SporadicAddick said:TootingRedArmy said:If only being a "true" fan could be measured purely by away matches attended, it’s not that simple. Using away attendance as a barometer ignores the many social and economic barriers: family, work shifts, childcare, travel, and match day costs. Personally, I don’t fancy trekking to Blackburn or Swansea, paying high train fares or driving long distances, then standing behind the goal in the away end when I prefer a halfway-line seat. I love going to the Valley and have had a season ticket for 40+ seasons but alot of time an Away Day experience leaves me disappointed, regardless of the result, its simply not as enjoyable. Fair play to those travelling far and wide, especially for long-distance midweek games. I’m only doing the Boro midweek trip this season to see a friend who supports them, otherwise I’d watch on TV. Onwards and upwards, looking forward to going to Ashton Gate on Saturday.
Every fan has their own way of being a fan - some go home and away religiously, some pick and choose. Some buy season tickets, some don't. Some are lapsed, others are addicted. Some have found other things to do, and different life stages result in different levels of attendance. Some never attend games.
Any of these doesn't make anyone more or less a fan.1 -

Also how do you define "true" fans?

A few Bristol City fans also surprised we haven't sold out.
We can't all be on holidays surely. Wembley there was a demand, we are in the big time now, would be nice to show it and back the team who have been so good for us for so long.
If you are in a position where you can go, but you aren't, but you were one of the people demanding for a Wembley ticket, then I'll be blunt, you are in no position to talk. (If that doesn't apply to you or anyone reading this, then you shouldn't care)
My post obviously doesn't apply to people who can't go for valid reasons. Based on the demand for Wembley, first season back in the Champ, nice weather, Saturday 3pm kick off, and us spending a significant amount of money, the team should be backed.
As I always say, if this was Liverpool away or Man United, people would be asking for spares. It's just the truth.
Be interesting if we draw a big Premier league team in the cup and all of a sudden people will be more willing to go.
Just to be clear one more time. I am not telling anyone how to support this club. I am saying it's disappointing to not see better support.QPR tickets will be going on sale in the coming days and we’ll have an allocation of around 1,800. That thread will be an interesting read.

Are you sure the initial 2500 wasn't for the middle tires and the other 1500 are for the tires on the side of them?
Never been to Ashton Gate before so I'm genuinely asking.
Yeah, that kind of proves my point that we will sell out as there is roughly 250 left.
Have you been on the ticketing site recently?
This is a genuine comment BTW, so please correct me if I'm wrong
Plymouth took 3.4k last season. We will sell our or nearly sell out our initial allocation, had we sold out quicker, we would have got more tickets.
I am turning into a parrot now, but I find it disappointing after the season we just had and how good the team is, the demand isn't there. We should be fighting over these tickets imo, but hey ho4 -

I’m assuming that @Braziliance wasn’t around in our PL seasons. Some of our turn outs then were shocking.2

Our average away attendance was between 800-1000 in 23/24, Plymouth's was 1600 in their last league 1 season.

It isn't actually, it's more or less the same distance. However, of course Bristol for Plymouth away support is more or less on the doorstep.

Our average away attendance was between 800-1000 in 23/24, Plymouth's was 1600 in their last league 1 season.Plymouth are like a few clubs who have an exceptional away following given their location and how 'successful' they are.Plymouth, Exeter(yes, true), Wednesday, Norwich, Ipswich, Portsmouth and Leeds. These are a few that have a terrific away following regardless of their division and position in the table.1 -
Can't believe people continue to argue over away numbers. I couldn't give a shit if we sold 1500 or 2500. There are many different reasons why people do, or don't, go to away matches. To me you are no less of a fan if you dont. Same as ST holders. You are no less of a fan if you don't buy a ST.9

I can already see the next excuse coming of there's more to do in London than Devon or that they have less competition or the trains aren't great or something.
Carry on coping I guess

Amazed how much this has triggered people. The best part is I wasn't even on a wind up, just pointing out that it would be nicer to see a bit more excitement after an amazing season.
More replies incoming but it won't change the fact we are looking like we have struggled to sell out our first Championship away day after people losing their minds on the Wembley tickets thread.
Also, cause you're evidently a bit of a plonker, I'll go a bit more in depth. A 9 year old that has parents or family are very different to a Charlton fan who has no relatives that support Charlton and no one willing to take them to a game, I would firmly fall into the category of 'wants to go but can't' which of whom none of my post is aimed at for those circumstances. Tit.1 -

People may be reluctant to go in the home end, the locals get a bit excitable once they have a cider down their throat.
