I'm looking to try some new ones so I googled this. Shame about the price ☹️Off_it said:
This baby turned up while I was watching the game tonight. Can't really say I noticed the second half.
Beautiful stuff!1 -
If money's no object then the Lagavulin 16yo is a step up again.1

Laga 16yo is about £70 here at the moment. That 12yo is double that. Its cask strength and is superb, but the price is a bit of a piss take.QatarNapsy said:If money's no object then the Lagavulin 16yo is a step up again.1 -
If you've not tried it before and like a pleated whisky then you cant go wrong with a Port Charlotte 10yo.AllHailTheHen said:

Never been a whisky drinker, but this summer did a tour of Clydeside distillery in Glasgow, and sampled four of their products. I found I quite enjoyed it, and we came away with a bottle of their Napier whisky, which is delicious and reasonably priced for a single malt. Matured in sherry casks it is quite sweet and very smooth.4

In Spain it's becoming expensive too. Currently about €100 for a 70cl bottle.Off_it said:

I treated myself to the 18yo as it turned up on Amazon Prime day for 75€. Very very nice whiskey. i also indulged in a Bushmills Steamline (or something similar) which matured in port casks - bit expensive but I save it for Charlton victories so it should last at least until christmas!!QatarNapsy said:If money's no object then the Lagavulin 16yo is a step up again.2 -
Just about to open this bottle, quite looking forward to it.

Give Cadenhead’s a bell, they’ll be able to steer you right in the £50-£90 range.ken_shabby said:I'm a fairly new addition to the whiskey world, but I've got a modest collection of bottles in the 50 to 90 quid range which I am cheerfully working through (especially after recent Charlton matches). Any suggestions gratefully revieved - my current favourite is the Dalmore called The Trio which my wife picked up as an airport exclusive. I have my eye on a Chivas Regal 18 year old gold label for new year - anyone tried it?0 -
Some absolute belters here for very reasonable moneyred10 said:Much prefer a nice bourbon to be honest. Think Lynyrd Skynyrd might have influenced me in my youth somewhat 😀

Used to drink a reasonable amount of Bourbon, Four Roses was always very good and reasonably priced compared to the bigger names.
I have to admit, also to having liked one called Old Granddad (I think), because I was poor, and it was very nicely priced.
Moved much more towards French style Rhum Agricoles in the last ten years or so (I may, on occasion overindulge in mojitos).0 -
Is it too early in the day to pour myself a dram? Might make the second half pass quicker .....0

https://groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-GB/p-glen-marnoch-speyside-single-malt-scotch-whisky-70cl/4088600277837For £17.99 this is amazing value, and a very good tipple.
They do other Glen Marnoch’s but the Speyside is the best one in my view.
I have gone right off the Islay/Skye stuff in the past couple of years, so a good Speyside single malt is my preference.0 -
Unfortunately peated whisky is not for me.Off_it said:Currently £14 off a bottle of Port Charlotte 10yo at Masters of Malt. Fill your boots!

Not yet, but I will drop some hints to my wife - her response will likely be along the lines that I've already got more whisky than I will ever drink. She doesn't understand but I'll convince her eventually!

Lidl had a 30 year old whisky in today, i don't recall seeing it before it's £50, pricey for Lidl, but cheap for something that old. Anyone tried it?

Just seen Laphroig 10y on amazon at 30% off for black Friday. Anyone tried it?1

If you like a peated whisky then it's a surefire winner. If you don't like peated whisky then you would absolutely hate it.ken_shabby said:Just seen Laphroig 10y on amazon at 30% off for black Friday. Anyone tried it?
At the distillery tasting sessions they get out a bottle of TCP for you to sniff and compare with their whisky. So there's your bench mark.
EDIT: Just seen that both Laphroaig 10yo and Talisker 10yo are currently under £30 on Amazon. That's great value.0 -
Amazon currently have the cask strength (59.7%) 2023 Special Release Talisker on at under £50 - which is less than half the price it normally is!
