Stupid batting. Just play normal cricket shots.

I can’t get too upset at a no. 9 trying to play shots when it’s just got him and his batting partner to one of the highest partnerships of the Test match.

Archer hits a four and the lead is now 200.
  • Such a modern dismissal that. The concept of leaving seems alien now.

Out next ball playing a hook lol

    160-9, 33.5 ovs

    Archer 5 (3) c Smith b Doggett
  • Another crazy dismissal, batting like it's the final over of a T20.

At least it will go into a 3rd day. Aussies will have around 30 overs to bat today. No way will they get 200 in the final session.
  • Some great shots, BUT it's like the last 3 overs of a T20. Not a Test with TEN sessions left.

You can’t play golf and cricket at the same time

Get Smith early again and I think we win this.

If not, you’d think 204 on a Day 3 pitch is more than achievable

    Bleak
  • How many times has England failed to bat for 35 overs in both innings? No wonder we struggle in ODIs.
  • The ball is just going soft, but we've been bowled out twice before being able to exploit it.

Nathan Lyon bowled only one over across both innings. Reckon they’d trade him for Beau Webster right now

I wonder what Boycs makes of all this. He would take 35 overs himself just to get to 50.
  • The Aussies will have to get the highest score in the match.

A lead of 200 would give us a decent chance.
The trouble is that in previous tests pitch has flattened out as the match has gone on. Let's hope it doesn't today/tomorrow.
  • It feels like a Test match of the future, which will be a two-innings T20.
  • We've lost 9 wickets in 38 balls in this match. This pitch isn't minefield territory.

    England's batting in a nutshell:

Such a waste of a great day's bowling yesterday.
  • Bowlers needed a rest as well. Archer looked exhausted this time yesterday

And back on planet earth....well, India to be more precise.

SA have scored 134 off 35.2 overs  1 ball more than the Aussies faced for 2 more runs. However, in the 5 day format they have lost only 2 wickets.
  • Need a couple of early wickets to put the pressure on.
  • Head opening!!!

Perhaps the ECB can come up with another version of limited overs cricket. We have T20 and The Hundred, so maybe a shorter version called the 50.....
