Scotland somehow managed to beat Greece! Got battered all game, went 1 down, then scored twice from their only shots on target — and the third came when the Greek keeper gifted it straight to Dykes, who smashed it home into an empty net!

To be honest it was the sort of match that only requires that you win - how you do it doesn’t really matter.

Now 17 countries qualified as Morocco won their African qualifying group on Friday with 2 of their 8 games still to play.
Up to 18 qualifiers today after Tunisia also win their group with 2 games in hand, although in their case they've played 8 of 10. No real shocks about the first two qualifiers from Africa, but with 9 to qualify this time there are some relatively unfamiliar names among the countries still in contention.
Egypt won their group yesterday, during the second-last round of games in Africa, making it 19 qualifiers to date.
Algeria made it 20 countries qualified today, guaranteeing topping their group with a game still to play.

Northern Ireland up 1 nil against the Slovaks. On BBC and the biases commentators are doing my head in. this team is full of saints and heroes the way they're going on about them.

If I was to believe these commentators it would make me think that this northern Ireland team could actually be the greatest team to have ever exist.

I found their hero worship of Connor Bradley nauseating. He played well, to be fair (as did the whole team), but he had quite a few moments where he showed a lack of maturity and was desperately trying to dribble past the whole team and score a worldy when there were teammates in vastly better positions. Despite this, the commentators were gushing over him like he was the reincarnation of Best, Pele and Maradona combined.

For those planning on going over can’t recommend LAFC’s BMO Stadium enough. Great design, very well organised - security scanners to enter every gate to ensure supporters’ safety and when in there great bar and food options. The only quirky thing (bearing in mind I am mid-50s) was being asked for photo ID every time I bought alcoholic drinks when watching a game there this week.

Watching Norway giving Israel a good shoeing at the mo. 5-0 after 75 minutes. This is an Israel side that narrowly lost 4-5 to Italy by the way. Haaland’s scored an hattrick and missed a penalty.
They do actually look decent and aren’t just a one man team. Ødegaard isn’t even playing.
Also, as a side point, they’ve got this weird kind of runic script for their names and numbers on their shirts. Very Viking and quite striking. I like it. Nice shirt too (I forgive the red and blue because it’s based on the Norwegian flag 😉)

Haaland has 8 goals in his last 2 internationals and already has 21 goals for club and country this season.

Also becomes the fastest player ever to reach 50 international goals (46 games).

If England get knocked out, I think it would be great to see Norway spring a big surprise.
  • UAE come from behind to beat Oman 2-1.

It means the last group match on Tuesday, Qatar v UAE, is effectively now a play off for the world cup. Qatar will qualify with a win, UAE only need a draw to make their first world cup since Italia 90.

    Albania win 1-0 in Serbia.

Means that if England win in Latvia on Tuesday, they’ll qualify for the World Cup with two games  to spare.

Think we should make it after all Latvia drew 2-2 at home to Andorra yesterday.

Somehow we (Faroe Islands) beat Montenegro 4-0. Looks like we're going to miss out as usual, but it's been a decent competiton for the little guys.

To qualify, we'd need to beat the Czech Republic today and Croatia next time. 😂 Ain't happening, but let's make them work for it!

They clearly want those jolly jocks there as Belarus have just had an equaliser disallowed for the softest fowl on McTominay in the build up. Deary me.

CR equalise, then FI immediately retake the lead. Game on!

Faroe Islands have been a good side for a good while now. They've beaten Greece and Turkey in recent years.
