But in reality that isn't how it works, over a whole season you will end up pretty much where you deserve. Our late charge has probably come one, maybe two games too late but it's been a hell of a try5

Despite sounding like a bit of a twat post-match; Dodds wasn't wrong when he said that they conceded four soft goals against us (I think the only one I'd be really "happy" with conceding was Berry's), and they've got to put it down as a blip because they've been so defensively strong since he's joined the club.
Its going forward where they suddenly don't look a threat and wouldnt worry me as much.
Wycombe or Stockport I fear are two Play-Off opponents that could easily get decided on a penalty shootout.3 -

Plenty of twists & turns in the last couple of games for everyone. Hopefully the footballing gods repay us for the late Barnsley goal against Brentford that sent us down.15

I hope and believe we will go up but I’m also worried that the current owners don’t have a pot to piss in and we’ll see an immediate return to League 1 thanks to a total lack of investment in the squad.2

We've not seen any depth to the owners pockets at all and two loans in the January window is hardly a statement of any intent.
We all remember the wonderful feeling when Bauer scored the winning goal but getting relegated a season later was a real blow.
I'd love to see our Owners say that they're proud of the Manager, Team and Fans and that if we get promoted funds will be there. Clearly this is utterly blue sky thinking on my part but this Board has been very quiet and I'm not impressed and feeling reassured.5 -

There is never a bad time to be promoted.
If we don't go up, we are going to get absolutely raided. Very difficult to build a team in league1.
You think the likes of Ramsay, Small, Campbell, Coventry, Jones etc fancy another season of this when they've all proven they can probably make the step up?
Let's just win these 2 and see where we are at15 -

We lost our two best players from last season and have jumped up the table from 16th to 2nd-5th.
In NJ we trust.10 -

Doesn't matter if a player is on a 10 year deal. If a bigger club comes in for our players, we will struggle to keep them.
Promotion is very important if we want to avoid a mini rebuild.6 -

TC would be worth close to 10 million if he has this season in the championship. Unlikely to command that fee in league 14 -

We're also a buying club, hence the likes of Ramsay, Jones, Mannion joining us from smaller clubs as they see us as a step upwards (and bigger payers).6 -
Had a quick look again at the play off timings & thinking that if we get 3rd then travelling to 6th place team shouldn't be too bad, seeing as its either going to be Orient or Reading. A 12.30 kick off at either is a lot better than going to Stockport or Bolton /Blackpool (if they had made the play offs).
Any other permutations might be better known after Saturday, but even then I think 2nd to 5th wont be sorted out until the final day.
But if we play Wycombe I'm going for tickets in the home end 😉.2 -

It's always disappointing to lose your best players but it's not something that bothers me too much, because it's hypocritical. As an example, will i be sorry if Ramsay goes? Yes obviously. Was i sorry for Harrogate when they lost him to us? Absolutely not.8 -

Reading give me anxiety. I don’t want to deal with being sucked into their against the odds story / fairytale. And they actually have a bizarrely strong home record too.7
-
Reading’s first 11 is as good as any in League One - they just have zero squad depth, as shown by the fact that Billy Bodin is their main attacker on the bench. As long as their starting 11 stay fit then they’ve got a chance.0

Reading would be the under the radar side if they are in the Play offs with their off field woes and it them or Orient for the 6th place with the rubbish end of the season of Bolton and Huddersfield.0 -

I've got to say of all the players mentioned, we didn't buy any of them? No fees apart from Ramsay, which would have been a very small fee.
The point was, there is never a bad time to get promoted, as all it does is increase your clubs value, your revenue, your players value, your clubs interest and the list goes on.
It's extremely difficult to build a long term promotion side in league 1 as the championship vultures start circling, as we are already seeing with our better players.
Our history shows that we are very much a selling club, and cannot be compared to the likes of Liverpool, Man United etc as they're such extreme examples and on a different level revenue wise.
Back to the original point, there is never a bad time to get promoted, we need promotion.0 -
