Playing not to lose rather than thinking this is a massive game for us to try to win and to least have a go at them.

At any level, our set pieces are unacceptable.
    Spot on, all of this.

Why does Knibbs not get a look in? I can to an extent admire jones for sticking to his convictions but it’s getting to a point that surely a change in tactics is needed
Again. What was the point in Jones signing JRC, Apter and Knibbs if he doesn’t rate them?

So you guys got what you wanted without TC starting. How did that go?
We had two decent crosses, both from him when he finally came on. Bet he starts Monday, thankfully.
We had 4 points from 2 games without him starting before today so not sure you're making as strong a point as you think. Was pretty poor when introduced today anyway.
Probably not worth pointing out it was his goal that won one of them, and his assist another 2...

Which game did we recently win when TC scored?

Sorry edited quickly after that - he equalised v Brum (1 point, not 1 game) but his assist for Kelman got us another 2.

I am still trying to get my head around how we could throw away a very winnable fixture. Rank awful. On this showing, relegation looms.

We were away from home... We've always looked a different team away from the Valley, and more defensive minded, even in League One with Jones.

With NJ banned from the touchline. Phew.
  • Awful performance because they were a poor team. Well done Keenan Gough a bright spark in a shit performance. Bree was dreadful let him go back to Soton

So it’s the fans fault then how shit we was today ?
Maybe that dropping TC wasn't the easy decision it was meant to be. For what it's worth, I thought he would be better coming off the bench, but sometimes its easier to see the problems that the positives (he often occupies two defenders, which means less in other areas). As far as Im concerned, today sits on Jones.  He needed to get  our attack working, and take the dead ball away from Bree. But there was a lack of decent passing everywhere, as well as decisions that looked bizarre by players. No idea how Jones teaches that to professionals.

There was no need to set up like that and not start with Apter and Campbell as wing backs and take the game to Norwich.
Other than the memory of the 1-5 defeat to Southampton where we did similar with no defensive Wing-Backs?
    Norwich aren’t Southampton
Missing the point Red Robin. You can probably get away with Apter at wing back, at home to Oxford, not away at Norwich or even Southampton, if you like.
Maybe. I think I’m just frustrated at the complete lack of creativity on either flank. I cannot decipher what the plan is when we have possession.
I think there is a truth in that and I have to agree that we only got down the flank twice and delivered a threatening cross, both occasions the delivery was supplied by the much maligned Tyreece Campbell. It was probably a bit much to ask Bell to complete more than 70 mins, but in an ideal world we would be swapping 'like for like' not putting our forward players at wing back, our best moments this season have been when Kelman and Tyreece are up front together and we have seen that for 20 mins in the last eight weeks, we scored against Oxford on that occasion.

No attack, can talk about Norwich being in a false position but thats guff, they're were they are deservedly, been shite and not kept a clean sheet until today, needed to take advantage of that but couldn't even manage a shot on target.

First half we at least pressed and battled a bit had the ball in their half, second half subs had the opposite effect today, killed us, Anderson didn't need coming off for Doc and would have kept Leaburn on for longer for Kelman to play alongside, Apter gave a little hope.

    Bree was shocking.

Positives, good to have Bell back, Kaminski kept us in it, Apter doing winger things and Gough didn't look out of place.

    Must win Monday.
  • GK: TK
    LB: Bell
    CB: Jones
    CB: MG
    RB: Ramsay (if fit)
    CDM: Coventry
    CDM: Gough
    CAM: Knibbs
    LW: Olafe
    RW: Apter
    ST: Leaburn

That would be how I would set up against Portsmouth with starting 11

Defensive minded is fine with me. Fully agree. However no result here, leaking defence, zip going forward. And in the end, losing a real winnable. There are a fistful of teams in this Division who go away from home and find a way to take three points. Regrettably, not us. And most assuredly should have done.

It all comes back to the same for me...it's about winning, clean sheets, scoring. That's it. And these big bucks signings we've made are paid big dosh to do just that, clearly to keep us in this Division. Many clearly aren't. I sincerely hope this result doesn't come back to bite us months ahead.

The harsh reality is that the likes of Docherty, Anderson, Gillesphie wouldn't get into a single other championship side (including Sheff Weds)
