We can't all be on holidays surely. Wembley there was a demand, we are in the big time now, would be nice to show it and back the team who have been so good for us for so long.
If you are in a position where you can go, but you aren't, but you were one of the people demanding for a Wembley ticket, then I'll be blunt, you are in no position to talk. (If that doesn't apply to you or anyone reading this, then you shouldn't care)
My post obviously doesn't apply to people who can't go for valid reasons. Based on the demand for Wembley, first season back in the Champ, nice weather, Saturday 3pm kick off, and us spending a significant amount of money, the team should be backed.
As I always say, if this was Liverpool away or Man United, people would be asking for spares. It's just the truth.
However if we do get back in the Premiership or get a plum cup draw the demand will once again increase. All the time season ticket holders and members of other schemes are allowed to purchase 4 tickets you won’t stop it happening
I personally think the numbers for Bristol City are excellent.6 -

We can't give it the big un' and have a circle jerk over Wembley but then not show out for League games.
Anyway it's clearly a sensitive topic, but that's my stance, if we sold out our allocation for Wembley and the play off games, we should easily be selling out our first away game after a promotion season.
If people think my view is strong, it is what it is. It doesn't apply to people who want to go but physically can't
I am an attendance snob and I don't hide it.
Just a little empathy I feel and perspective is needed here. As said, should be a great game with a very big backing! Enjoy it!
My post directly and very obviously applies to anyone who would attend a bigger fixture but won't this one, they should be backing the team as it's how we will grow..
I refuse to believe all 40k and the extra demand of Charlton fans for Wembley are all on holiday, or don't have the money etc. I guarantee this would be a sell out if it was a prem team with prestige in an away tie.
Sorry but how can I make it clearer? I am excluding anyone who physically can't make it to the game for whatever reason, but there will be people out there who would be asking for a ticket for a more high profile game, but won't go to this one.
It is disappointing we can't manage between 7-9% or so of our Wembley attendance for an important game.16 -

We didn't even have 20k home fans on Saturday, so you can't compare our away numbers to the 40k at Wembley. Compare them to a % of the regular home support.7 -
Anyone who went to Wembley and can go to this but isn't bothering should be given a lifetime banning order IMO. Quite frankly, they don't deserve to be able to watch the mighty Addicks!5

I reckon that having approx 20% of our season ticket holders going to an away game, in the middle of August, is a good number. I think that imagining that Bristol City away has the same draw as Man Utd away is laughable...(personally, am lucky, was a season ticket holder throughout the premiership years, so I went to see Charlton play at all 'those' grounds....how many of our younger fans have had the chance to do so??...is it any wonder that matches like that are over subscribed??). I also don't get this 'if you can, you should' mentality... If I wasn't a reasonable person, I'd be telling someone who said that to me exactly where to go...whether they 'can' go and whether they 'want' to go are two completely different scenarios and is down to the individual concerned.....and if they want a ticket to a high profile match at a later date, so be it...they'll just have to wait in line until those who did go to these 'less glamorous' matches have had the chance to buy their tickets first... Am very jealous of all who are going to Bristol (unless they're surrounded by the people who surrounded me at Stockport...altho didn't see so many of them up at Carlisle...or Fleetwood...etc etc)...as it's a great city and should be a great match...unfortunately I'll have to be watching on TV...

A near sell out is fantastic support. Over 2k fans will still make a great amount of noise for the boys.Im not a fan of using large one-off away attendances, like 9k at Old Trafford and 40k at Wembley, against fans every year. There's no need for it and they're also not comparable events. Those kind of games are always going to have a huge amount of appeal (I'd never been to an away game until Man Utd in '94 where I joined almost 11,000 other Charlton fans).3

Personal view, I think it’s a little disappointing given all that’s happened in the last 12 months that we took 2,700 to Reading in L1 this time last year and we are struggling to sell our allocation for first game back in the Champ.
Still a good turnout and I’m sure will be a good atmosphere, I just anticipated higher demand all things considered
Half-hourly service Paddington /Temple Meads.
People using holidays as an excuse for non attendance, Watford sold out their allocation on Saturday as did Millwall at Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday at Leicester for example.
Do you think? Where are the majority of away followers travelling from then do you reckon, Kent?

It’s pretty clear Wembley was a one-off. My wife came for only her 3rd match in 40+ years because she wanted to A) go to Wembley and
not miss Charlton’s big day. I doubt she’ll go to another match for years, she loved the whole day, but it was more an "Oasis"-style gig, a big day out, and we had a blast. Why we haven’t sold out away end at Ashton Gate? It will be lots of factors, its expensive, summer holidays, being on Charton TV/VPN, who knows? I get it. I’m picking my Away Days: hoping to go to all London derbies, plus Southampton, Boro, Pompey, Ipswich, Norwich, Leicester, enough for my wallet, with the rest watched from my sofa via Sky or Charlton TV. Each year I plan our family holiday before August and keep May free in case of play-offs, but everyone’s situation family, finances, health, work is different. For those of us going to Ashton Gate, let’s enjoy our first Championship Addicks away match in years, hopefully in glorious sunshine. COYA’s.

Don’t do many away games these days but was tempted by this, floated the idea amongst those I go with but he general consensus was to get qpr tickets instead - some chance of that !!0
