This wasn’t a spectacle. At least not a pleasant one. It was a tough, gritty match that ended nil nil. There’s not really a whole lot more to say.

Where Wycombe were up for a fight (at times, literally!), Charlton didn’t wither, matching their toughness across the pitch throughout the match. Much of the match was a hoof-fest, but Charlton were able to defend long balls into the box and then spring counter-attacks with their own direct approach that, although not ideal, almost paid dividends. Charlton weren’t able to get comfortable in possession and move the ball around the pitch, at least not until the final stages, where Wycombe wilted considerably and Charlton pressed for a breakthrough. Where he was generous to the Addicks in the league affair, Norris, the Wycombe keeper, kept them in it today, saving efforts from Docherty, Anderson, and Godden at least.

Hopefully, the return leg allows the Addicks more comfort in possession and a more free-flowing affair. Wycombe looked spent by the end and it was clear that a match played almost entirely to their strengths wasn’t enough to overcome a resilient Charlton.

We got marginally better towards the end and could have won. Had to stay in the tie if we couldn't win it so a decent result in the end. I would say we should get a better ref on Thursday but they're all equally atrocious.

Horrendous game but the performance is irrelevant and we still could have won it at the end. They were very lucky to not end with 9 on the pitch but thankfully it didn’t cost us a defeat.

The result is a very good one and it’s going to be an insane night at The Valley on Thursday.

Wycombe being in the play-offs is a massive indictment to the 'quality' of League One.

Poor game, we come away with the result we wanted. But could/should have won that game.

I think that went almost exactly to plan from Nathan Jones’ point of view.

It was clear that priority no. 1 was not letting Wycombe have any joy in front of goal. And if we nicked one late it would’ve been a lovely bonus.

Take the tie back to a sold out Valley, a place where we’ve won 10 of the last 11 and win our place at Wembley there, in front of our fans.

They really out muscled and out pressed us for the first 70 minutes.

The midfield, Doc especially, had zero composure on the ball. We need the threat from both flanks to dictate the game.

Good result but a shame not to conjure out a goal or two from nothing. Godden’s couple of efforts were well saved, as was Anderson’s goalmouth flick. On another day, a breakthrough would probably have seen Wycombe fold.

The travelling support was superb, especially watching that!

Pretty much it. Went after them a bit late on, could have done with that a bit earlier and we’re probably taking a 1-0 into Thursday. Hopefully Small starts Thursday and we get at them early doors. Gotta find a way to free up Campbell more behind Godden.

Dreadful game that, a proper battle with very little quality. We know we can play much better, but their form under Dodds doesn't really suggest they can.

Ultimately though a few weeks ago if you offered us Wycombe at home with a win to get to Wembley, we'd all have taken it. And if we can't beat that shit on Thursday night then we deserve nothing.

Yep, they didn’t like having to defend him with tired legs. If he’s fit, he should start and I think that’ll be too much for them.

Clearly not a good game, but Wycombe were never going to roll over like they did a few weeks ago.

Jones would have taken not getting beaten today.

We will have 25,000(ish) behind us Thursday, totally different ball game for Wycombe.

Did they? There last shot on target was the 29th minute of the game, and in the second half there was only one team in it.

Granted we were better after 70 minutes, but I think you’re giving Wycombe too much credit.

I suspect Wycombe will be as physical if not more so on Thursday.

It does seem to set back TC a bit as an example.

Hopefully an early booking for them from a decent ref would help us.

Dull, but the kind of dull that suits us better than them. They took their best shot in that first half and other than a slightly odd Mannion shovel save it wasn't a lot. We just need to go into Thursday's game fresh, hopefully with Small fit to play a full game and be ourselves. Wycombe will be disappointed not to have taken advantage of their moment and they will be wary of how dangerous we looked late on

We dug in against a very nasty side, andvtgat game was only going one way at the end. But we start again from scratch on Thursday. Hopefully with a different referee.
