Condolences to his wife, family & friends.
I never met him though I suspect in my 45 years of following our club our paths literally crossed dozens of times.
i posted on here after the Wycombe semi final home win that that was for him, he replied that it made him cry, it’s now done that to me.10 -

RIP me old mucker. We sat together or close by for many seasons, we had a fabulous trip to Wembley in 2019. We've laughed, we've moaned, we've watched some crap football, but appreciated the good moments when they happened. He was without question one of the strongest, bravest blokes I've known and fought his battle to the very end. Only 2 weeks ago, we spoke about him coming to the first home game next season, his positive attitude hadn't wavered. I've had my own cancer battle ( which thankfully I'm winning), Malc's positivity throughout (together with TCE) has been a great support to me. We've whatsapp'd each other pretty much every day over the last 2 years. I'm proud to have met and considered you a friend, I'll cherish my memories. Your pain is now over, RIP mate.61

RIP Malcolm, and my sincerest condolences to those who knew and loved him. He couldn't have hoped for a better friend Ray, I've been in tears reading this thread and in awe of how candid he has been throughout his fight. A real inspiration.2

Wally and I have shared plenty of private conversations on CL over time, particularly in the last couple of years discussing health issues.
I am acutely aware that only 2 years ago I was in a worse position, but have hopefully come out the other side.
When our sadness starts to lift as it must, remember to enjoy yourselves as it’s later than you think.
My thoughts are with Wally’s family and friends.

I only knew you as Red Midland on here, the Legend of the Match Day thread, and for much positive discussion on the forum for many years.
You fought a brave fight and may you rest now.

I’m just back from a belated birthday party for our Millie, Wally would have insisted I went like he insisted I went to Wembley to “Represent him” but I fell for it and went.
What to say about Wally that’s not been said, he was a proper old school gentleman who despite his illness and the battle he was fighting spent many any hour checking in on me.
When after the call that told us his cancer was no longer treatable phoned me straight back checking on me as my silence concerned him.Telling him “I had no words” that were a fitting response to what I was hearing, was the best I could come up with.
Wally wouldn’t hear off it, that’s not how we are, we rip each other apart then come back for more that’s how it started and that’s how it ends.
Sadly that’s not how it ended, as @DaveStorry just said as we spoke on the phone the final two weeks went so quickly and changed everything.
Now we are focused on being there for Angie, supporting her in want ever way we can and being there if she wants us, it’s what Wally would’ve wanted although he’d have loved being an announcement on Charltonlife.We made each other laugh, then as a three ball we laughed more often and harder, Wally’s age being constantly mentioned by myself which despite there only being only a couple of years between us he loved it, being introduced to Tracey Leaburn as my Dad he constantly reminded me he would get me back for.When asked I used to say I never had a brother, but I did I was fortunate enough to have two from different mothers, their bloodlines don’t matter.Just brothers……..
Wally, I’ll miss you pal until next time, rest easy.Much love
