A solid 1st half. 1st 20 of the 2nd were a bit rocky but the subs of Small and Tyreece made a big difference and we won easily in the end. It was nice to have a bit of width at the end. It does make all the difference.
  • The Nigels at The Valley in round 3 please.
    No!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, why take the risk when we’re so shit?

Plus when we beat Palace, they'll no doubt decide to sack their Manager who is currently doing an excellent job - Meaning they'll end up signing Moyes, who'll take them into the Conference League!!

Bizarre squad selection again. Why's Hylton involved over Dixon and 2 left backs on the bench....
Dxon scored 4 goals against a weak non league side. League 2 defenders would be more likely to kick him to pieces.
I know an intelligent Charlton fan who went to the game and he said that Dixon is not ready for the first team.
Next you'll be trying to convince us that Santa Claus is for real

Always going to be a game where a loss is bad, yet a win is not hugely celebrated given they are a division below us and had rested a couple...BUT... We won convincingly, Ahadme got 2, and TC got one.  That should do wonders for both their confidence levels and of the squad more generally.  Kanu and Potts on the bench is good to see and Jones and some others are closer to return from injury.   So a very good day all around.

No one expected a comfortable 4 nil win today. I was convinced we'd get turned over, out form is dire, and Walsall are no push over.

We've had a few decent ties in the FA Cups over the years. The Man U games, Spurs, Fulham, plus plenty of non league teams. We're never going to the win the cup, so it's either best to hope for a struggling L2 or non league team at home or a big away day. Personally, I'd love to get Everton away, a team themselves who have struggled to find form in the league.

We’ve got players who are coming back. We had (Dan) Kanu and (Dan) Potts back today. We’re in a slightly better position. Hopefully we get Lloyd (Jones) back after the weekend which is another big one for us.

“It’s starting to turn around again. As I’ve said to the fans, who were magnificent again today, we’ve just got to stay in. Stay involved, stay close (to the top six) because when we hit the ground running, get everyone back and are the team I want us to be then that is exciting.”

  • Interesting that the players have stayed away all week. That's a big financial commitment.

Can I say that Alfie May wouldn't have scored the two goals that Gassan Ahadme scored today 🤫
  • Mrs took 3 of ours and my nephew from home and picked up boffin from Brum uni to the match, they’ve had pizza express in Brum and are due home at 11pm
petrol head has done the 3 away this week , Mrs has done the last two with him , little shit, peter Kay and boffin done today , none for me …
I’ve created some Charlton freaks, my madness for it is a small candle still just about flickering but I’ve been worn down by this complete load of shit for years .
Nope I’m not tugging tonight , give me the worst team in the competition at home please .
fair play to the gas man and Connor finding out what can happen when you pass the ball forward in to the danger area .

  • 3 away games this season, 3 wins and 3 clean sheets. Thought Taylor and Coventry were the difference in quality today and berry with some nice touches. Worrying moments were in the first half free header from set piece and the opening 20 in the second. I’ve never felt more confidant in a player scoring a 1vs1 than today and even someone like may I still think he wouldn’t score. I think I’m still scared from that Varney miss… hopefully a good draw!

I wonder why Hylton came on instead of Kanu? Great news that Jones is due back soon to fix our leaky defence.

£75,000 prize money for today’s victory, to add to the £45,000 earned for the 1st Round win at Southend. A win in the 3rd Round is worth £115,000, although, of course, the real bounty is a plum draw against one of the big Premier League teams. Alternatively, a winnable home tie against weaker opposition and a prestige 4th Round tie.

Fingers crossed that we don’t end up with the worst of both worlds - a tough away game to someone like Blackburn in front of a sub-10,000 crowd.

Great win on the road. Everyone in our carriage from New Street to Bescott thought we were going to lose, so to win in the manner we did was a welcomed surprise. Was stood near Ahadme's missus who will have enjoyed today's game and the reaction Gas got at FT.

I thought Walsall were really poor. A real lack of quality in the 11 they had out today, but we took full advantage of that and impressed.

Big prem team at home in the 3rd round, or palace away 🤞🏼

Why risk Kanu when he’s coming back from injury and we are 3 or 4 nil up ?

Just rewatched our goals, for someone who does nothing Anderson wasn’t half involved for 2/4 of them. Smart pass to REG to stretch play for the first and challenges the keeper forcing the weak punch and then blocks off a defender for the third. I know there are things he can improve on but that often means people look over things he does well
I don't get to see many of the games because I'm reliant on the Sky coverage, but it was noticeable on Tuesday at Burton that while Anderson did give the ball away quite a lot, he was also much more proactive in pressing the opposition into making mistakes and giving the ball away, and driving upfield. Berry wasn't completely anonymous as he apparently was today, with a couple of useful crosses and a wasteful shot, but I pretty much forgot he was playing for large chunks of the game. Yes, ideally we'd like Anderson to be better at retaining possession than he is, but at the moment no-one else is giving us those positive qualities that he brings in that position. Also, I would like to point out that the incident with the Burton player getting sent off on Tuesday started because Taylor needlessly lost the ball to the right of their box, but everyone seemed to overlook that bit.

I've watched the highlights a few times, now. And noticed AMB trying to give himself another concussion, by hurling himself into the post!

I've been a critic of Anderson and his continual appearances when he has looked out of his depth, so happy to eat a bit of humble pie today. If he starts creating problems for the opposition with a high press and a couple of killer passes, all to the good. Fingers crossed he kicks on.
