Charlton beat Wycombe, Wrexham and Burton & Wycombe lose away at Orient OR at home to Stockport (max 3 points) & Wrexham lose or draw away at Blackpool OR Lincoln (max 4 points)
What about Stockport ? They are still in with a shout of 2nd.
I love the optimism of some of you. That’s not a snide comment - I do actually love it. I’d love to be the sort of person who could think that we might: 1. Win away at the teams in 2nd and 3rd and 2. Then not fuck it up by drawing against Burton at home. Unfortunately I’m not made that way.
Stockport’s ceiling is 86pts compared to ours being 88. It’s in our hands whether we finish above them or not now. That’s why I didn’t include them in the equation.
STOCKPORT Huddersfield (9th) - Home Lincoln (11th) - Home Wycombe (2nd) - Away
No easy games in there for anyone let's be perfectly honest, you wouldn't want our or Wycombe's run in, and I believe if Wycombe get automatics they would have properly earned it based on those 3 games. All we can do is get all 9 points and pray the others can't win the rest of their games too
Automatics would be dreamland but like many after the Crawley debacle I would never have thought about playoffs so well done Nathan for giving us a shot.
Yes, it was ugly today but at this stage you never get free flowing footy.
Happy to play whoever in the play offs, we have a good a chance as anybody.
Only concern is keeping players fit, Chucks looked a bit rough, so lose him and we only have Gassan and Dixon which is a worry but I thought Jones was magnificent today.

The key bit was us winning all 3 games. If we do that Stockport can't finish 2nd

I don’t think it’ll happen but the chances are non-zero. :-)
I refuse to rule out 2nd. Having watched Wrexham's last 2 games. The referee basically handed them the win vs Burton and they were awful vs 10 men for about 50 mins. They didn't even have a shot on target against Wigan.
I maintain that tomorrow doesn’t mean anything, provided we win. Monday is huge with Wrexham going to Blackpool!
I will now say that if we win all three games I genuinely believe we go up in 2nd.
Wycombe go to orient on Saturday and finish with Stockport!

Stockport have a better GD than us, which in Golfie’s world means they have more points than us as well.
Biggest turnaround in a season in my time as a fan. Incredible job by all concerned since Northampton away in December.
I’m clinging onto the hope we can steal second. Wrexham’s equaliser today was a blow and goal difference means we’ll need Wycombe to lose two (obviously one of those will need to be vs us). Long odds on that but it’s what we have go for. At the very least we have to try and get third and let 4th and take care of each other because the top 5 are clearly a cut above the rest of the league.
Or lose to us and draw the other two? Unlikely but possible.
What a gift from Bristol Rovers, as this thread fully expected, not!
Win all games - still very unlikely - and I think we finish second. Before today I expected us to win at Wycombe, I'm now lukewarm on that.
The Wycombe win at Bolton today makes the relevant permutations simple for the next few days - beat Wycombe on Monday and we're in the hunt, don't beat them we're not.
If we win we should be closer to one of the 3 above us as law of averages says one of them will drop points. The dream is that 2 of them drop points (ideally Wrexham and Wycombe!)
The dream (well, minus the Wycombe bit!) came true. I don't think we will win our next 3 games, but if somehow we did, I think we would finish second.
I tried to find this thread again but couldn't because the title had been completely changed. You were all spared from my silly and irrelevant musings for about an hour...

It's starting to shape up a lot like the actual table. Not that there is ever an easy game in league one, but the battle for the 2 remaining promotion spots is going to be gruelling.

Pressure still very much on them though! We have nothing to lose.
Incredible turnaround from us to go from a team where after the Crawley defeat at home, many couldn't see a way back for the team or Jones as manager, to sealing a play off place with 3 games to go.
Our form over the last 25 games (56 points) averaged over the whole season would be enough for 103 points.
I know its shouting a bit into the wind now but it would be nice to see a few of the people who were throwing out lols at the start of this thread like confetti to come back now and eat a bit of humble pie.
They won't though. It'll be all "nobody could have expected this turn around and we all wanted Charlton to do well so it's all ok"
We're still winning which is a sign of a good side but performances haven't been particularly convincing home or away since the loss to Peterborough (barring against Hudds who are going through a crisis).
We've looked shaky defensively and not as fluid as we were before. We've got our first 11 mostly fit but lack the rotation options or depth if we lose key players as a lot of the first reserves are missing. Worries that Friday - Monday games may be a bit too much for us. Especially after having to battle harder today than we would have liked.
Got to go for it and keep the wins coming. If we don’t manage the win on Monday then we could potentially look at resting some tired legs ahead of playoffs, but we definitely have a shot at second. One game at a time. Unbelievable turnaround this season.
Whatever happens in the next few weeks, it’s still been a good season, promotion would be the icing on the cake, as I am sick of being in this division, keep it going NJ!
I'm seeing the next game as a playoff semi final for second spot. Win that and we meet Wrexham in the final. I know its not quite that straightforward but that's my take.

2. Then not fuck it up by drawing against Burton at home.
Unfortunately I’m not made that way.

If Godden was injured, would we really start Mbick ahead of Ahadme?

If the following Saturday’s results also go to plan (Charlton beat Wrexham, Wycombe lose at Orient):
2. Charlton 85PTS

When after the Crawley home game the football experts were wanting a new manager.
