    Whisky?

Back in the day I seem to remember Ray Treacy used to rub whisky into his legs pre match maybe it caught on with this squad.
Ray being Irish would drink Whiskey and use whisky as a muscle rub.

  • We were very grateful to Ben Hayes and the Charlton Musuem team for showing us around the museum last Saturday.

We would recommend a visit to the museum to anyone with a football interest.

It made our trip to The Valley last Saturday well worthwhile. Keep up the good work guys! It was good to meet you all.
  • It was good to bump you into you all in the Oak and then show you around.

Always happy to show people what the team of volunteers have achieved.

Not sure those where the best photos you took

Where are the one from our private lounge overlooking the pitch or you with the trophies?

I see that someone keeps moving that life sized statue of Henry Irving around the museum, hopefully you will find the right spot for it soon.
  • Nordic scarves
    I can’t stand those half’n’half scarves.
  • Thanks to Ben and and the Museum volunteers as Lewis Coaches said we had a great Saturday afternoon in the museum and at a local hostelry.

With the dedication of the team the Club's history will never be lost and the  collection will continue to grow. Thanks .

Charlton v Port Vale programme 1936

Charlton are promoted for the 2nd succesive season and will play in the top flight for the next 20 years

  • These items were from two separate donations.

By coincidence, the other donor brought in some copies of photos that MAY be from that same Port Vale game.

The lack of damage to the Covered End roof suggests it is from 1934 to 1940 but in the third picture the concrete terracing goes all the way up the East terrace and that was done in the summer of 1936, we believe.

But when else was there a pitch invasion?
