10 games, then we will have a good idea.

He still has 42 league games to score 10 goals and he will have been worth his price tag. You just don't really get prolific forwards in this league and if you do, they're more 10s of millions or ain't in this league very long.
Even 10 games might not necessarily tell us whether he can still click once the side does. After 10 league games Matt Godden had 3 goals. In the last 10 league games he scored 8. Jones teams can take ages to get going and we were rubbish until December last year, as you say 42 games left to make an impression.
Kelman himself only had 3 league goals by mid-December last season

I think even 7 or 8 goals would be a decent return. Either way this season won’t determine whether he’s worth the price tag, we’ve signed him for the player he will be in 2-3 years time imo
Just to point out that Macauley Bonne scored 11 goals after an even bigger jump to this league, yet people constantly bring up how shite he is….

That was his flash in the pan but anyone without rose tinted could see how pony he was.
Godden to me looked like he had a good touch and knew what he was doing from the off , Alfie May had something about him, Ahadme looked guff from the off .
Not seen Kelman yet , hopefully he’s not QPR’s payback for Bonne and that last season wasn’t a flash in the pan

Bonne had some good games- he wasn’t always bad in the championship season .  Yes, it didn’t last long .
  • Early prediction: he’ll be back on loan at Orient by the end of January
Callum, I feel like because, by your admission, you don't rate him that you're not giving him a fair chance.
Possibly. I’ll zip it for a couple of weeks and see how things are after Millwall, probably.

He just isn’t passing the eye test, with or without the ball. Even the pressing was fairly non-existent for someone who should’ve been fresh.
He was a lot better today. Those two weeks of drilling our system must’ve helped big time - and positive that he is adapting quickly.

This is what I want to see. The goals can follow.
First time for me seeing him live this season and I liked what I saw .
Not a complete thumbs up but deffo not a thumbs down.
im more positive than negative on him

  • Lovely link up with Apter at one point, which led him bursting into the box. He almost, and would have found Carey on the edge of the area, but for an excellent interception from the Defender.

Always seems half a yard to slow or weak for this level for me, so far. Still some time to gel, but im starting to wonder

Thought he looked fairly quick to me, few times he started behind the Defender and got in front to shield the ball

Agree was a lot better today, would like to see him start with either Leaburn or Tanto and not have to bear the brunt of every centre half’s challenge

the 2 lumps at the back for them today were useless, he just need someone closer to him to help out

He's been brought in as he's a goal poacher but he's not missed any chances all season... I think he's a decent player but our lack of creativity / quality in the final third is preventing us seeing the best of him

Thought he put a real shift in today. Whoever plays upfront, they need better service. Wouldn’t be against finding a way to play two upfront + Campbell.

Just putting it out there... the three games we've started with Campbell / Kelman, we've got five points... Maybe starting with Strikers that rely on movement, rather than strength against seasoned Championship defences isn't the worst way to go.

Thought he tried hard today and tried to hold up, flick onbetc when needed but doesn't seem a striker who will create something for himself like Godden can

Cooper is a man mountain and had him in his pocket all game

Their defenders are certainly not useless. Cooper has been a solid Championship defender for years.

Kelman did a couple of nice runs, and put it one cross he would have loved to receive, but didn't really looked like scoring today. I think Miles gave them more problems,  but his fitness slightly worries ne.

Both their CBs are big lumps and good in the air. Think the idea was instead of them just beating up Leaburn that we'd try to use the pace of Campbell and Kelman...

Should've brought Tanto on to use his pace and to hold the ball up so try to relieve the defence a bit.

Yeah it was better but other than a few lay-offs there wasn't really much for him.

Every game this season our striker has been isolated and completely out of the game for large periods, it's a big issue.

Kelman looked a lot fitter today and played really well by far his best performance very Godden like chasing and hassling the defender … deserved to stay don’t agree with taking him off .. and also feel Tanto should be given a go instead of Leaburn as the first change .

Watch Godden come back and do something with the very same service.

Jake Cooper is a fucking third heavier than what he weighed playing us years back , he may be 9ft 7 but he’s a cat funt

Easily his best game today by a distance, against 2 lumps at CB he made life difficult and while he was on we dominated the second ball. Again service was non existent, I doubt godden even gets in to that game.

It was Kelman’s best game but I disagree on Godden. He would have battled the centre backs better than Kelman and probably been just as involved, if not more

Godden would have won more free kicks also.

I thought Kelman played well but none of our strikers have made the position their own yet. The battle for the starting place is still wide open and one of them needs to step up.

What was he doing when Kelman ran off him into the channel and put the ball across the face of goal?
  • He looked decent yesterday. Much more pace and bursts of acceleration.

In a team that creates chances he’s a very good striker. Would like to see him paired with Leaburn. But then again that would mean one of Campbell or Apter being sacrificed.

Will say one thing if the worst did happen, players like Kelman, Olaofe and Knibbs will mean we would be well set to bounce straight back.
