Riddlesdown yesterday - tough trail course but fun with wonderful volunteers. That’s my 50th London run (the finish is right on the Surrey border so it counts), 90th overall.
Stayed overnight in Eastbourne after going to a gig in Brighton last night and discovered there was a junior parkrun on the front. So I was a funnel manager there this morning!
Not convenient for many I'm sure, but I'll put it on here anyway in case any of you fancy entering a team or as a team. Next month though, so not much time to prep. I'll be there, but running for one of my Club's teams.
Part of the run club I'm an ambassador for (https://www.runsocial.club/) is holding a very very casual 11km on Sunday.
Starting from the 7R gym in Woolwich (11am for an 11.15 start), we'll be doing 6-6.30kms pace with a cafe stop at halfway and an area booked at the Dial Arch.
We'll have a speaker with us playing some music as well - feel free to come along if you want.
What a glorious morning. Here I am sitting on the grass, in the shade of a big tree, reading my Kindle in the beautiful surroundings of Mt Ephrain while Mrs Hex runs 10k in the heat and humidity !!!

I ran that today. It was super hot/humid.i was close to stopping in the final hill, not just walking but stopping moving for a bit. Still enjoyed it and given the course and heat was more than happy with my time.
Laboured round Irchester Country Park yesterday. Something isn't right with my breathing and hasn't been most of this year.
Have you had COVID? Took me months to recover after I caught it last summer and I haven't fully recovered
That's possible. I had a cough develop last December that never seems to have left me fully. Hardly noticeable now though. I did test around that time and it was negative, but that's inconclusive even though I've never had COVID to the best of my knowledge.
I've had chest X-ray's come back clear, have been having recurring minor nose bleeds, but apparently my white blood cell count is fine, so we're trying to get the bottom of that and I have some prescribed cream to try and stop it. Four days clear now 🤞
I have high blood pressure, for which I take medication, but we don't think it's that as I've had that for donkeys years. .
My latest "suspicion" is it's nasal polyps restricting my breathing, which if they don't respond to treatment can be surgically removed. Allergens might have something to do with it, but as with many conditions, it seems more a process of elimination to find the root cause.
In the meantime, I'm having to breathe only through my mouth when running, doing much fly catching at the same time 🤣
Is it possible to tell if you've had COVID after the event?
Got a least baddest time of the year (by my watch at least) in Peckham today which was surprising as it was such a lovely morning it felt like it took a lot out of me.
Cherry on top though was that whilst riding home I overtook the tailwalker at Brockwell Parkrun just completing their last corner.
I know I was on a bike by then but it just put an absurdly big smile on my face…
Lovely sunny morning at Avery Hill. After heavy work and no exercise this was just happy to get round without walking and chipped about 20 secs off last week
Earlier in the year I started experiencing excruciating pain - stabbing and bad enough to wake we - linked to exercise and really any movement.
Self diagnosed groin strain of some sort after consultation with Dr Google (a very pessimistic member of the medical profession!). Spent ten very frustrating weeks without any exercise until things improved, researched warms up to prevent such injury and have gently built back up to 5km at Mote Park. Running 10 - 15 km a week and absolutely zero problems
Anyway hoping to run my first for an age next week!
Recently run the Goodwood Estate 5 mile hill climb run. It was horrendous weather but an interesting experience. Look forward to running it again in better weather next year.
Anyone running the big half next week? I Got a cheap place through work. Treating it as a training run as I am also doing royal parks half in a few weeks.
Disaster!!!!!! This years Squeaky Bone Relay event has been cancelled All monies to be refunded. Issues over sponsorship and a low number of team entries with less than a month to go, which is surprising given its usual popularity. Hopefully it will return next year, but if it's too much hassle for the Olney Runners to arrange, it may go the way of our Club's annual Two Counties Half Marathon event, which took in parts of Northants and Leicestershire. It was suspended during COVID and never restarted due to similar issues that appear to have beset our friends from Olney.

That’s a shame. Post here next year and I will see if our club can get a team together to do it.
Did Harrow yesterday on the basis of a) me being determined to go touristing despite the weather and b) it being fairly near Harrow-on-the-Hill station so I might avoid a soaking on the way.
I still got soaked. But the rain eased off for the run itself, and it was all good, one of those lovely local runs where everyone knows each other. Deceptive hill too.
Went to Old Deer Park last weekend - like Charlton but posher (rugby pitches instead of football pitches) and with a swimming pool next door.
Was going to do the RunThrough event in Regents Park today but made a last-minute decision to volunteer at Hornfair Park junior parkrun instead - that's coming along very nicely, still more volunteers than kids but lots trying it for the first time (and enjoying it).

I am all set and looking forward to my highlight of 2024! Have done my running three times a week and hoping for a personal record. Will have to get my bib early Sunday morning though. Travelling straight to Reading from the airport Saturday. Very much good luck, @kigelia, and everyone else participating.
It's sounding like over 6000 went to Bushy's 1000th event today. Apparently they ran out of tokens and had to start writing numbers on people's arms.
I was at Brockwell thankfully. I did Greenpoint in Cape Town last week, some of the trail running in Cape Town is mental compared to ours (scrambling, ladders, jumping into pools).

The emphasis is on the social, not the run.
Anyone who can run a sub 3 hrs 52 marathon, count yourself as potential Olympic standard

It's coming .... some will say an appropriate commentary on my 100th ! .... but hopefully the worst will be after parkrun and before the match.
