Actually thought the first half was pretty much how we wanted it to go and set us up for TC and Kelman to change the game in the second half. However after half time we seemed to really retreat into ourselves and really let them dictate the game. They weren’t brilliant, but they were better than us and have a striker who’s on fire and can take his chances.

Disappointing result sounds like we were crap. Still a win vs Pompey and 6 from 9 will be a great return

Sometimes you can see where are sides weaknesses are, for Charlton today it was that Midfield. Probably, only Coventry can say he affected the game, Bree had a shocker and doesn't get close to the player who hits  a simple ball into the forward for the goal. Carey was virtually invisible and our passing was very poor. The front two and the back three can probably state that, at least they gave it a go, but Norwich passed with purpose and in the second half, we got nowhere near them. Norwich deserved the win and we didn't deserve anything.

Norwich strolled thru that…didn’t get out of first gear…the Titanic could have turned in the area to score that goal….awful awful display

That was piss poor, offered nothing up front & never looked like scoring even at 0-0
Spot on. Rank poor. Relegation form. And yet again, no goals.

There was no need to set up like that and not start with Apter and Campbell as wing backs and take the game to Norwich.
Other than the memory of the 1-5 defeat to Southampton where we did similar with no defensive Wing-Backs?
    Norwich aren’t Southampton
Missing the point Red Robin. You can probably get away with Apter at wing back, at home to Oxford, not away at Norwich or even Southampton, if you like.
Maybe. I think I’m just frustrated at the complete lack of creativity on either flank. I cannot decipher what the plan is when we have possession.

Can't believe they got Makama for £1.2 million. He looks an excellent player. I think we've paid a lot more for less.
  • Bell is absolutely huge for us. Every time he’s come off we’ve been worse off.

We were shit, 2nd half in particular. Can’t remember seeing a player not being able to kick the ball properly on pretty much every occasion as I saw Bree do today absolutely baffling, his performance goes down as one I’m never going to forget and for no good reason, I think Carey is close to getting a few splinters in his arse aswell to say he’s gone off the boil is an understatement , it’s more a gentle simmer, we looked so clueless 2nd half and no better after the subs, We continued to lump it with the smaller players playing into Norwich hands, TC was having a can’t be bothered day and got lucky with another pull out (oooer Mrs!!), Doc?what’s going on,the game is passing him by at the moment, didn’t have the fight in us today very disappointing. NJ needs to get stuck into them after that, amazing how not be on the sideline makes a difference.

Perfectly content with that for an hour, thinking get TC and Kelman on and we could snatch this. But Anderson off and Docherty on, and Bell off at same time, and we're lop-sided and unable to re-gain any shape. Docherty chasing their guys across the pitch to no effect and then we concede. And we never got any shape back thereafter!

Taking Bell off killed us. He’s so important at the back. It was those initial subs that did us in. Why not just do a straight swap. Kelman and Campbell for Leaburn and Aloafe and leave the rest as it was.
    Absolutely.

I have no idea what Jones was thinking taking off Anderson, when he gets stuck in, breaks up play and gives us impetus. Docherty reminds me more and more of Matt 'Mr. Clean Shorts' Holland after Parker left. Runs around a lot and does little else - like having ten men, and teams able to play straight through the gaps in our midfield. It's not his fault he's Jones's favourite, but he's League One quality. And is more pass-sideways-or-back when we're on the break (and doesn't like shooting).

Just bring on TC and Kelman for god's sake.

And if the apalling Bree had been subbed for Apter, we would have had some attacking nous on that wing, and maybe our strikers could have been fed some chances? Yes, Gough is young - but he was one of about four who had a decent game - could it *really* have gone any worse ?

We deserved nothing and we got nothing.

Hope Nathan Jones gets stuck into them post game and we see a reaction in a few days time because that was up there with the worst performances of the season.
I feel like positionally we were fairly well set up, first half especially, but there was no heart in that performance from anyone but Jones, Gough, Anderson and Kaminski. Proper shite effort from everyone else. Especially in the second half.

So glad I wasn’t there.  Bad enough watching on the telly.  First time this season I’ve genuinely thought we’re looking like a relegation team.  Last 20 was embarrassing; rather than chasing an equaliser at times we even turned our backs and ran from challenges.  NJ has a job to try and get these players up for a relegation battle cos that is where we are - and atm without some inspiration and investment it looks like a worse position than 2019/20

Annoying. First half went exactly how we would have wanted and set us up to squeeze them second half and instead we decided to be absolutely rubbish when we came out instead. Devoid of ideas and drive, I’m ok with the long ball when we’re deep but as soon as we got into their half we just panicked every time. Their goal was a bit lucky but they created enough to get that luck, we were entirely praying for that Berry chance to go in and nothing else. Bring me a left wingback, a striker/winger and a midfielder who can shift a bit in the middle please
Spot on Gary, very few people were critical of that first half performance and most, including me, thought everything was going to plan, the second 45 tarnished a workman like first half performance, it was like watching a different team.

Yeah he looked really good, even put in a shift defensively when we had corners (which were, admittedly, terrible). They’ve got a really good striker there.

For the record, I thought Anderson was flagging just before he came off, so as much as we could have done without it I get why he was subbed. Don’t know if others noticed. Unfortunately when Doc came on fresh he looked just as knackered!!!😬

Terrible performance especially second half. Very negative we can’t seem to mark players properly. Also the crossing was abysmal.

Yes agree, other than Bree we were ok to a point 1st half thinking we would kick on, but we kicked back instead!!

Unfortunately we have to manage his minutes for the next few weeks.

Bad day at the office, showing just how much we need to actually get the cheque book out in January if we are to stay up.

At least Patrick Casey had a good game.

He's like the best bits of Kelman and Leaburn with pace to burn on top.
  • Absolutely piss poor and if they don’t sort this out quick League 1 beckons again , this team as it is will not keep us in this League .

I think we feel like we're a player down when Carey isn't on top form. Which sadly has been way too often lately.

Bree looked like he had won a competition to play for Charltons first 11 , reckon I’ve seen better attempts at the Cross bar challenge ( the poor ones ) than his corners today , absolutely atrocious yet still stayed on pitch the full 90 , baffling!

Crikey lads was it really that bad. At work since 3 and just came in and saw the result. Then to read the comments here but then looking at some of the players marks just dont add up. Apart from how bad Bree is.

Think we could pick a player out of every team, but we can’t. Hopefully got a couple of gems lined up.

15 minute walk home. That was our worst performance of the season and more disappointed as I thought Norwich were as bad as I have seen. Can see why they are where they are. Positives.....Bell is back, Burke is back. Pompey next. Need to get something as Coventry at home is one I expect to lose. A boxing day to forget. UTA
