More or less even until Jones’s subs and then the other Jones’s howler and we fell apart. Looked like Campbell and Carey pissed at being subs.

NJ has already spoken of business in jan, let’s see what comes of that before we get our knickers in a twist, we’ve competed pretty well in the main with injuries hurting us, today has  been a kick in the nuts and was exceptionally disappointing but we’ve not had that many games like  that so all is not lost,Keep the faith people.

toothless and predictable , we are the lamest of the lot down there (excluding sheffield wednesday)

this reeks of a relegation season

scum v ipswich was light years away from this dross we had to endure

need a miracle / some actual decent players bought who will show form and fitness for more than 5 games
  • In every metric we are a bottom four team.

Our excellent if slightly fortuitous start and the poor start from teams such as Southampton , Ipswich, Sheffield Utd etc gave us a false sense of what this league is like.

We simply don’t have the depth or the quality of the vast majority of teams in the league. If we crawl to fourth bottom then I’ll take it.

We have players who all have ability but not consistency. And when a player has a dip in form the opportunity to replace them with someone who will easily make a difference isn’t there.

Today was poor and I can’t defend the little application we showed or failure to do simple things but it is a reminder of the harsh reality of this league.

Poor old bree. Gone from the best loan player we’ve ever had to how much can we pay Southampton to take him back. All in the space of six weeks. Remarkable.

FFS "I don't think it was my best showing"!?!

Why even say that when there were CAFC players on that pitch that should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

Really hope KA starts in the upcoming games. Otherwise we're in the shit.

Too true. Is it not. Fully agree. Reality check on the crystal clear obvious failings all over the pitch, on this rank awful showing.

    Burke is back.
Not yet he ain't, if we had to play young Gough, and not even in his best position, either.
Sitting on the bench ain't "back". Less useful than a cardboard tank.

So you guys got what you wanted without TC starting. How did that go?
We had two decent crosses, both from him when he finally came on. Bet he starts Monday, thankfully.
It went as badly today as it went well against Oxford on Saturday and Birmingham two weeks ago.
A sample size of 3 games.

    Sorry, what was your point?
We have no attacking threat without him on the pitch, also proven by the past 3 games
Well ok, but 3 games isn’t proof of anything. And you’re talking like starting TC is the secret ingredient. I suppose if he gets injured we should just give up and accept relegation?

Maybe the answer could be to put our other attacking players to better effect? Maybe use Apter or Knibbs better? Maybe change our shape? Maybe consider other tactics?
The thing with TC is, when he comes on for the last 30 minutes, he’s a potential problem for a tiring opposition defence. When he starts, he’s still a problem for the opposition, but they’re not knackered, so he’s less effective. He’s also blowing out his arse after 60 minutes so he becomes ineffective and needs subbing off anyway. Also, as we’re talking “proof” from small samples of recent performances, he started all 5 of our 5 defeats on the spin. So that was good, eh?

No offence, but it’s not all about TC, and framing it like everyone who wanted him to come off the bench is an idiot and proved wrong by today’s performance is just daft.

PWR…a truly shocking game and we managed to somehow be quite some way even worse than Norwich. Danny Hylton is stealing a living if he is really our “set-piece” coach!!  I mean, seriously, how is a lump like Hylton in any way qualified for this other than being the lump that used to be on the end, sometimes, of other people’s set pieces.  Bree mostly, but then Carey too, were dreadful.

An admirable first start for Gough, not too bad from Kaminski. The rest should all be apologising for putting in performances like they’d had 4 or 5helpings of Christmas Pudding last night.

Not unusual with Curtis Fleming doing the chat with Rich after but was it more a case of Nathan spitting feathers at the abject performance and probably best to say nothing?

We can't go on like this so, some money has to be spent otherwise all the hard work on and off the pitch  previously will be for nothing.

I sense the Chelsea ticket sales will now slow a bit ☹️
The football tourists won't be coming to watch Charlton. They won't even register today's result.

The Mighty Norwich...23rd place and the best we can do is contrive to throw those 'flat feeders' a three point hail Mary...unbelievable.Go figure.

Bell gets subbed off and we concede, once again though we are in a game with much less possession than the opposition, aside from being thin on the wing back positions I think we are lacking in the midfield, I think we could make life easier for ourselves if we had more possession / a midfield who can control the game a bit more, but I guess this is the league we’ve been promoted into & it’s gonna take time to improve the squad

Yep, and I take my hat off to the Valley Faithful who paid serious dosh to travel up to Ñorwich to suffer through this turgid display. Bravo!! Reprehensible showing.
  • It's quite simple what went wrong today.

    The players weren't weighed beforehand.

Can't even get the Xmas basics right.

I never really had us down to get anything from today ...but Norwich are where they are for a reason. They're pretty toilet.
So what does that say about us?
A squad of players incapable of laying a glove on the shittiest of opponents.
The message it sends out to the league is a worrying one. 'Score first and get the sun loungers out. This lot couldn't fight their way out of a bag.

As others have said, I'm more than a bit concerned about our ability to stay here on that performance and others in recent weeks.
  • We're not good enough to carry passengers, or to be poor at set pieces. Self inflicted wound today, very disappointing.

    Shit.
  • Kaminski and Gough are the only two that can head back to London with no shame. The rest were absolutely pathetic.

We've got a lot of work to do. Hopefully January brings in some much needed, Championship-quality enforcement.

that was a really long way to drive for a performance like that.  Worst I have seen in person since possibly Ipswich 5-0 away.

Don’t think many football tourists fancy an 8pm Saturday night in SE London with train challenges either!

We had 4 points from 2 games without him starting before today so not sure you're making as strong a point as you think. Was pretty poor when introduced today anyway.
Probably not worth pointing out it was his goal that won one of them, and his assist another 2...
From the bench, which is the point.
  • A performance like that leaves me pining for Thierry Small.
Could be one of the most important bits if business we never did last summer!?
