I kept quiet as didnt want to jinx it... But started wondering midway through the second half, if the Selles sacking actually benefited us. Easy in hindsight as Wilder hasn't had enough time to work with the team, and they didnt get their "new" manager bounce
But Jones' record since he joined us, when facing Reading / Selles has been terrible... three games, one point if my memory serves me right?
Won't get too much attention but Bree and Burke both played the full 90 and looked fine at the end (touch wood). Competition for Ramsay and Apter is exactly what they need and it will be interesting to see who plays next time out
I think we are showing ourselves to be the dictionary definition of a tricky fixture. We are beatable because, for the time being at least, we don’t score a lot of goals, but my goodness we are going to make you work for it. Very few easy chances surrendered and we are going to scrap for every ball. On that last point, I really want to flag Greg Docherty today, he was excellent and you’d have to be blind not to see that today. Would’ve been amazing if that header had flashed into the top corner instead of just over.
Thought fitness and desire became a huge part of it today. They had more of the ball so should’ve been the fresher, with us having had to chase them for more of the game. However, they went off a cliff somewhere between 80 and 85 mins and just started to look really slow minded and footed. We are built to capitalise on that and did so today.
Still feel there’s more to come too because it’s not like it was all backs to wall camped in our third for 80 minutes - we had our moments and another day could’ve strung together the moves to score more. It’s been similar in most of our games. You can argue there’s a pattern to that but, to my eyes, the signs are there that it’s clicking a little more every game. I’m not at all concerned that it’s not going to come.
That was a 7 am kickoff for me and the warm glow of endorphins that late winner has given me are going to see me through the whole weekend and beyond. Lovely stuff.
Wilder has a job in his hands, whatever Seles and the board there did over the summer, they have proper messed it up to go from 92 points last season to 6 straight defeats at the start of this.
Imagine this has been the design for the majority of the games this season, soak up pressure and then attempt to snatch a goal late-on.
Shame it's only happened twice so far this season, hopefully more to come.
I do hope that we slowly transform in similar fashion to what we eventually saw last season as an attacking team. Of course because we're in a higher Division I wouldnt expect it to be so drastic.
But we also need to avoid key injuries to avoid a repeat of October / November

Isint this kind of the Nathan Jones model that Luton fans spoke off.
His team start of slow, but become more fluid as the season goes on.

True but it's a much, much stronger squad now.
For example, Ramsay being out today wasn't the end of the world as it would have been last year.

So true... I think it was Fen who mentioned the fitness of Bree and Burke, and them lasting 90mins - That alone was fair play from them both, as until it got mentioned on here, I forgot they'd had such few minutes
Maybe, just maybe Nathan Jones knows what he is doing. Some of the criticism on the match thread was OTT. We learnt year that he has a season long process which appears to be all about getting the defence right and then starting to work further up top. Of course it will be more difficult to enact this season given the quality of the division but he isn’t going to do it any other way. He will take time to make changes, we’re not going to hit teams for 4 or 5 and we are punching above our weight.
Sorry to bring up a negative but I’m getting royally fucked off with the anti Miles Leaburn brigade. Is everything really so rosy atm that fucktards have to make up shit.
Are they expecting a 6’5” big lad to sprint about like a whippet. All this ‘lazy’ bollox is grinding my gears!!
Bottom line….. we have a lot more ball in the final third with ML in the side
What a strange last 10 minutes tho, Sheff Utd looked like they knew what was coming and completely lost their heads. Luckily we got the breakthrough in time.
As someone who'll defend squad choices more than most, I do hope that we see more of Olaofe going forward, as even I've been confused as to why we've not seen more of him.
Also wonder how Kelman is feeling, the pass for that goal, am sure is the sort of thing that he's begging for almost.

Not sure what Naz has been smoking but I'd love to try it
