then immediately lost that feeling when realising I’ve left my jacket on a bench :-(

Fastest in my age group this morning*, least bad time of the year yay…
Also smashed an important letter off my alphabet challenge

*It absolutely still counts even if I was the only one in it yay 👍🏻
  • Good Luck getting your Z, if you haven't already done so, you'll have to break out the passport.

Moors Valley was my destination of choice yesterday. Beautiful country park, set in woodlands.
Over 500 runners meant for a slow start on a fairly narrow track, but i still got round in a decent time.
  • Wormwood Scrubs for me yesterday - slightly tricky course but a lot of fun and a great morning for it.

Anyone heading out for the German unity day runs this week?

There are some challenges I'm not bothered about,  and travelling abroad to tick off alphabet letters doesn't appeal to me personally. I feel guilty enough driving an hour or so to tick off NENDY's for less than half an hours running. I've chosen to target the P-Index  instead, hoping to get that to ten by running each of the ten courses closest to home ten times. I'm happy to finish on the 50 tourist runs I've completed to date, but I have three in mind for next year to do during UK city holiday breaks if the stars align.

It's a means to an end for me - a good excuse for a week and a bit away (especially as I didn't really get away during the summer). I do wish the fly-out, fly-back crowd who literally just go for the run would take a look at themselves, though.

Oops, that was me….can I be forgiven if I promise not to do it again?
  • I think parkrun is different things to different people.  If I'm away on my hols, and there is one nearby, I might go and do it. My pet hate is when people talk over the pre run briefing and don't thank the marshals on the way round. I get it towards the end when you can't breath and feel like being sick, but it costs nothing to say thanks for volunteering.

It will be my 100th this Saturday, at Avery Hill. I know it’s just a number but i do feel it’s some form of personal achievement, so I’m really looking forward to the milestone. If anyone else is running there Saturday please do say hello

Nice one, you’re a couple of months ahead of me (although you’ve probably taken less time to get there). I’ve not done Avery Hill yet and will get there but I have to stay local this week…..

Off the mark for volunteering at long last, my 20th birthday present to Parkrun.

    Runs completed 248
    Volunteering 1

With any luck, they won't have to wait another twenty years before I have another go 🤣

Absolutely loved my 100th milestone today and topped it with my fastest run since the last Parkrun before the Covid break in March 20.  So that was nice. Just enjoy getting out in the morning with family and doing something healthy. Cannot recommend Parkrun to people enough and wished I’d started years before I did.

Great to see @WSS. My lad was 2 seconds outside he’s PB so he was gutted :-)

I did my first parkrun in ages. Adding my first time round cyclopark in Gravesend in the middle of my long run this weekend. Good prep for a half marathon next week.

Stayed local today but the 300m EXTRA just to stay away from the hornets was bloody annoying again…
  • Ran Sutcliffe this week.  Lovely weather for a run and my other half ran her fastest time in a year!  Great day all round

Just about to run in the Chichester Half Marathon which includes running up and down the trundle which is the big hill behind Goodwood racecourse.

On tour! Did Unisee parkrun in Bremen on Thursday for German Unity Day, and Moorbek parkrun in Norderstedt, just north of Hamburg, yesterday. My 97th and 98th different runs - pleased with them both.

So cold yesterday morning that there was frost on the ground… then I ended up catching the sun at football (at Altona) seven hours later!

Chichester Half was pretty brutal, resting with a couple of blisters from the tough terrain.
Noticed a good few runners from Ashford & District Running Club participating today.
Happy with my time considering the hill of 1hr 50mins.

This morning, I upped my 'P' Index to 7, which has nothing to do with how many times I have to get up to go in the night btw.

I'm heading home from the north so stopped in Stafford for my 2nd 'I' at Isabel Trail. That finishes my name and the Old MacDonald challenge (EIEIO).

Anyone here go to Battersea today? I'm reading worrying things about its future already, eg there will be a council review if 1000+ people ever attend. So that's 10am Saturday 19th then.

96th parkrun for me, been in the nervous 90s for a while... Think I need to up my cardio game as finding it really difficult last few months. Been doing some weight training instead which is unlikely to help too much

My daughter is in Chicago for a big NCAA Cross Country running meet today, although she’s a Nordic Skier she also runs for her University (Alaska) & gets to compete all over the US. College sports in the US are taken very seriously. She’ll be aiming for around 22 mins on the 6km course.

At the same time my wife is part of a relay team running a mountain trail marathon this morning here in Canmore, Alberta. That’s where my daughter gets her running genes from!!

I do get out there myself though, indeed I’ve a brand new pair of runners to break in later today.

Always enjoy reading about everyone’s exploits - we actually have a spectacular park run here with incredible scenery but the concept hasn’t taken off like the UK - so there are usually around 30 runners - nearly all British tourists m.

I'm gonna guess queen elizabeth then. I've driven past it a few times and seen the cliff that it's run on

Was it their first one today? If so I’ll be spiky when volunteering at the juniors tomorrow…
  • For a good community feel i cannot recommend Lordship recreation parkrun highly enough.  Super friendly with a nice little cafe for a bacon sandwich and hot drink after.  I'll definitely be back to run this one again and hopefully get round a bit quicker.

Wasn’t in the mood for it this morning but dragged myself round and glad I did afterwards. Wore my 100 t-shirt for the first time. Niece PB’d for 2nd week in row so pleased for her.
