Recently, the Welling 'friendly' has resulted in injuries to some of our top players. Tell Welling to go kick some other team round the park this close season
If the pitch is the real reason for no game I wonder if we've asked for the first game to be away?
That would be a bit rich wouldn’t it given we delayed starting the works until after the corporate hires.
But then again if you don’t ask you don’t get I suppose.
I do seem remember an article in recent years citing how complex fixture planing is though with multiple requests like that coupled with other constraints on local teams playing at different times for policing purposes and any number of other constraints. So no idea if that would be entertained.
Personally start away finish at home feels best regardless of rationale.
Meanwhile Oxford are playing a tournament in Indonesia
I think they’ll get a surprise. The public in Java are absolutely football mad. The away support I saw when I lived there back in 2002 was often travelling for 10-12 hours standing up in the back of a truck. The home matches (Arema in Malang) were packed out with people climbing up trees and getting on the roof to get a view of the match. The fans in Bandung will love to be hosting a team from The Championship, and I wouldn’t be surprised if TVs across the country get crowds.
Btw, when I was there my school got a big screen in the street for Charlton v Middlesbrough. That was a surreal experience for me.
Edit: Just found that Oxford are away to Arema on 10th July. They now have a new stadium rather than the old one that I went to.

Unusual to play at a neutral location, but good to get some better quality opposition.
Other than EFL Trophy games, we've not played at Colchester since the FA Cup defeat
If I can remember rightly Ipswich U21's will be playing at Colchesters ground now. There was a social media post by Colchester the other day stating despite their rivalry they will be doing it.

The Ipswich women's team will be playing there too.
Slovenian Second League club NK Triglav Kranj next month during the pre-season training camp in Slovenia.
The Town will face the side who just missed out on promotion to their domestic top-flight, losing in a two-legged relegation/promotion play-off to Domžale after finishing runners-up in the SNL.
The match will take place on Saturday 12th July with an 11am kick-off (BST), before Matt Bloomfield and his squad fly back to England later that evening to continue pre-season preparations at The Brache.
A small number of tickets are available for Town supporters to attend, with the Luton Town Supporters’ Trust co-ordinating applications from Season Card holders, LTFC members and LTST members.
There will also be a free live stream available for fans to watch from home, or wherever they are in the world, details of which will follow closer to the date.
This fixture adds another competitive test to the Hatters’ pre-season schedule, which starts at Boreham Wood on Saturday week and culminates with a game at Kenilworth Road against Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday 26th July.
Does anyone know when pre-season tickets are gonna go on-sale??? Ticket office seem to have no idea but I have two games (Cambridge & Tractor Boys) down the road from me and seems wierd to have nothing available yet.
Is it normal for pre-season games to on go on sale quite late?

Quite fancied the Wealdstone game but in rush hour the M25/M4 junction will be like a car park. And they want to build another Heathrow runway without any planned infrastructure upgrades.

Looks like they are back at Sparrows Lane today
I wonder if they'll go on a priority sale...................
