  • Let’s hope the players are up for the game, not like some of the “we’re doomed” on here…
They are gonna be fine today, and finish off Wycombe on Thursday, so chill everyone 🍺
  • So other than the obvious doubts over Berry, Small and Jones who else is unavailable from the squad? Chuks suspended, Leaburn out for the season  Ahadme potentially injured?

Is that it? Everyone else fit?
  • Today is the wife's 30th birthday (im annoyed the game was moved from yesterday) so trying to give her as much attention as possible before the game will probably distract me from the build up. Have booked a spa day for tomorrow to make up for me going absent this evening!!
  • After a lot of mulling it over I just can’t see Wycombe being as bad as their form suggests. A sell out away end, their support is shit. All the form points to us winning. But they have a point to prove. Their main striker hasn’t scored for months.

2-1 to them and a nervy 2nd leg to come

‘Kin ‘Ell .. Have the club not learnt anything from Operation Ewood or Operation Riverside. FFS … Just keep it low profile and concentrate on the job in hand. We’ve sold out the away end, we’ve sold out the Valley. We don’t need this Shite 🙄
Came on here to say exactly this ⬆️
I’m off to yoga, in the outdoors, whilst a harp is being played. It’s part of the annual fiddle fair. I hope it calms me down………. I’m not confident of that either 🙄🫣😩
I am really impressed if you can still play the Harp whilst doing Yoga, and having a fiddle! (you do know it can affect your eyesight? ;))
  • Me and my nutty laws of averages is having a tough time coping with the fact no home team has won yet.

Along with Wycombe being due a result, I’m now sitting here thinking the home team is also due a result.

Think I need to cut all that out and just focus on our game as a standalone
The "law of averages" arises from the law of LARGE numbers , so it cannot be applied to the the outcomes of a small number of events.

  • Not nervous here, I keep thinking back to the Crawley defeat in December thinking another season of struggle so the turnaround since is remarkable.

If we keep it to a goal I'd fancy us to overturn a deficit at home

Fairly easily explained by the fact the weaker teams over 46 games play at home first

Get her a Charlton kit ,scarf a treat at McDonald's and then have a pre match build up together with cans of beer and peanuts the perfect birthday.

how confident or un confident we feel, how much we care about a twitter video or not and how much negativity the wycombe fans are feeling is all irrelevant - the truth is that there will be two teams playing each other today and both will be highly motivated by the fact there will be a significant pay rise - double your money - on the table for a lot of them should they get promoted - this will be a very tough match today, i'm under no illusions about that - i'm just hoping our injured are back and we can start at full strength - COYR!!
  • Sun’s shining, just off to golf, will help me take my mind off this afternoon.

Hate the fact not one home team has won their play off game yet…
Said the exact same to my old man yesterday !
  • I've just watched the 22/23 Sheff Wed v Posh semi.
3rd v 6th. They finished 19points above them so the form book suggested Sheff would walk it.
They came through in end. ....but bloody hell! The noise at Hillsborough for the second leg was something I think you only really hear in a play off semi.

Not sure my blood pressure could take it all!
  • 1-1 us with a late equaliser take it to a winner takes all decider at home

That is absolutely fucking awful. Why have we got that gimp to do it 😂
  • Excited but also nervous for the game. I've no doubt their manager will be using the 4-0 defeat as motivation for Wycombe to sort themselves out. If we score early they might crumble given their recent run of form, but equally if they score early they'll grow in belief and it could become a very tough 90 minutes for us.

I'm expecting a tight cagey game as both sides will still want to be in the tie on Thursday night. I'd take a 1-1 as i fully expect to beat them in front of a sold out Valley.

Whether we like it or not, social media is now the main shop window for the club — it’s how we project our identity, attract new fans, and keep the wider football world tuned in. So yes, what goes out does matter. I don’t have an X (Twitter) account myself, but that doesn’t mean I want to see utter tripe being served up on the club’s official channels. As Brazilance quite rightly said, we want to be seen as “Gold Star” off the pitch — sadly, the recent ticket chaos and that bizarre promo video felt more “Poundland and Popcorn.”

Having worked in sport-related marketing and promotions, I’m genuinely baffled how this stuff even sees daylight. Who wrote that script? Who thought, “Yes, that’s the tone we’re going for”? And who nodded along in the final edit like it was a Cannes-worthy masterpiece?

If Charlton are serious about stepping up — both on and off the pitch — the senior management team (SMT) need to ask a few hard questions. Working for our national broadcaster on major events, I can tell you: this wouldn’t have made it past the intern’s inbox. We're not asking for Spielberg, just something that doesn’t make the club look like it’s being run by a committee of Muppets (and not the good ones from the balcony!).

Let’s aim higher — because our fans deserve better, and the club’s legacy certainly does. At the very least, let's avoid becoming the next viral sensation for all the wrong reasons.

It's football, stop taking yourself so seriously ffs and enjoy the game today.

    Tooting red Army
….its clearly written slightly tongue in cheek…but it is important that Charlton get there act together off field ….& thanks I will hopefully enjoy the game !

If everyone is fit and we play our strongest team we will win the game. COYR.

I'm wearing the same shirt. I think it is my favourite Charlton shirt in my collection to wear. As for the game, I think, and you don't have to be a genius to think so, that it will be a lot tighter than the previous game. As long as we can avoid a deficit going back to the Valley I think we will be fine.

That’ll be some motivational speech…’right then lads, a few weeks ago they totally outplayed you all over the park and scored goals for fun and nearly hat a hat full more, their fans totally out sung our fans who outnumbered them 3 to 1 and didn’t shut up all afternoon and since that game we’ve lost the following two matches as well. I want you to forget all that because this time it’s going to be different, we’ve lost a couple of key players and our fans will only outnumber their fans 2 to 1’.

My wife was 30 in 1994 the day we played Man It'd in FA Cup Quarter Final. I went. We are still together but she has never let me forget it
  • Anyone watching in Canterbury ? Looking for a Charlton pub ? Thanks

Ed Warrick is still traumatised by that second leg  :D
  • I'm not thinking of Wembley or the second leg at home.  The lads need to perform to their best as Wycombe will be up for it.  Quietly confident though.  COYR ;)
