Some floodlights working Charlie Pinkpants still shirking
Seemed gloomy and depressing yesterday until the goal. It's not that important but it attract a few more people tomorrow if it was a night out in the bright lights of the valley rather than a gloomy evening in the cold.
It wasnt the best of matches, but I enjoyed that... We played well, and was a difficult showing against a team who clearly showed up for the point, with the aim of getting all three if a chance like that injury time moment fell to them properly.
Had the feeling it would go the way of the 0-0 with Reading though
Lets be honest... Nothing will ever beat a 95th minute winner!!
I think a winner 6s from time in a play-off final caps that.
Nothing in football beats a last minute winner. It forgives everything before it and everyone goes home happy.
But if you want to analyse the play, try reversing the match. Small scores in the 1st minute like Campbell did against Cambridge, and then 96 minutes of frustrating chugging followed. The assessment would be ‘yeah, we got the three points but it’s just not good enough’.
We don’t seem to be obviously falling short in too many places. Yesterday Leaburn had a poor game for his standards and as others have mentioned, Berry just doesn’t contribute anywhere near enough that you hope he could. The quality of delivery from wide areas, either from set pieces or open play from Edwards and Small also lets us down.
But other than that, we’re relatively solid defensively, Doherty has really picked up in the centre of late and Tyreece is growing in confidence and impact. While Small’s end product can be improved, he’s stretching teams wider and more importantly drawing a double up on him, creating more space elsewhere.
Bringing on good quality standard subs for the last 20-30 mins is really helping us finish games strongly, we just need now to find something that works for the first 60 mins as other than the Northampton game, it so rarely does!
Onto Tuesday and what will be another empty midweek Valley. Let’s hope we attack the first 60 on the front foot and get those there engaged.
Come on Charlton, this season is still there to grab.
Most importantly, it sticks two fingers up to those who insist on getting away before the crowds. They won't learn though.

Tuesday night mate, go there tomorrow, your on yer own...🙄
Was about to type "we could play until Tuesday and we won't score here" and then up pops Small to grab us a big 3 points.
The game was an abomination. It takes two to make a decent game and Shrewsbury had no interest in doing anything other than nicking it.
Our general lack of creativity shone through for most of the game. We need someone through the door to replace Berry. Yes he pops up with the odd goal, but too much of the game passes him by.
In these sorts of games, set plays often make the difference. A shame ours were, for the most part, awful. Please do not let Gillesphey near another corner - the same wafted ball to the back post on repeat is really not helpful. Said it on the match thread and will say it again, how many of our set plays ended up with a simple catch for Blackman?
Positives? Obviously the win and the fact we kept at it. Campbell played well as did Coventry. Small will get plaudits for the goal, but Shrewsbury doubling up on him definitely stifled his attacking threat. Decent cameo from Chuks and obviously good to have Ramsey back.
Negatives? Leaburn seems to have two levels at the moment "beast mode" or "completely anonymous" he was poor today. Gillesphey gives me palpations every time he has to defend and again I thought Mitchell looked off his game. Set plays were horrible and we still haven't got a midfielder to unlock a low block.
It's frustrating as I think we are probably a left sided centre back and a creative midfielder away from having a proper go at the play offs.
Can't disagree with any of that. Our set pieces are atrocious, can't believe we actually have a specific coach for them.
I had to leave at half time because of a prior commitment, and texted "that was turgid. Our midfield is so stodgy". If Berry would contribute more it would make a real difference. Still, all's well that ends with a 90+6 goal
Yaya is assistant to Mancini with the Saudi national team so a League 1 game is a bit of an odd one!
He was there with his Manager (Leon Mann: Refresh Sports) upon the invite of Paul Elliott, think we know who he is, so basically consultancy and production stuff probably.
Whoever pulled the emergency cord on the train after the game needs chemically castrating, knobend
no need to waste time with chemicals, a rusty set of garden secateurs will suffice.
I'd go straight for the 3rd rail option...Pelham 123 style.
I didn't enjoy that experience one bit. Was in a very overcrowded bit with nowhere to go. Very claustrophobic. No announcements of any kind either.
The policeman was a right little tosser too, getting pissed off with people just asking what was going on after about 30mins of radio silence
Was on that train as well, no up dates, no surprise with the old bill as well walking up and down the platform, no communication at all.
So was the train on the platform with all the doors closed and not moving ? Surely they could open the doors ?? that is my worst nightmare, I’ve been to two hypnotists about claustrophobia and my head isn’t in the right space to feel hypnotised , I just end up going to sleep and I’m still wibble about packed trains and closed in areas etc it’s probably my fear/hatred of people
I've just watched the highlights of the game and Luke Berry features quite a lot. I was pleasantly surprised by how involved he was. (And it didn't look like the shot from Doc which he got in the way of was goalbound). We know he likes to sniff out chances and he scores a few which will always get him noticed but I think his link play and off the ball disrupting go a little under the radar and he's a useful guy to have around. If we do sign a ball-carrying, creative 90 minute midfielder I think he and Doc can share the other forward midfield duties handsomely.

I left before the end so missed all the excitement. I have come to hate the modern way of playing, possession from the keeper to the defenders and so on and back with nothing to show for it. The problem as I see it, we do not have the ability to do that style effectively, we lose the ball easily. I know the reason for this style but seriously it’s boring the life out of me. Today we played a team that I think will go down, surely we can be a little more direct and aggressive. Absolute turgid game.
To be honest it was a Saturday, amazing what comes comes out of the fingers when alcohol is involved.
The edited version; I left before the end so missed all the excitement.

I for one, actually thought we played well and controlled the match. i only have 3 concerns going towards the end of the season -
1) squad depth isnt there IMO, I think 11 for 11 we are right up there but if we get some injuries we done for.
2) Gillesphy blows too hot and cold, always has a mistake in him. Equally can look great for spells in a match then turns off.
3) lack of creativity if teams defend like Shrewsbury did, our current plan seems to be pass to Small or Campbell if it doesnt work hit long to Leaburn/Aneke
Gareth Ainsworth, what an inspiration if you are a Shrewsbury fan, hopefully they do manage to get "above the line", certainly showed their intent for just that Saturday...

Why restrict it to chemically? It took me two hours to get home to SE26.
Any bus to Royal Standard then 202 is right there! It's what I do
The 202 is usually slower than the train but I'll consider it.
Just a side note as @AddictsAddict know what works best for him: For se26 i used to bus it to North Greenwich then Windrush line down from Canada Water and found that quick and reliable. Busses 54 then 75 was a decent route too but i think that was in the days before the Overground line opened in its present form.

So Yaya Toure was at the game- a week ago he was shaking handing with Pardew. Conclusion he is signing for Charlton 🤪

Great interview by GA after the game.
