    Jack Whitehall stole it
He was excellent…and Gordon Ramsey did his bit too!!
  •  I expected them to really tone Jack down given how uppity some of the drivers and team principals get about jokes but fair play they let him do his thing.
  • VCARB come out with the best livery , a bit Turkey 2020 Red Bull inspired
  • I can only assume this event was aimed at the American audience? Flashy lights, long and dramatic video packages, musical interludes for no apparent reason, drivers who were in many cases clearly reluctant and/or uncomfortable but contractually obliged to be there and say the right things.

Jack Whitehall was about the only good thing about it, and they seemed to bin him off about halfway through. Barely saw him in the second half although I have to confess I didn't watch all the way to the end so maybe he made a big comeback?

    Not for me I'm afraid!
  • First time in a while I've found a Ferrari to look ugly
  • Know it's only been one session but looks like Kimi Antonelli is going to run away with it this year
  • Monaco mandated 2 stop. Bernie just made a good point for someone at the back stopping in lap 1/2 and hoping to catch the rest up and be in front

They should also mandate that all 3 compounds must be used, as that would set up a more interesting race too, do you chuck on the soft for 1 lap, make a stop and hope to catch back up to the pack and get a safety car, do you stay out on hards as long as possible at the start knowing you'll be on a quicker tyre at the end? Opens up many possibilities

  • Not sure any of it’ll make much difference. The fundamental problem with Monaco is you can’t overtake, even it the driver in front is lapping 10 seconds slower than they’re capable of. Two stops will create some tyre wear offsets, potentially, but it probably still won’t be enough to allow drivers to overtake.

Until there are some longer straights, bigger breaking zones, and the track is wider, all of which would probably need Monte Carlo to be partially demolished, it’ll be the same.

I look forward to this post being quoted in a few months when we’ve had the most exciting Monaco Grand Prix in history.
Monaco would be more exciting if the drivers had to stop every 25 laps and complete 25 laps of a Monaco GP modelled scalextric track before getting back in their F1 car and carrying on. Otherwise not much hope for it as a spectacle unless they build a out into the harbour a long straight, 180 bend and straight back to land.
  • Wish they'd just leave Monaco to Formula E tbh. I don't see making it a 2 stop making a huge amount of difference.
  • They could make 50 stops and you still wouldn't get an overtake on track. It's not a race, it's just a procession. FFS, the other year Alonso was deliberately slowing down just to piss Hamilton off, knowing full well that there was nothing anyone could do about it.

Just over a week to until we have cars on track in anger in Q1 of the first F1 Grand Prix of the season. I thought it might be fun to have a little predictions competition we can look back on at the end of the season. Who/what are your picks for the following:

Send me your answers in a direct message by 11:59 GMT on Thursday 13th March (don't post them here for others to see) and I will compile them and we can unveil them at the end of the season (Football Ramble style for any fans of that podcast)

    1. 2025 Drivers' Championship Winner:
    2. 2025 Constructors' Championship Winner:
    3. Most Race Wins (Driver):
    4. Most Pole Positions (Driver):
    5. Who will score more points - Leclerc or Hamilton:
    6. Who will be Max Verstappen's teammate by the end of the season (i.e. will Liam Lawson be replaced and by whom?):
    7. Will Hamilton win a race with Ferrari and, if so, at which track?
    8. What be Kimi Antonelli's highest placed finish in a single race (excluding sprints), in his rookie season?:
    9. Best of the Rest (Driver) - Highest place finish in drivers' Championship excluding Mclaren, Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes:
    10. Best of the Rest (Team) - Highest place finish in constructors Championship excluding Mclaren, Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes:
    11. Driver with the highest cost of car damage in 2025:
    12. Random prediction of your choice - make it as serious or silly as you like:
  • Can't see the FIA approving this DRS setup...

  • Will be interesting to see what Caddys driver lineup is . I'm expecting Bottas as team leader but the second seat could be anyone, I'm not that convinced by Colton Herta as a prospect and I wonder if Zhou and Tsunoda will be in play?
  • Back of the grid challenging lineup there
  • Bottas is past it.

If they're serious about this they need a better driver than him to lead the team

I would have thought it nailed on that one of the drivers will be American.  Maybe Trump - he seems to think he can do anything!

  • You'd think being American they'd want a big name to lead the team.

Just bumping this for anyone else who is interested in joining in. I've had a few entries, but the more the better.

Damon Hill switches to BBC radio Comms after leaving Sky.
  • Could be very wet for the race Sunday looking at the forecast
  • That took long

I still can't believe they decided Lawson was the best man for the seat.

They should have promoted Tsunoda and put Hadjar and Lawson together and gone from there

Still expecting to see him in the Racing Bull this season. I know his Qualy wasn't great.

Read something about him having a technical issue, so wouldn't be surprised if he had a mecachrome moment!!
  • Great Qualifying session for the season opener - Australia has certainly been harsh on the Rookies.
  • That's a fair chunk of time Mclaren are ahead of the rest. They need to maximise results before the rest close that gap up later in the season

If it rains tomorrow I'd fancy Max to win

Woke up and saw Hamilton 8th thought noooo but then saw Leclerc weren't much further ahead. Maybe they setup for rain but 7th/8th is a bit further back than they expected
