  • I'd just got the 5-0 away ole ole chant out my head before I watched @Braziliance vlog and now it's stuck in there again! Glad you caught a couple of goals, would've been impressive to miss all 5!

Third or fourth row where we D/L: 6 games each, or D - 9 and L: 4 games looks the most realistic if we were to do it.

    We draw too many matches.

Late upload, been on the mulled wine, hope it's a decent watch,

    Merry Christmas 😃
It's nice to see something so festive. Have a peaceful and joyful Christmas!
Tbh I wanted to do a lot more. I had plans to wear a santa hat and give Charlton fans some gifts etc and make it festive. My cousin dropping out and made me go against it, mainly because it's awkward speaking with people in selfie mode unless I know them.

I also didn't want copyright strikes on the video for using Christmas songs.

Cracking chant. Kept muttering it walking around Sainsbury's. People probably thought I needed help
  • 50 points from next 26 matches would get us to 77 points which is enough to almost guarantee top 6.

We would probably need to win another 13/14 matches to get that points total.

Only real chance is if it’s a very low total this season around the 70 points mark and would still require us to win another 10+ matches.
  • Much has been written about us being only four points away from the play-offs.  We are actually only four points away from the sixth place, but nine points from fifth.  Realistically, unless we have a massive change of form, sixth place is the best we can hope for.
There are only eight points separating 6th to 18th positions.  So, there are another twelve teams who also think that, with a good run of form, they could also target sixth place.  We are in the middle of that pack.
We need to improve from 1 1/3 points per game to at least 1 2/3.  Not impossible but will require us to move up a gear in the second half of the season.
Need to move up two gears atleast.

The division seems much closer than normal with a smaller gap between 6th and 20th than we’d normally expect. If points are being shared a bit more evenly between all teams, I think we might need fewer points than the average 75 to sneak into 6th place. Maybe 72 and one less win than normal, which might help us.

Not an impossible turnaround but performances and results need to improve a lot and, at some point, we will probably need to go on a run of 4 or five straight wins to close the gap to those above us. There’s just been no hint of that sort of thing yet this season.

One, admittedly good, win against a piss poor side, who looked in even more disarray than us, is not enough evidence for me to start getting excited about our wider prospects, so put me in the pessimistic camp on that one.

If, however, we can build on yesterday and show, throughout the second half of the season, that we can play that brand of football and pickup results and performances regularly, including against some top 6 sides, and improve to finish, say, 8th(ish), plus add a couple of decent January signings, then that wouldn’t be disaster, from where we, currently, are. That scenario would give us some hope to cling onto that we’re, at last, building something and making some sustainable progress towards what could, hopefully, be a proper tilt at promotion next season. That feels a much more reasonable and realistic target for the rest of the season.

  • I'd say we need a minimum of 9 points from the next 4 games to have any chance of mounting any serious charge for a playoff spot. Knowing us we will beat Wycombe, Draw with Cambridge & Lose to Crawley & Reading.
  • On our prospects for the rest of this season, I don't think all hope is forlorn, unlike those who, I presume, remain adamant our season ended in November, less than half way through it.
  • 78 points to play for,we have had a bad run,now we might have a good run.Teams around us will all have bad runs,(including those at the top, though probably not Birmingham)Agree with comments on here,a ray of hope latish in the Mansfield game, plenty of clean sheets ,and saturdays performance ,with so many players at last showing what they can do,now gives us hope whereby 2-3 weeks ago there was none.
  • There is a reason why we are surprised to be as close to the play offs as we are. That is a lot of teams in League One are inconsistent like us. Of course a team can go on a run but it is also quite possible that 6th place will be a lower points tally this season.
  • I’m not overly for or against NJ I just want someone to have a good go and get us promoted,
I don’t get reading various social media why some people are upset that NJ was not dancing with joy with away fans after? The bloke has “ rightly so “ taken shit loads of abuse, so he’s taking a back seat, as the next shit game he will most probably get slaughtered again.
I'd like to think that NJ is slightly embarrassed at how poor we've been. Whatever is he might say in public, he'll know that in this division we're still a big team, and that anything below top 6 is underachievement.

Especially as it's a poor quality L1 this season, Wycombe Wanderers are SEVENTEEN points ahead of us, which shows how poor we've been

Enjoyed it - very engaging. Far too much apologising though.

What could be an issue is Northampton set out to get a result against a side struggling like themselves. Had they beaten us they would have been on the same points. I am sure Cambridge will try to frustrate us more and catch us on the break, without ever pushing too many forwards, especially as we are at home. This will be interesting as that has been the way to beat us for quite a few seasons. We need to change that.

I think Small, Leaburn and Campbell will be key players for us. The question is will they be able to have similar games against Cambridge that they did against Northampton. Whilst I'm fully aware Cambridge are not a great side at this level, a convincing win will give me more hope than I have had for some time. But I am still sort of not expecting it.
  • Crawley Town making City look very ordinary right now as well (0-0 HT).  That might be a tougher game than we'd hope too ... Elliot seems to have helped them get their shit together to a certain degree at least.

Young Teddy had it nailed there didn't he?  Very wise not to say who would score the 5 though, clearly knew it would be us but didn't want to be disowned 😄

I would imagine they will be firing on all cylinders after beating us at home.

They held out well, restricting city to the one goal with just ten minutes remaining.

Although the stats don't look good, I don't think they give the full picture, they played better than the stats suggest, especially in the first half.

If their ability hasn't necessarily grown, their confidence has.

Perhaps if the lads gave 115% from now on?
