Bristol City [A] tickets to go on restricted sale

I think away support of around 10% of a clubs home attendances seems a fairly good average. Those that get 5k for home games generally take about 500 away on average etc. This season if we get an average gate of around 18k and an average away support of around 1800, that seems about right to me.4

A few Bristol City fans also surprised we haven't sold out.
We can't all be on holidays surely. Wembley there was a demand, we are in the big time now, would be nice to show it and back the team who have been so good for us for so long.
If you are in a position where you can go, but you aren't, but you were one of the people demanding for a Wembley ticket, then I'll be blunt, you are in no position to talk. (If that doesn't apply to you or anyone reading this, then you shouldn't care)
My post obviously doesn't apply to people who can't go for valid reasons. Based on the demand for Wembley, first season back in the Champ, nice weather, Saturday 3pm kick off, and us spending a significant amount of money, the team should be backed.
As I always say, if this was Liverpool away or Man United, people would be asking for spares. It's just the truth.1 -
There are multiple reasons why people don’t travel to away games. Cost is one of them. But by no means the major reason. A lot of our fans are of a certain age and wouldn’t travel to an away game wherever it is. Then there is location. I live on the south coast and wanted to go. However I’m not prepared to go by train, even if you paid me, and didn’t fancy driving there and back alone. Then Golfie said he and his boy fancied it so I’m tagging along with them. Like many do now I’ve travelled the lenghth and breth of the country, year in, year out in the past and don’t feel compelled to do so regularly now.
It’s ok for some on here to be disappointed in our numbers but I’m sure if everyone was under 30, no kids, disposable income, nothing else to do on a Saturday then our numbers would be significantly higher. However, it is what it is.8 -

Personal view, I think it’s a little disappointing given all that’s happened in the last 12 months that we took 2,700 to Reading in L1 this time last year and we are struggling to sell our allocation for first game back in the Champ.
Still a good turnout and I’m sure will be a good atmosphere, I just anticipated higher demand all things considered
Half-hourly service Paddington /Temple Meads.
People using holidays as an excuse for non attendance, Watford sold out their allocation on Saturday as did Millwall at Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday at Leicester for example.
Do you think? Where are the majority of away followers travelling from then do you reckon, Kent?
A good chunk are coming from Kent but from all over, like the home support.1 -

If only being a "true" fan could be measured purely by away matches attended, it’s not that simple. Using away attendance as a barometer ignores the many social and economic barriers: family, work shifts, childcare, travel, and match day costs. Personally, I don’t fancy trekking to Blackburn or Swansea, paying high train fares or driving long distances, then standing behind the goal in the away end when I prefer a halfway-line seat. I love going to the Valley and have had a season ticket for 40+ seasons but alot of time an Away Day experience leaves me disappointed, regardless of the result, its simply not as enjoyable. Fair play to those travelling far and wide, especially for long-distance midweek games. I’m only doing the Boro midweek trip this season to see a friend who supports them, otherwise I’d watch on TV. Onwards and upwards, looking forward to going to Ashton Gate on Saturday.

Be interesting if we draw a big Premier league team in the cup and all of a sudden people will be more willing to go.
Just to be clear one more time. I am not telling anyone how to support this club. I am saying it's disappointing to not see better support.4 -

To be fair, I did have a little walk along the beach and up and down the high street (decent bacon roll from a greasy spoon)....before a nice cup of tea in the Wetherspoons...didn't feel the need to see any more of Fleetwood :-)1 -

Every fan has their own way of being a fan - some go home and away religiously, some pick and choose. Some buy season tickets, some don't. Some are lapsed, others are addicted. Some have found other things to do, and different life stages result in different levels of attendance. Some never attend games.
Any of these doesn't make anyone more or less a fan.2 -

One for the rumours thread as well but I've heard we'll get a three-point deduction if we don't sell out our current allocation for this game.12

With less than 250 tickets left on sale, I'm pretty sure we'll sell out by Saturday1

Are you sure the initial 2500 wasn't for the middle tires and the other 1500 are for the tires on the side of them?
Never been to Ashton Gate before so I'm genuinely asking.0 -

I'm sure the front sections are blocked off as they have been sold, meaning we would have requested more, so they have to open up the side blocks. Would seem strange that they would open up the sides before the front (behind the goal).
Doing my math's here, we have sold at least 4000 tickets, as I doubt they would open up another area in the home-end to accommodate us more tickets. You can see on the website that it clearly highlights the away end and we have sold all 3 middle blocks with 1 of the sides practically sold out and there roughly 250 left on the other side.
As you can see, I don't waste my evenings1 -
