What has catorgorised us over the last successful year is that we don't gift goals. We stop opponents and then quite often grab a chance and beat them. I was more annoyed than many after Hernandez gifted Wrexham a goal out of nothing. I have no time for players capable of doing what he did. We were frustrating them with a sick and injured squad. But that defeat and the injuries dented our confidence ad displayed how fragile it can be. We have to get that back and look at the second half on Tuesday night as the beginning of that. Anderson, Doc, Coventry and Carey need to start. Bree is not at it like he was when he came into the side and I'd have Apter there. If you are going to beat us, i'd rather you earn it!4

Nope, it was Breen Jones Macca Ramsay for the first 25, then Kaminsky got injured and it switched to Breen, Ramsay, Jones Macca Campbell, but we let in a stupid goal before it could make any difference.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

Our finishing is absolutely woeful, Olaofe blazing wide when well placed, a chance that could have given us a point against a team who had run us ragged for 70% of the game. Even so, without Kaminski the game would have been done after 20 minutes. That is what he's there for of course, but this time he showed what a shrewd signing he was, alas one of the few recent successes
The 2nd 1/2 performance showed me that the players are still giving it their all, when Nathan gets his personnel and tactics right.
All we can do is to keep on keeping on and hope there is a few quid in the kitty for January reinforcements.
Nypan, the talent who came on for Boro is a loanee from Manchester Citteeee. He was signed from Rosenborg for some £12 Million +, THAT is just one example of what we are up against
The reality is that our strikers have had very few chances to score this season, as we don't create much in open play.1 -
Very much agree with first 3 paras of Braziliance post above but can't imagine NJ would have walked into the job not knowing what kind of money would be available in the future? I think the people running the club are doing it as best they can based on revenue and FFP rules...... whatever they are and whatever they're called these days.....? Respectfully, this league is a different beast. There are no easy games in this league, and almost every club in here probably wins League 1 or at minimum gets play offs.
There is never a bad time to get promoted, and relegation is almost always a disaster. We need to live in the present. Even if we are a year ahead, doesn't matter, it will cost us far more to have a promotion campaign again than to spend to ensure we stay up.
I actually feel bad for Nathan Jones as he is undoubtedly a good Champ manager, just feel he has been short changed currently. He needs the backing he deserves.
Problem we have is injuries and a refusal to change systems to suit the players we have available i.e we have decent wingers, play them as such and not as wing backs.
He also has the opposite of a refusal to change systems. He’s changing systems far too much and multiple times every game. What he actually needs to do is pick one and stick with it, though I agree wingers is the way to go at the moment
We've been unlucky losing our best 2 defenders on the left and our best right CB..... and our best striker plus Matty not coming back........ each for a lot of games. And those games have coincided with playing a few of the in-form teams.
I do also think that NJ hasn't found the best way to get a tune out of the fiddle he's been left with.......... and I'd like to see him do better with that....... starting at Brum on Saturday please NJ

My take on NJ and partly why I am not too worried is that he seems to get it right but not always conventionally. I think he made some massive errors last season up until about this point but it all fell into place. The Northampton 5-0 which might be considered the point when we turned it round was a game where he was forced to use width thanks to injury and illness. You could argue a couple of nil nils before that was a turning point but from that game we never looked back. I think what I am trying to say is that he doesn't do it how we think he should sometimes but he does it and he probably has to work this all out his way which I expect he will. Many of us know, or at least we think we know, a bit about football so we look at Tuesday and can't see what the starting plan was in terms of the midfield but we can't achieve what NJ can and we just have to go with the flow and if he decides to play Mary Berry up front, we just have to go with it and wait and trust him. He has earned that trust.
More important than us, the players have to trust him and that might explain why it is important he has his players. Some players react to losing by blaming everybody else and we need what Brian Clough had where they are loyal to the cause. The cause being the manager.0 -

A point about the bad run around this time last season. We had for several consecutive weeks 9 players out injured, that included Jones and Ramsey. I remember looking at the "who's missing list" week after week and thinking "I cant believe this !"0
