Firstly, I didn't think Wednesday were the worse team we've faced this season and, at times, their fans were loud.

Wednesday came to fight but this Nathan Jones side is happy to match that with our own grit and a bit of skill.

We deserved our lead at HT and we were in control until the hour.

Our subs unsettled us while theirs gave them a lift.

Their goal had been coming and they were pinning us back.

But we dug in and were seeing the game out until the ref had a total brain part.

Missing the foul on Knibbs as he ran into the box was bad enough but he then seemed to ignore the most blatant foul and red card you will see all season.

Ok, play on for two seconds to see if there is an advantage to two players are lying on the ground and he ignores that too.

Did he miss it or just bottle it?

I assume the lino put him right.

Either way it was appalling and he then couldn't even get the wall right as its ten yards from the edge of the D to the penalty spot.

Thankfully, no consequences for us and we won.

Not the prettiest but 15 points after 10 games is 1.5 per game so bang on target for a top ten finish.

Four points on the road next week would be ideal.
Blank verse is not your forte, Henry.

    Why?

We can all take the virtue signalling when we win.

Had we had lost 0-1 you would all agree.

Honestly players can do fuck all for 50 games as long as your face fits or the price tag is big enough it's okay.

Wake the fuck up happy clappers if the midfield and defence hadn't been getting out of the shit Kelman would of slaughtered.
Just stop trying to troll now... You're making yourself look a bit of a tit
    Because we won Kelman.

God knows how many games no goals.

Seriously  has he even had a shot terget si ce early August.

    I'm guessing no.

In my opinion the tits are people who straight up don't understand what a striker is supposed to do.

Quite the opposite. When they are on the pitch we look good because of their constant pressing. When they come off we are forced on to the defensive. Huge problem for NJ to fix.

I think Leaburn just can't really do it, tbh. He's lost his energy. I don't think he should be getting the minutes he is at the moment
    FFS. Not you too…🤣
Leaburn won his headers, but his press just isn't what a Jones team needs. It cost us a win against Millwall and it was costing us here
I’m sorry, but I’m not having Leaburn as the reason we didn’t beat Millwall, unless I’ve misunderstood and it was Leaburn that stupidly went through another player while on a yellow?

This was a classic example of the 3 points being the most important thing.

He wasn't the main reason, but he quit on the press just before the player he should have been running towards played the killer pass
  • For all the talk about Kelman, he's a Striker who didnt score once, nor have a shot on target

Why is Kaminski immune to any blame... He's a Goalkeeper, its his job to stop the ball from going in the net, and he couldnt do that on one occasion.

    PWR.

Nathan got away with that one.We should have been out of sight but on 60 mins... BAM, lets make the same 2 subs as we usually do. From that point we fell apart & lucky to hang onto 3 points.

So frustrating. We win but there is so much wrong with how we play. Lets hope we can stay up & address the situation in the summer.

3 points is all that matters but I do think Nathan turned what was a comfortable performance into a tougher game by his substitutions. Bringing Leaburn on for Kelman, which is what he effectively did even if it was in the mix of that double substitution, he basically brought on a reactive striker for an active striker and that turned the impetus back in their favour and let them back into the game, firstly for their goal and then to continue on the attack to try and get a second. It should have been an easy 5-0 to us but in the end I was more than happy to settle for a battled 2-1

I thought in real time he should have done better but I've not seen it again. Like most keepers these days they seem happy to palm it away even if into the danger zone. And he was Mr Flappy a couple of times too. An upgrade on Mannion. Maybe but not massively.

Very frustrating watching Leaburn sometimes, he looks like he’s running in treacle half the time.

dont think he puts himself about enough for someone of his size, did win a lot of headers when he came on though….just need Kelman getting onto those flick on’s….but he’s never on the pitch by then
He’s got quite bad acceleration but is actually quite quick when he gets going.

When we can criticise Kelman for being a total dud?
When we are much lower than  9th and he has not played every game. It is a team game and he is playing a big part.  Bonne scored more goals than him. Maybe we should get him back
  • Seemed to lack our normal intensity and drive second half but personally will never complain if we win important three points and 9th in the table a point off the playoff places what’s not to like so different from this time last year who would have thought we would have 23,000 in the Valley a year ago.

I thought it was just an unlucky goal to concede (I was being sarcastic in my post that you quoted for obvious reasons), the initial shot evades TK, hits the post and their player is simply able to react quicker - I found it ironic how it was similar to our opener, in the sense if was a bit of a rebound.

I've thought Kaminski has been going from strength to strength in each game to be fair.

Yeah, we made an absolute pig's ear of that. Might need to rethink our substitutions cos until then we were in no bother for the 3rd game running
It seems we just make them at 60 mins regardless of how the game is going. Kelman was just starting to get in behind regularly I thought, and then he got pulled. I know it's a Sat-Tues-Sat week but that change nearly fucked us
I didn't see that in Kelman. He looked tired by that point,  and lacking in confidence.  There were a few moments when he seemed a yard behind where he should have been.
You mean 5 mins before he got subbed he made a 30 yard run, got inbetween 2 of their defenders & almost won a corner.

    Yeah....he was that tired.

One observation I have made over the season so far is that it is harder to sit on a lead than it was in League One. We are better at this level when we try to go for it a bit. That isn't to say that we aren't good defensively but I think we need to tweak the balance a little.

One thought regarding that potential career ending "tackle" by their keeper needs more than just the normal 3 match ban, if you look at the replays the guy lead with his forearm right into Tanto's neck, which could have resulted in catastrophic injuries, and to think the alleged ref wasn't giving anything at first till his assistant stepped in, which is unbelievable itself, throw the f'in book at the keeper...

Excuse my ignorance but when did the covered end change its name to cupboard end. Even the commentator on SSN said covered and corrected himself and said cupboard?

Not the best today but three points.
I shouldn’t tell Nathan his job but maybe he should meditate on the performance of Kelman
    as compared to Leaburn.

We were comfortable until the subs in the second half — then all of a sudden we sat back and let Wendy’s come at us. Aside from the goal there weren’t too many scary moments, and by around the 80th minute we’d managed to get back into it. Didn’t make for an easy watch though!

Great crowd today as well — loads of tourists about in the Curbs stand, mostly Germans by the looks of it, probably over for the NFL game.

I think the ref thought he was officiating NFL judging by the almost non red card.

    How does the ref ?
    1. Not send the keeper off straight away? Think it was the Lino that told him.
    2. Gives the free kick on the D and the wall is a yard away from the penalty spot?
The free kick would have cleared the crossbar if it had been in the goal area

I might get pelters for this Bree’s dead ball is excellent and reliable but as an actual rwb I wasn’t really keen on him today.

Sort of agree with that, but two words concern me
    1: Ref
    2: Officiating
Both of which I thought were missing totally today...😉

And in the first 5 games of the season he wouldn't have chased that, you can see the change in his game and how he's adapting to how Jones wants him to play
